Joe Arpaio Slams Flake Over Senate Run Dismissal: ‘He Didn’t Have the Guts’ to Get Reelected

Joe Arpaio hit back at Jeff Flake on Wednesday after the outgoing Arizona senator condemned his plans to run for his seat. Former sheriff Arpaio appeared on Fox & Friends Wednesday, where he talked about his (unconventional) career in law enforcement and how he wants to go to Washington to support President Donald Trump‘s agenda. The former sheriff received Trump’s first pardon months ago after being convicted of contempt of court in connection with his racial profiling practices. Arpaio’s track record makes him a controversial figure to say the least, and Flake appeared on CNN yesterday to emphatically dismiss the former sheriff and his chances of taking the senate. Based on how Arpaio reacted when Steve Doocy asked about this, it seems the feeling is mutual.
“I know he doesn’t like me. Who cares? He is not running. He is saying that I’m not going to last than a month, that I will leave. What about him leaving? He didn’t have the guts to face the people, to get reelected. At least I got the guts to face all the detractors, the Democratic Party, you name it, so he can have his opinion, I got mine, but It doesn’t bother me at all.”
