Lindsey Graham Blasts Media for Calling Trump a ‘Kook,’ a Year and a Half After He Called Trump a ‘Kook’

Earlier today, Sen. Lindsey Graham appeared on CNN and tore apart President Donald Trump’s audacious retweets of those anti-Muslim videos, saying that “the antidote to terrorism is not racism and religious bigotry.” After this exchange, however, Graham began defending Trump against the media, accusing the press of participating in a concerted effort to make the president appear unhinged. “You know what concerns me about the American press,” he said. “This endless. endless attempt to label the guy as some kind of kook not fit to be president.” A fair point, and there’s no better messenger for said point than Lindsey Graham. It’s not as if there’s video of him calling the president a “kook” who is not fit to serve as president. Oh, wait. There is. Graham appeared on Fox News way back in February 2016, back when the South Carolina Senator was still running for president, and had some eerily familiar words to say about Trump. “I’m not gonna try to get into the mind of Donald Trump because I don’t think there’s a whole lot of space there,” he said. “I think he’s a kook. I think he’s crazy. I think he’s unfit for office.” Well, there you have it. What a difference 18 months can make, especially when that span of time saw your one-time opponent become the de facto leader of your party. How kooky.
