Tucker Carlson Defends Matt Damon Amid Backlash Over Sexual Harassment Remarks

Yes, Fox News’ Tucker Carlson opened his show Friday night defending, of all people, Matt Damon. Why? Well, there is a petition right now with a few thousand signatures calling for Damon to be cut from the upcoming film Ocean’s 8 over recent comments he made about sexual harassment and the #MeToo movement. One recent comment that got backlash was when he said, “There’s a difference between, you know, patting someone on the butt and rape or child molestation, right? Both of those behaviors need to be confronted and eradicated without question, but they shouldn’t be conflated, right?” The petition cites another interview he gave in which Damon said, in response to a question about whether he’d back out of a project if someone on it was accused of sexual misconduct, “It would be a case-by-case basis. You go, ‘What’s the story here?'” Carlson, who acknowledged tonight he really expected to be defending Matt Damon, said he’s being unfairly maligned for reasonable comments. Carlson said online outrage culture is fueling a push to “punish” Demon for very defensible remarks. “This is how reason dies,” Carlson said. Watch above, via Fox News.
