Democratic National Committee chairman Tom Perez announced in a statement that the organization will be barring Fox News from hosting a primary debate for the 2020 presidential election. In the statement provided to Mediaite, Perez cited the New Yorker report on the ties between President Donald Trump‘s administration and Fox News as a reason to exclude the network from its 12 planned primary debates. “I believe that a key pathway to victory is to continue to expand our electorate and reach all voters,” Perez said in a statement, first reported by the Washington Post. “That is why I have made it a priority to talk to a broad array of potential media partners, including Fox News. Recent reporting in the New Yorker on the inappropriate relationship between President Trump, his administration and Fox News has led me to conclude that the network is not in a position to host a Continue reading "BREAKING: Democrats Reject Fox News as 2020 Debate Host After New Yorker Report"

Xochitl Hinojosa, the communications director for the DNC, called out the Republican “obsession” with Hillary Clinton after she was asked on Fox News if the failed presidential candidate would run again. Fox News anchor Bill Hemmer asked Hinojosa, who worked for Clinton twice, about a tweet from New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman questioning Clinton’s statement that she will not be running in 2020. “Is she out or is she in or is she staying in the middle?” Hemmer asked Hinojosa. “She stated she is not running for president in 2020 and I take her for Continue reading "Former Clinton Staffer Calls Out ‘Obsession’ With Hillary After Fox News Anchor Asks If She’s Running"

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro tweeted out a sexually explicit video of a man pissing on another man’s head in an apparent attempt to denounce Carnaval, the country’s massive annual street party. The far right populist, elected last year, shared a video of two men standing on a taxi stand in order to “expose the truth” about Carnaval. At one point, on the men appears to piss on the hair of the other. It’s graphic. “This is what Brazilian carnival street parties have turned into,” Bolsonaro said. Defenders of the event claimed the video he tweeted out was an isolated incident. After a torrent of criticism, Bolsonaro asked Twitter Wednesday what a “golden shower” is: According to an Insider report, Bolsonaro’s crusade against Carnaval comes after the festival made a mockery of him. Bolsonaro has a history Continue reading "Brazil’s President Bolsonaro Posts Sexually Explicit Golden Showers Video to Denounce Carnaval"

Bernie Goldberg, a longtime Fox News analyst who appeared frequently the O’Reilly Factor, dished on his departure from the network in a blog post this week. The conservative commentator speaking out came a day after Jane Mayer published a massive New Yorker piece detailing Fox News’ ties with the Trump administration. Goldberg, until recently a paid analyst for Fox, opened the blog with an anecdote from 2012: Bill Shine, the Fox News executive turned White House deputy chief of staff, calling his agent to complain about Goldberg’s criticism of conservative media for coddling Sarah Palin. Goldberg explained in his post that he was referring in his 2012 criticism to Fox News host Sean Hannity, “whose interviews with Sarah Palin – and later Donald Trump – resemble wet kisses a lot more than journalism.” He went over Shine’s head to speak with then-head of the network  Continue reading "Bernie Goldberg Dishes on Why He Left Fox News: They Wouldn’t Tolerate a Conservative Hitting Trump"

CNN commentator Ana Navarro fired back at a report on Tuesday that called out her “expensive” wedding registry. “Wedding registries reveal expensive tastes of Florida’s leading Never Trumpers,” blares the headline of a Washington Examiner story, out just days after Navarro’s star-studded wedding. It includes some choice entries on 47-year-old Navarro’s registry, set up in light of her marriage to Al Cardenas, 71. From the Examiner:
Among the gifts people bought the couple were “Michael Aram Palm Cocktail Napkin Holders” ($65), “sustainably sourced” striped pool towels at $39.50, a dozen “Villeroy & Boch Buffet Plate Mandarin Chargers ($89.99 each), three “Squared Zen Melamine Large Green Leaf Platter” ($46 each) and a “Bedgear Dri-Tec King Sheet Set” at $248.99. Jane Mayer on Fox News Report: Trump ‘Seemed Somewhat Prepared’ For Megyn Kelly’s Debate Question

The New Yorker‘s Jane Mayer discussed on CNN Tuesday morning a stunning detail from her bombshell report on Fox News: rumors that the network slipped Donald Trump two questions before a Republican primary debate in 2016. Two insiders at Fox News and two people close to the Trump campaign told Mayer that an eyewitness saw former Fox News head Roger Ailes tip-off Trump to “two key debate questions.” One of the questions that Trump allegedly knew about ended up being infamous: Megyn Kelly‘s searing question about his treatment of women, two which the candidate quipped that he had only called Rosie O’Donnell a fat pig. “He seemed somewhat prepared for the Megyn Kelly question actually when you go back and look at the tape, you’ll see he had a really snappy rejoinder,” Mayer told CNN’s Alisyn Camerota. “Maybe he’s just really quick. But he was certainly Continue reading "Jane Mayer on Fox News Report: Trump ‘Seemed Somewhat Prepared’ For Megyn Kelly’s Debate Question"

Laura Ingraham is off tonight, and decided to hand the reins of her show over to Jesse Watters, who presided over one of the messiest, loudest, most pointless clusterfuck-panel debates we’ve seen in a while. Watters got things off to a sensible start by asking one of his guests, civil rights attorney Leo Terrell, about the latest comments from “Crooked Hillary.” Terrell replied by taking aim at fellow panelist Dan Bongino: “Dan’s afraid of Donald Trump, and Dan will not admit that Donald Trump has said racist comments the last three years. Isn’t that true Dan?” “You’re a liar! You’re a liar! You’re lying on this show!” Bongino replied. “Has Donald Trump said anything racist, Dan?” Terrell pressed. “No!” Bongino replied confidently. “The answer is no and you’re a liar!” “Because Muslims are not banned from the United States,” Bongino explained, Continue reading "Dan Bongino Screams at ‘Clearly Insane’ Fox News Guest in Nuts Segment: ‘I’m Afraid of Idiots!’"

Fox News’ Bret Baier: ‘Over the Top’ For Trump to Blame Cohen For North Korea Summit Failure

Fox News anchor Bret Baier said President Donald Trump‘s claim that his former lawyer was to blame for scuttling his North Korea summit was a “stretch” on Monday. Baier, who was in Hanoi, Vietnam for Trump’s summit with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, was pushing back on the U.S. president’s claim in a tweet that Michael Cohen‘s testimony before Congress last week could have contributed to the failure of the summit. The Fox News anchor pointed out that Cohen didn’t reject Trump’s proposal — the North Koreans did. “The fact that the president says that Cohen contributed to the walk away from this deal, I mean, Michael Cohen didn’t offer just Yongbyon nuclear facility. Michael Cohen didn’t say no to the big deal at the table between the president and Chairman Kim. So I think that that’s a stretch. Obviously, it was covered differently by Continue reading "Fox News’ Bret Baier: ‘Over the Top’ For Trump to Blame Cohen For North Korea Summit Failure"

‘All Cohen All the Time’: Fox News’ Howard Kurtz Pans CNN and MSNBC For Avoiding Trump-Kim Summit

Fox News host Howard Kurtz did some digging and found that rival cable news networks CNN and MSNBC barely covered President Donald Trump‘s summit with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, instead devoting wall-to-wall coverage of Michael Cohen‘s testimony before Congress. Despite the “very big story” of Trump’s second nuclear summit with Kim, Kurtz noted “on the other two cable networks one story dominated: it was all Cohen all the time.” The host of MediaBuzz found that on Thursday in primetime, the day after Cohen’s dramatic testimony before the House Oversight Committee and the day the Trump-Kim summit was upended, the networks had different editorial priorities: MSNBC covered the summit for five minutes, and the hearing for 88 minutes. CNN covered the summit for eight minutes, the hearing for 32. Fox News, meanwhile, covered the hearing for 37 minutes and the summit for 38. “Look, I Continue reading "‘All Cohen All the Time’: Fox News’ Howard Kurtz Pans CNN and MSNBC For Avoiding Trump-Kim Summit"

A bombshell New Yorker report detailing the relationship between President Donald Trump and Fox News contains a series of stunning details — including reporting that Trump attempted to wield the Justice Department against CNN. According to the New Yorker‘s Jane Mayer, back in the summer of 2017, a few months before the Justice Department filed suit to stop AT&T’s acquisition of CNN’s parent company Time Warner, Trump ordered his chief economic adviser Gary Cohn to intervene. Mayer reports:
According to a well-informed source, Trump called Cohn into the Oval Office along with John Kelly, who had just become the chief of staff, and said in exasperation to Kelly, “I’ve been telling Cohn to get this lawsuit filed and nothing’s happened! I’ve mentioned it fifty times. And nothing’s happened. I want to make sure it’s filed. I want that deal blocked!” Cohn, a former president of Goldman Continue reading "Trump Reportedly Tried to Have DOJ Block AT&T-Time Warner Merger to Punish CNN For Coverage"

John Oliver went after White House advisers Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner over their security clearance controversy on Sunday’s episode of Last Week Tonight. Setting Oliver off was a New York Times report last week that found President Donald Trump ordered former chief of staff John Kelly to give Kushner, his son-in-law, top-secret security clearance, against the advice of officials and a White House lawyer. “Jared is exactly where you’d expect a boy his age to be,” Oliver started, noting the 38-year-old’s responsibility to resolve the Israel-Palestine conflict: “Trying to broker a peace deal in one of the most intractable conflicts in geopolitical history.” “One major issue with Jared having access to state secrets is, you know, it’s Jared. A guy who, even among Jareds, stands out as the Jared of the group,” Oliver joked. “But the other issue with his top secret clearance concerns national security,” he continued, Continue reading "John Oliver Roasts Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner: You’ve Accomplished Nothing Based on ‘Merit’"

Seb Gorka No Longer a Contributor at Fox News

Seb Gorka, pundit turned White House staffer turned pundit, is no longer a Fox News contributor, the network confirmed to Mediaite. Gorka, a self-proclaimed national security expert, worked as a contributor for Fox News before he joined the Trump administration (to apparently wreak havoc on the National Security Council). He returned to Fox News in November 2017 shortly after he was reportedly forced out of the administration by former chief of staff John Kelly. When reached for comment, Gorka replied to Mediaite with a furious torrent of emails, the first of which accused this reporter of being in a “drug-induced haze.” “You really are obsessed with me aren’t you. I’d be flattered if you weren’t a washed-out hack,” Gorka wrote in a second email. After Gorka instructed me to read the jobs listed on his social media bio, I informed him that I could not, as he had Continue reading "Seb Gorka No Longer a Contributor at Fox News"

A day after conservative pundit Michelle Malkin drew outrage by attacking “the ghost of John McCain” in her CPAC speech, Fox News host Jeanine Pirro doubled down in an address of own. Pirro, who hosts Fox News show Justice with Judge Jeanine, delivered the final speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Saturday, hours after President Donald Trump gave his marathon address. “And by the way, Michelle Malkin is right blaming Congress for not acting year after year,” Pirro said. “They do practice deceit at your expense and the expense of the United States. Pirro continued: “She blamed both parties. And then got specific, saying: ‘Yes, I’m looking at you, retired Paul Ryan. And you Mitch McConnell. And yes I’m looking at you Bush family. And yes, you the ghost of John McCain.'” “And because of all of them, we live with the consequence of sanctuary cities,” Continue reading "Fox’s Pirro Piles On ‘Ghost of John McCain’ at CPAC"

Fox’s Wallace and CNN’s Tapper Both Call Trump-Kim Meeting a ‘Failed Summit’ to Bolton’s Face

Fox News’s Chris Wallace and CNN’s Jake Tapper both interrogated U.S. National Security Adviser John Bolton over the president’s summit with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un on their respective Sunday shows. Both anchors called the highly anticipated meeting “failed” in their interviews with the official. “Following the failed summit in Vietnam, where does diplomacy stand between the United States and North Korea?” asked Wallace on Fox News Sunday, days after President Donald Trump left the meeting in Hanoi, Vietnam without a denuclearization agreement. “I don’t agree at all that it was a failed summit,” Bolton protested. “I think the obligation of the president of the United States is to defend and advance American national security interest. And I think he did that that by rejecting a bad deal and by trying again to persuade Kim Jong Un to take the big deal that really could make Continue reading "Fox’s Wallace and CNN’s Tapper Both Call Trump-Kim Meeting a ‘Failed Summit’ to Bolton’s Face"

Trump’s Rollicking, Two-Hour CPAC Speech is Longest of His Presidency

President Donald Trump‘s raucous speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Saturday clocked in at two hours and two minutes long, making it the longest speech of his presidency. The speech at the annual conservative gathering hit all of Trump’s campaign topics: he blasted the media, calling them “sick.” He went after Special Counsel Robert Mueller, saying the investigations into him are “bullshit.” He mocked former Attorney General Jeff Sessions, imitating his Alabama accent. He railed against the Green New Deal and decried Democrats as “socialists.” He even embarked on an extensive tangent about a general he says he met on his trip to Iraq, named Raisin Cane, who told him of more efficient ways to launch airstrikes in the region (watch that colorful segment above.) At the end of the marathon speech, Trump touched on his summit with North Continue reading "Trump’s Rollicking, Two-Hour CPAC Speech is Longest of His Presidency"

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez fired back at Fox Business host Charles Payne after he asked how many black people she has on her staff. The New York Democrat had defended her colleague, Rep. Rashida Tlaib, and her claim black HUD staffer Lynne Patton was used as a “prop” by Republicans at Michael Cohen‘s hearing this week. Patton was invited by Republican Congressman Mark Meadows to prove President Donald Trump wasn’t racist. “Total bravery from @RashidaTlaib as she reminds the nation that tokenism is racism,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote on Twitter, linking to a video of Tlaib’s clash with Meadows. “How many Black people are o [sic] your staff?” Payne replied to Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter.

Trump Rails Against Mueller, Mocks Sessions in Profane Tirade: Trying to Take Me Down With ‘Bullsh*t!’

President Donald Trump railed against Special Counsel Robert Mueller, his team of investigators and former Attorney General Jeff Sessions during a lengthy and profane tirade at CPAC on Saturday. During an extensive improvised riff, Trump praised his own election victory in 2016, calling it “the greatest of all time.” “You put the wrong people in a couple of positions…and all of a sudden, they are trying to take you out with bullshit!” Trump said, which drew rapturous applause and chants of “Bullshit!” from inside the hall, per reports. “Robert Mueller never received a single vote,” Trump said, of the investigator appointed to lead a probe into his campaign’s ties with Russian interference in the 2016 election. Trump then turned his ire to Sessions, who served as attorney general through several years of presidential Twitter abuse, after he recused himself from the Russia investigation given his work Continue reading "Trump Rails Against Mueller, Mocks Sessions in Profane Tirade: Trying to Take Me Down With ‘Bullsh*t!’"

NY Times Columnist Bret Stephens Fumes After Deadspin Writer Publishes Their Testy Email Exchange

New York Times columnist Bret Stephens tsk-tsked Deadspin writer Samer Kalaf on Friday after he published their testy email exchange. This painfully trivial beef between a columnist for the august New York Times opinion pages and a sardonic blogger was sparked by two emails Kalaf sent Stephens over the course of a year. The first email, sent May 2018, was in response to a Stephens column — on the Gaza protests in which Israeli soldiers killed dozens of Palestinians — that Kalaf deemed “drive-by dogshit.” Kalaf suggested Stephens give his salary to Palestinian activist Ahed Tamimi. Stephens did not reply. The second, sent Thursday, February 28, did not specify a column he took issue with, but called Stephens “remarkably dumb” and again suggested he give his salary to Tamimi. This time, Stephens replied. After a curt back and forth, Stephens sent a lengthy screed with some life advice for Kalaf. Here’s Continue reading "NY Times Columnist Bret Stephens Fumes After Deadspin Writer Publishes Their Testy Email Exchange"

Is This Louise Mensch Tweet Comparing The Bernie Sanders Campaign to 9/11 Her Worst Yet?

Louise Mensch, the former Tory MP turned #Resistance übergrifter, is out with yet another piping hot tweet that has Mediaite’s staff asking: could this be her worst post tweet yet? Probably not. After all, Louise Mensch once somberly tweeted that execution was being considered for Steve Bannon (two years later, Bannon has yet to be executed). Back to today’s tweet in question: Mensch responded Tuesday to Sen. Bernie Sanders announcing that he’s running for president in 2020 with a fun 9/11 analogy. The (now deleted) tweet read: “bernie’s 2016 campaign was american airlines flight 11 and now bernie’s 2020 campaign is united airlines flight 176 and i will never forget”.

McCabe Filing Civil Lawsuit Against Justice Department: I Was Fired Because of Trump Investigation

Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe said in an interview on the Today show that is “about to file” a civil lawsuit against the Department of Justice over his firing. NBC’s Savannah Guthrie pressed McCabe about his firing, noting that an inspector general’s report concluded he had showed a “lack of candor” about leaks to the Wall Street Journal. McCabe defended his long career with the FBI, criticized the report, arguing that he was fired because he opened an investigation into President Donald Trump. “I believe very strongly I was fired because of the steps we’ve just discussed,” McCabe said. “I was fired because I opened a case against the president of the United States.” “So I have big problems with that report,” he continued. “I disagree with the conclusions they drew, and that is something that I’ll be raising in a civil lawsuit that I’ll be bringing against Continue reading "McCabe Filing Civil Lawsuit Against Justice Department: I Was Fired Because of Trump Investigation"
