When you have a platform, use it, right? Right? Comedian Kathy Griffin absolutely tore into the Writer’s Guild at the organization’s awards this weekend in Beverly Hills. After spending the better part of a year absent from the red carpet after a controversial photo shoot in which she posed with a fake bloody head of Donald Trump, Griffin couldn’t help but take a couple of jabs at the organization who invited her to be a presenter, but didn’t have her back — in her view — as she faced a ton of criticism. “It’s me, Kathy Griffin — I got a haircut and I lost my career in a day. Hi,” she said at the event, which was not televised. “I just want to thank all the powerful writers and show runners in this room for fucking no support. Where the fuck have you been?” After the bloody head incident, Griffin lost her job as the spokesperson for Squatty Potty, as well as her gig on CNN, where she’d cohosted New Year’s with Anderson Cooper for ten years. At first, Griffin apologized for the head incident, but then went back on it. “I’m no longer sorry. The whole outrage was BS,” she told Australian news outlet Sunrise.
