In the run-up to FBI Director James Comey’s testimony on President Donald Trump’s claims of wiretapping, the president issued a tweet suggesting that the Clinton campaign had had contact with the Russian government and that the FBI had tried — but been unable — to investigate the matter with the Democratic National Committee.
