Romney, Who Just Thanked Trump For His Support, Once Said He Wouldn’t Accept Trump’s Endorsement

President Donald Trump took to Twitter Monday night to announce that he was endorsing former Republican presidential nominee — and frequent Trump critic — Mitt Romney in the Utah Senate race. (Romney recently announced his candidacy to run for longtime GOP Sen. Orrin Hatch’s seat.) Following Trump’s tweet, Romney responded on Twitter, thanking the president for his support while stating that he hoped to earn the “endorsement of the people of Utah.” Shortly after Romney sent that tweet, a two-year-old tweet of his resurfaced that showed Romney with a far different opinion of then-candidate Trump. Yep. As you can see in the tweet above, Romney tore into Trump over his inflammatory comments on the campaign trail, saying that if Trump had said those same things four years prior, he would have rejected the business mogul’s endorsement during the 2012 presidential election. Of course, this isn’t the first time Romney’s swallowed his pride when it comes to Trump. Can anyone forget his audition — and rejection — to be Trump’s Secretary of State during the transition?
