Trump to German Reporter: Calling Me an Isolationist Is an Example of Fake News
One German reporter at President Trump‘s joint presser with Chancellor Angela Merkel today asked him about his attacks on the “fake news.”
The reporter first asked Merkel about Trump’s “isolationist policy,” then asked Trump why he’s “so scared of diversity in the news… that you speak so often of fake news.” She pointed to unproven claims Trump himself has made.
Trump started out by insisting that his policy is not an isolationist one, saying, “I am a free trader, but I’m also a fair trader.”
He added, “I don’t know what newspaper you’re reading, but I guess that would be another example of––as you say––fake news.”
