Chris Cuomo Accuses Trump of Ignoring Porter Scandal ‘On Purpose’: ‘People Die’ From Domestic Abuse

Chris Cuomo says President Donald Trump has intentionally turned a blind eye to the scandal involving former White House senior aide Rob Porter. The New Day anchor made the charge on Tuesday morning — saying that the severity of Porter’s alleged domestic abuse offenses demand a forceful response from Trump. Instead, there has been silence. “Domestic abuse is entire different echelon of concern in this society,” Cuomo said. “It’s a scourge. People die because of this. He knows this. He ignored it on purpose.” This was a major topic during the Monday briefing by White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Sanders was repeatedly asked why Trump would not speak for himself on this issue — leaving the matter instead to his press shop. Chris Cuomo has the same concern. “[I]t’s really not an open question,” the New Day anchor said. “Does he support? Does he not support? The has to be no. Because he tweeted twice this morning. He could come out and clear it up when ever he wanted to. One simple statement. ‘Victims of domestic abuse, not on my watch.’ Make some grandiose statement about it will never be again, everybody cherishes women. He hasn’t done it.” As to Cuomo’s theory of why Trump has failed to make such a statement? “What other explanation can there be other than he does not want to?” Watch above, via CNN.
