Tapper Calls Out Spicer on Wiretapping: White House Continues to ‘Argue That the Earth Is Flat’

Right after Sean Spicer‘s press conference today, CNN’s Jake Tapper pushed back against comments Spicer made backing up President Trump on wiretapping despite the Senate Intel Committee’s conclusion today. Spicer today said that the press has been mischaracterizing what happened today. Tapper said that was absolutely not the case. Tapper spoke with Jeff Zeleny and Manu Raju in running through the various responses the White House has used in the past two weeks to defend Trump’s tweets, including the argument that “‘wiretapping’ was in quotes and therefore what President Trump was referring to was any kind of surveillance.” He was struck by “this anger from Sean Spicer, who cannot defend the indefensible,” and even mentioned Trump’s comments last night on “his favorite channel Fox News.” And just to cap it all off, Tapper ended the segment by saying, “It’s amazing to watch White House continue to argue that the earth is flat.” Watch above, via CNN.
