WATCH LIVE: President Trump Gives Commencement Address at United States Coast Guard Academy

President Donald Trump will be in New London, Connecticut today, where he will give the keynote address before graduating cadets of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. WNPR notes that the school is used to hosting presidents, as it is one of several military academies where presidents typically deliver a commencement speech every year. Barack Obama and George W. Bush have spoken at the school in the past, and the event often serves as an indication of where the sitting president is focusing his political attention. Trump’s address comes as he and his administration face building pressure over a series of major ongoing controversies. Trump admitted that he gave Russian officials highly-classified information this week, and he is now facing scrutiny over a memo James Comey wrote about how the president asked him to stop investigating Michael Flynn. These developments come less than two weeks after Trump’s bombshell decision to Comey as FBI director. The White House faced scrutiny over their changing explanations for Trump’s decision, and at one point, Trump suggested in an interview that Comey’s investigation into his 2016 campaign and Russia’s election interference was a motivating factor.
