Reports from CNN and other TV news outlets indicate that the White House only had approximately a 30-minute heads-up Wednesday afternoon on the day’s big announcement — that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein is appointing former FBI Director Robert Mueller as special counsel to probe Russian interference in the 2016 election.
