‘You’re Fired’: Trump Axes Big Bird in Kimmel Segment Mocking PBS Cuts

Jimmy Kimmel took aim last night at Donald Trump’s proposed budget that would enact deep cuts across a number of federal agencies. “President Trump released his proposed budget today,” said Kimmel. “There are a lot of cuts in the plan, including PBS would be cut, Meals on Wheels would be cut, the National Endowment for the Arts. The guy who has three oil painting of himself in his bathroom wants to cut the National Endowment for the Arts,” he quipped in disbelief. Cutting PBS, the longtime host of Sesame Street, prompted Kimmel to ponder the implications with an Apprentice spoof showing Trump firing Big Bird. “I say you’re fired,” said Trump “I guess we’ll have to find a new place to live,” said a despondent Big Bird. “It’s too bad, but that’s the way it goes,” said Trump looking at his son, Donald Trump Jr. Kimmel closed the segment that Trump should watch an episode or two of Sesame Street before nixing the program. “I think we should make the president watch it a couple of times,” he said. “That show teaches so many things he needs to know, which thing is bigger than the other, how to spell, the importance of telling the truth and sharing, listening to others, maybe throw in some school house rock, he could find out how government works.”
