WATCH: Dem House Candidate Gets Pepper Sprayed in the Face for New Campaign Video

A Democratic congressional candidate in Colorado is getting a lot of attention over a campaign ad where he gets pepper-sprayed to make a statement about gun violence at schools. Levi Tillemann‘s new ad calls for alternatives to President Donald Trump‘s plan to arm teachers in light of all the school shootings that happened around the country over the last few months. Tillemann argues that if teachers are allowed to keep pepper spray in their classrooms instead of guns, they’ll be able to defend themselves from a shooter without possibly endangering the lives of any more children. To make his point, Tillemann gets pepper sprayed in the face before rinsing himself off with soapy water and a hose. “It’s incredibly painful, and now I just can’t see anything,” Tillemann says. “It’s just unbearable, it’s like lava in your eyes.” Even though Trump and pro-gun advocates recommend arming teachers a way to protect schools, critics remain worried that that plan could lead to accidental child death and exacerbate the chaos of a shooter situation.
