Since campaigning with President Donald Trump, General Flynn has consistently been a lightning rod for controversy. Perhaps one of the most notable moments in the Republican National Convention was Flynn’s encouragement of “Locker Her Up” chants directed towards Trump’s opponent Hillary Clinton. Flynn was initially named the National Security Advisor in the Trump Administration, but resigned from that position within his first month as questions about the veracity of his past engagement with entities became a serious question, and political anchor, for the White House. Flynn notably told a falsehood to Vice President Mike Pence, who then parroted his claim on national television, causing embarrassment for both Pence and the White House as a whole. This story is developing, and we shall add new information accordingly. [Image via screengrab] — —

Robert Mueller‘s office has announced that they will schedule a plea hearing with Michael Flynn, who has now been charged on at least one count of lying to the FBI. Court documents show that Flynn, a former national security adviser to President Trump, has been accused of “willfully and knowingly” making “false, fictitious and fraudulent statements” to federal investigators.
