FBI Director Comey Was Asked at Hearing to Respond to @POTUS Tweet About the Hearing

During today’s House Intelligence Committee hearing, the official @POTUS account––as opposed to President Trump‘s personal account @RealDonaldTrump––tweeted what the White House feels were the most important parts of FBI Director James Comey‘s testimony. And, of course, Comey was asked to respond to one of those tweets. Democratic Congressman Jim Himes brought up this tweet in particular to Comey: Comey––who had said earlier in the hearing that analysts believed Russia wanted to hurt Hillary Clinton and help Trump––said in response to the @POTUS tweet, “It certainly wasn’t our intention to say that today, ’cause we don’t have any information on that subject.” Earlier in the hearing, Comey said he has seen no basis for the wiretapping claims made on his personal Twitter feed.
