Tucker Carlson Takes Over Bill O’Reilly’s Time Slot In More Ways Than One

Tucker Carlson officially took over the Fox News time slot that Bill O’Reilly once occupied by praising the networks’s disgraced former host, mocking women’s rights advocates, and celebrating President Donald Trump.
“I watched Bill O’Reilly at this hour for years, and I always marveled at how well-prepared he was, how tough he was, and how crisply and directly he expressed his views,” Carlson said at the start of Monday’s episode of Tucker Carlson Tonight. “He set a high bar, and I’m gonna do my best to meet it.”
O’Reilly was ousted last week amid sexual harassment allegations. The network’s parent company, 21st Century Fox, had reportedly known about the claims for Continue reading "Tucker Carlson Takes Over Bill O’Reilly’s Time Slot In More Ways Than One"

The End Is Reportedly Near For Bill O’Reilly

Bill O’Reilly’s days appear to be literally numbered.
The Fox host’s rumored departure from the network could come as early as this week, The Wall Street Journal reported. Board members at the networks’ parent company are meeting on Thursday amid growing reports that O’Reilly sexually harassed multiple colleagues.
The New York Times revealed this month that Fox had paid at least $13 million in settlements from people accusing O’Reilly of inappropriate behavior. In the weeks since that report came out, the charges against O’Reilly have continued to pile up and scores of advertisers have dropped his show as a result.
Among the newest allegations are reports that O’Reilly, who has denied all claims, referred to a black female colleague as “hot chocolate.”
The final nail in O’Reilly’s coffin may be the loss of support from Rupert Murdoch’s two sons, James and Lachlan. According to New York Magazine’s Continue reading "The End Is Reportedly Near For Bill O’Reilly"

Daily Mail Settles With Melania Trump Over Modeling Story

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain’s Daily Mail agreed on Wednesday to pay Melania Trump an undisclosed sum and issue an apology after the news group published an article about her previous professional work as a model.
She had filed a $150 million (120 million pound) lawsuit against the Daily Mail’s owner in New York claiming the article had cost her millions of dollars in potential business.
On Wednesday, the Daily Mail apologized for the article and said it would issue a retraction.
“We have agreed to pay her damages and costs,” it said.
A person familiar with the situation said the settlement was worth less than $3 million, including legal costs and damages.

Reporter Hypnotized By Mystical Pen On Live TV

We can only wonder what an Australian news anchor was thinking when she was caught staring whimsically at a pen during a live television broadcast.
Natasha Exelby had been zoning out during a pre-taped segment on the Australian Broadcasting Network’s News 24 this weekend. The segment ended but it took a few moments before Exelby, a freelance journalist, realized the camera was back on her. Her reaction was pretty priceless.

The network on Tuesday denied earlier reports that she’d been fired, but not before viewers, including some celebrities and politicians, rushed to her defense. And fellow journalists expressed support by sharing their own bloopers.

Charlie Rose Forced To Explain Iraq War To Roger Stone

“CBS This Morning” host Charlie Rose called out a top surrogate for President Donald Trump on Tuesday for misstating key facts about the Iraq War.
“No, no,” Rose interjected after Trump ally Roger Stone claimed the FBI lied about torture and weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. “That’s not the FBI director, he was not involved in that process.”
Stone had been trying to discredit the FBI, which on Monday confirmed that it was investigating potential ties between Trump’s presidential campaign and Russia. FBI Director James Comey revealed that the probe began in July. Stone’s own ties to Russia have been called into question.
For the record, it was the the CIA, not the FBI, that provided the intelligence that Continue reading "Charlie Rose Forced To Explain Iraq War To Roger Stone"

White House Budget Director Says Single Moms Shouldn’t Have To Pay For PBS

The White House’s budget director justified proposed cuts to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting by saying that it’s not fair to ask a “single mom in Detroit” or a “coal miner” to pay for it.
The Corporation for Public Broadcasting funds PBS, which airs “Sesame Street” and other children’s shows. President Donald Trump’s federal budget plan, released on Thursday morning, proposes axing federal funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, as well as the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
“When you start looking at places that we reduce spending, one of the questions we asked was can we really continue to ask a coal miner in West Virginia or a single mom in Detroit to pay for these programs? The answer was no,” Mick Mulvaney told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Thursday. “We can ask them to pay for defense, Continue reading "White House Budget Director Says Single Moms Shouldn’t Have To Pay For PBS"

Jake Tapper Scolds White House On ‘Indefensible’ Wiretapping Claims

CNN’s Jake Tapper challenged the White House over its bizarre attempts to explain President Donald Trump’s claims that the previous administration spied on him.

Trump this month accused former President Barack Obama of wiretapping Trump Tower, but has yet to provide any evidence that this activity occurred. Instead, White House officials have tried to walk back Trump’s claims. Press Secretary Sean Spicer insisted that the president was speaking more broadly than just wiretapping and Kellyanne Conway even suggested that the surveillance may have been conducted through “microwaves that turn into cameras.”

But Tapper isn’t buying it.

“Sometimes revisionism is so blatant, it’s not revisionism, it’s just a complete rewrite,” he said. “The White House is now spending its energy and your tax dollars trying to change demonstrably false assertions into perfectly understandable beliefs tangentially related to the original lie. While doing so, they’re squandering their own credibility, and Continue reading "Jake Tapper Scolds White House On ‘Indefensible’ Wiretapping Claims"
