Kimmel said he would do it if everyone wore very short shorts.
.@jimmykimmel All right, Big Guy…you talk a good game. You besmirched my support for the @HoustonRockets So let’s settle this man-to-man: one-on-one, hoops (or “ring-ball,” if you prefer). The loser gives to the (non-political) charity of the winner’s choice. https://t.co/BWvAP5VOtM— Ted Cruz (@tedcruz) May 31, 2018
For once, Cruz was the voice of reason.
The two continued to hammer out the dress code until finally they thankfully dropped the talk of revealing clothes.
As Borat demonstrated conclusively, NOBODY wants to see that. And ABC would probably be fined by the FCC! How ‘bout this: you dress yourself, I’ll do the same. Play to 10 (by ones), win by 2. https://t.co/B2MrOkBipI — Ted Cruz (@tedcruz) May 31, 2018
Kimmel then officially accepted the challenge on the air, with a bit of trash talk. “You really wanna play basketball against a talk-show host?” Kimmel taunted. “You already lost an election to a reality show host. Isn’t that enough?” Now, it appears the basketball game may actually be a real thing. Responding to Cruz’s TMZ interview, Kimmel had more trash talk but confirmed the date. “I know what you’re trying to do, Lying Ted. You’re trying to turn the fans against me because you say I made fun of the Rockets,” Kimmel said. “I did not make fun of the Rockets. I made fun of you pretending to be a fan of the Rockets — and for looking like a greasy blobfish while you did it.” He added the so-called “The Blobfish Basketball Classic” would, indeed, take place on June 16, noting, “I look forward to one of us making a difference in kids’ lives, and I have a feeling it’s gonna be me.” Watch above via TMZ and ABC.
