Charlie Rose Forced To Explain Iraq War To Roger Stone

“CBS This Morning” host Charlie Rose called out a top surrogate for President Donald Trump on Tuesday for misstating key facts about the Iraq War.
“No, no,” Rose interjected after Trump ally Roger Stone claimed the FBI lied about torture and weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. “That’s not the FBI director, he was not involved in that process.”
Stone had been trying to discredit the FBI, which on Monday confirmed that it was investigating potential ties between Trump’s presidential campaign and Russia. FBI Director James Comey revealed that the probe began in July. Stone’s own ties to Russia have been called into question.
For the record, it was the the CIA, not the FBI, that provided the intelligence that Continue reading "Charlie Rose Forced To Explain Iraq War To Roger Stone"

White House Budget Director Says Single Moms Shouldn’t Have To Pay For PBS

The White House’s budget director justified proposed cuts to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting by saying that it’s not fair to ask a “single mom in Detroit” or a “coal miner” to pay for it.
The Corporation for Public Broadcasting funds PBS, which airs “Sesame Street” and other children’s shows. President Donald Trump’s federal budget plan, released on Thursday morning, proposes axing federal funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, as well as the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
“When you start looking at places that we reduce spending, one of the questions we asked was can we really continue to ask a coal miner in West Virginia or a single mom in Detroit to pay for these programs? The answer was no,” Mick Mulvaney told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Thursday. “We can ask them to pay for defense, Continue reading "White House Budget Director Says Single Moms Shouldn’t Have To Pay For PBS"

Jake Tapper Scolds White House On ‘Indefensible’ Wiretapping Claims

CNN’s Jake Tapper challenged the White House over its bizarre attempts to explain President Donald Trump’s claims that the previous administration spied on him.

Trump this month accused former President Barack Obama of wiretapping Trump Tower, but has yet to provide any evidence that this activity occurred. Instead, White House officials have tried to walk back Trump’s claims. Press Secretary Sean Spicer insisted that the president was speaking more broadly than just wiretapping and Kellyanne Conway even suggested that the surveillance may have been conducted through “microwaves that turn into cameras.”

But Tapper isn’t buying it.

“Sometimes revisionism is so blatant, it’s not revisionism, it’s just a complete rewrite,” he said. “The White House is now spending its energy and your tax dollars trying to change demonstrably false assertions into perfectly understandable beliefs tangentially related to the original lie. While doing so, they’re squandering their own credibility, and Continue reading "Jake Tapper Scolds White House On ‘Indefensible’ Wiretapping Claims"

Political Commentator Alan Colmes Dead At 66

Progressive Fox News commentator Alan Colmes died Thursday after a “brief illness,” his family announced. He was 66.
The news comes after Colmes announced in January that he was taking a leave of absence from the network for medical issues

Colmes began his broadcasting career in radio, working for a variety of news stations across the northeastern U.S. He joined Fox News shortly before it debuted in 1996, serving as the liberal counterpart to Sean Hannity. Their show, “Hannity & Colmes,” ran until 2009. Hannity took over at the show’s helm while Colmes stayed on at the company as a political commentator and radio host.
Hannity called his former sparring partner “one of the nicest, kindest, and most generous people.” Former Fox News host Megyn Continue reading "Political Commentator Alan Colmes Dead At 66"

Ana Navarro Shuts Down Donald Trump Supporter Who Told Her To Stop Talking

There aren’t enough   emojis in the world to properly describe what happened when a surrogate for Donald Trump told CNN commentator Ana Navarro to stop criticizing the president.
Of former national security adviser Michael Flynn’s relationship with Russia, Navarro said that, “there is a mounting level of evidence here that should be troublesome to every single American regardless of party.” Flynn resigned Monday night over potentially illegal discussions he had with the Russian ambassador last year. The White House has admitted to knowing about those conversations for weeks before the retired general was fired.
“Why hasn’t Republican leadership” investigated the allegations, said Navarro, a former GOP strategist. “We’ve known about this for so long.”
Navarro then began to criticize Trump over his comments on Russian President Vladimir Putin. But Matt Schlapp, a Trump supporter and former George W. Bush staffer, cut her off.
“Stop, stop,” Continue reading "Ana Navarro Shuts Down Donald Trump Supporter Who Told Her To Stop Talking"

Jake Tapper Calls Out Kellyanne Conway In Fiery Exchange

Jake Tapper isn’t buying Kellyanne Conway’s latest defense of Donald Trump.
Tapper on Tuesday called out the White House for accusing the media of underreporting terror attacks by playing footage of CNN reporters on the scene at those events. In response, Conway explained that the president wasn’t saying that every incident is minimized, but that covering major attacks is making the media “inured” to some of the less deadly events.
Say what?
“That’s a lovely spin, but that’s not what he was saying, Kellyanne,” Tapper said. “He was saying the media does not cover these stories... it’s offensive given that CNN and other media organizations have reporters in danger right now in war zones covering ISIS.”
Tapper also pressed Conway on Trump’s constant criticism of the media as “fake Continue reading "Jake Tapper Calls Out Kellyanne Conway In Fiery Exchange"

Anderson Cooper Shuts Down The White House’s Terrorism List In Just 45 Seconds

Anderson Cooper disproved the White House’s list of terrorist attacks it claimed the media underreported in the simplest way possible: By showing clips of his own coverage of those attacks.

“Not only did we cover many of attacks the White House released, we covered them heavily,” he said Monday night on “Anderson Cooper 360.” “I know because I was there on the ground reporting a number of them. ‘360’ was in Ottawa, Canada, October of 2014, [and] that’s on the list.”
Also on the manifesto was the 2015 mass shooting in San Bernardino, California, the 2015 terror attack in Paris, France, and the 2016 assault on a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida. All three of those stories, and many others on the list, dominated the news cycle for weeks. The Orlando incident even made news a few weeks ago after the widow of the attacker, Omar Mateen, was Continue reading "Anderson Cooper Shuts Down The White House’s Terrorism List In Just 45 Seconds"
