CNN’s Stelter: ‘We’re Stuck in A Conservative Media Ditch’ With Trump
CNN’s Brian Stelter targeted President Donald Trump on Friday over his reliance on Fox News commentators.
Moments after the president concluded a news conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Stelter hyped that “we’re stuck in this conservative media ditch where the president is relying on something that may or may not have actually been reliable.”
The media reporter also asserted that the president “doesn’t seem know the difference between an opinion commentator saying something on an opinion show — relying on sources that are apparently wrong — versus real reporting. And it’s just not a good look for any political leader to be doing that.”
Anchor Wolf Blitzer then pointed out that White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer cited Fox News host Sean Hannity during Thursday’s press briefing. Stelter underlined that Hannity is a “pro-Trump partisan” and “entertainer, in some ways.”
The Reliable host emphasized, however, that the real issue was “the President’s media literacy.” He explained that “when [Trump] is watching television in the morning or at the end of the day — consuming these opinion shows, hearing these ideas that he wants to believe because they seem to support his point of view — he is then sharing that; his aides are then sharing that; it’s trickling all around the world; and, in this case, creating an international incident.”
