‘We Made It Very Clear’: Spicer Declines to Elaborate on White House Response to Comey’s Memo

Press Secretary Sean Spicer spoke with reporters today about what James Comey wrote in his explosive memo on President Trump‘s request that he stop his probe on Michael Flynn. In an audio-only press gaggle, Spicer took questions about the White House’s denial of Comey’s account, as well as the fact that multiple Congressional committees are asking the former FBI director to give testimony. Spicer insisted that Comey’s description of the meeting was inaccurate, and he declined to expand on the White House’s previous denial of the memo. “We’ve made it very clear,” Spicer said. “I’m not going to get any further comment on that.” Spicer was also asked about those saying Trump current scandal is of Watergate proportions, and also about Vladimir Putin‘s offer to release a transcript of what Trump told Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at the White House last week. Spicer told the gaggle that Trump recently spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, but he insisted that it was about Trump’s upcoming trip abroad, and not about how Trump’s leaked intelligence reportedly came from the Israelis.
