Doug Jones Roasts Roy Moore and Steve Bannon: Neither Can ‘Hold Down a Job’

As former White House strategist and Breitbart chairman Steve Bannon prepared to take the stage to campaign for accused child molester-cum-Senate candidate Roy Moore, his Democratic opponent was taking shots at the two. Doug Jones, who is looking to inject some blue into Alabama’s typically deep-red Senate roster, derided the nomadic Bannon as an “outside agitator” who was “carpetbagging in Alabama”: Jones wasn’t finished with the sick burns, however, adding the following tweet referencing Jones’s booting from the Alabama Supreme Court and Bannon’s ouster from the White House: Bannon appeared on the campaign trail with Moore Tuesday night to his full-throated support of the candidate whose once-surefire campaign was derailed by a series of sexual abuse allegations leveled at him by women who said they were minors at the time. Though it was reported at the time the allegations came out that Bannon was having second thoughts about Moore, it appears that he — like President Donald Trump — made the calculation that the candidate could actually win the Alabama Senate seat despite the scandal. Bannon’s speech at the Moore rally was a tour de force in Trumpian trash-talking: he mocked GOP Sen. Jeff Flake for bucking the party line to donate to Jones, called Mitt Romney a draft dodger (no one tell Bannon about Trump…), and targeted failed presidential candidate-turned-retiree Hillary Clinton.
