During Russia Hearing, Comey Jokes About FBI’s Role in Finding Tom Brady Super Bowl Jersey: ‘I Don’t Like The Patriots’
The FBI was in the spotlight on Monday afternoon for director James Comey‘s participation in a House Intelligence Committee hearing on President Donald Trump‘s claim that Trump Tower was wiretapped before the election, as well as Russian interference in the election.
But the Bureau made another bit of news on Monday. According to an NFL spokesperson, the FBI was one of the law enforcement agencies which helped recover the missing Super Bowl jersey of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.
House Committee member Rick Crawford (R-AR) joked with Comey about the Bureau’s role in locating the jersey.
“Despite your expressed disdain for the New England Patriots, I think that Tom Brady would probably like to express his gratitude for the FBI’s assistance in recovering his stolen super bowl jersey,” Crawford said.
Comey responded by stating that he was a fan of the New Giants, who have defeated Brady and the Patriots in two recent Super Bowls.
“The reason I don’t like the Patriots is they represent sustained excellence,” Comey joked. “As a Giants fan, that drives me crazy.”
