WATCH LIVE: Washington Capitals Celebrate Stanley Cup Title With Parade Through Streets of DC

After 43 years of futility, the Washington Capitals claimed their first-ever Stanley Cup last week — by virtue of their four games to one series victory over the Vegas Golden Knights in the Cup Final. Undoubtedly, the key moment of the series was the miraculous Game 2 save in the closing moments by Caps goalie Braden Holtby. With Washington trailing 1-0 in the series and only leading by one goal in the game, Holtby’s save helped preserve the key victory, and help completely turn the momentum in the series. Now, the Caps make a triumphant homecoming — led, of course, by their all-world superstar Alexander Ovechkin. The left-winger was scintillating in the postseason, scoring an astounding 15 goals en route to winning the Conn Smythe trophy as playoffs MVP. Expect Ovechkin to get the lion’s share of the face time during the victory celebration. He’s certainly been, um, enjoying his with the Cup so far. The Conn Smythe winner has been seen keg standing with Lord Stanley’s Cup and swimming in public fountains — among other things. Indeed, he’s been savoring the moment. Tuesday, he’ll join teammates Holtby, T.J. Oshie — along with head coach Barry Trotz and owner Ted Leonsis for a triumphant homecoming. The parade begins at 11:00 a.m. ET.
