Former CNN Legend Larry King: CNN is ‘Not a News Network’

Talk show legend Larry King said Fox News, CNN, and MSNBC are no longer news networks thanks to their obsessive coverage of President Donald Trump. Appearing on the Law & Crime Network — Mediaite’s sister website — on Thursday, King offered the media criticism while discussing CNN’s case against the Trump administration after they pulled Jim Acosta’s press credentials. “I’m a big supporter of free speech, but on the other hand, there are 50 press passes at CNN to the White House,” King said while on the Abrams Media outlet this morning. He also praised Fox News for throwing their support behind CNN — to the shock of many — since “you could have another president in three years who throws a Fox reporter out.” King then continued discussing Acosta and Trump’s beef:
“Jim was a little out of line. I wouldn’t have gone that far, he answered one Continue reading "Former CNN Legend Larry King: CNN is ‘Not a News Network’"

Michael Avenatti Suggests Jacob Wohl Behind Domestic Violence Arrest: ‘First Mueller Now Me’

In a Thursday morning tweet, anti-Trump lawyer and #Resistence icon Michael Avenatti suggested the infamously stupid right-wing troll and conspiracy theorist Jacob Wohl is behind the domestic violence charges against him. “First Mueller and now me,” Avenatti wrote — referencing Wohl’s attempt to smear special counsel Robert Mueller with sexual misconduct allegations. “When we are fully exonerated I am coming for you Jacob Wohl aka Surefire.” Mediaite contacted Avenatti to provide evidence for his claims about Wohl but did not hear back in time for publication. Mediaite also reached out to Wohl for a response but he has thus far not replied. He made his $50,000 bail last night and said that he expects to be “fully exonerated” on all charges. “I have never struck Continue reading "Michael Avenatti Suggests Jacob Wohl Behind Domestic Violence Arrest: ‘First Mueller Now Me’"

Trump Supporter Interrupts Fiddler on the Roof Performance Shouting ‘“Heil Hitler, Heil Trump’

One of President Donald Trump’s supporters interrupted a play on Wednesday night by shouting “Heil Hitler,” which caused audience members to panic and flee from the scene over concerns that he was another far-right gunman. The Trump supporter’s neo-Nazi outburst happened during a Baltimore, Maryland performance of Fiddler on the Roof, a play about Jewish oppression in Eastern Europe, per the Baltimore Sun. “Heil Hitler, Heil Trump,” the man shouted while in the balcony sitting area. “People started running,” said Rich Scherr, a sports writer for the Baltimore Sun who attended the play. “I’ll be honest, I was waiting to hear a gunshot. I thought, ‘Here we go.’” Luckily, the man was forced to leave the venue without a reported incident. “My heart was just racing. I didn’t even really pay attention to the second act,” Scherr added. The Baltimore incident last night occurred a couple weeks after 11 Continue reading "Trump Supporter Interrupts Fiddler on the Roof Performance Shouting ‘“Heil Hitler, Heil Trump’"

LGBT Migrant Group First Part of Caravan to Arrive at US-Mexico Border

The first members of the migrant caravan have reached the U.S.-Mexico border, as a group of 80 — most of whom are LGBT migrants — arrived in a border city just below San Diego, California on Sunday, according to an NPR report. The group, primarily made-up of Guatemalan, Salvadoran, Honduran, and Nicaraguan migrants, arrived in Tijuana, Mexico first because they abandoned the main caravan in Mexico City — after facing abuse from locals — and made their own path forward. “Whenever we arrived at a stopping point the LGBT community was the last to be taken into account in every way,” Honduran migrant Cesar Mejia explained at a press conference early this week. “So our goal was to change that and say, ‘This time we are going to be first.'” One transgender woman among the LGBT migrants noted “there was no physical abuse but there was plenty Continue reading "LGBT Migrant Group First Part of Caravan to Arrive at US-Mexico Border"

CNN’s Brian Stelter Commends ‘News Side’ at Fox News For Defending Jim Acosta

CNN media reporter Brian Stelter commended the “news side” at Fox News for supporting Jim Acosta in his battle with the White House, despite the fact that many Fox News opinion hosts have bashed the CNN White House correspondent — with Sean Hannity going so far as to praise the Trump administration’s decision to remove his press credentials. “In the past few minutes, 13 different news outlets have issued a joint statement saying they are all going to be filing and joining friend of the court briefs,” Stelter reported early this afternoon. “These are not outlets that usually agree on anything, but they are all agreeing on these basic First Amendment values.” He went on to address Fox News’s “noteworthy” inclusion in the list of outlets defending CNN. “After all, a lot of commentators on Fox News, like Sean Hannity, have been criticizing Jim Acosta,” he added. “Some of Continue reading "CNN’s Brian Stelter Commends ‘News Side’ at Fox News For Defending Jim Acosta"

MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle Hits Amazon: Competition For New HQ Was a ‘Beauty Pageant,’ And They Picked the ‘Hottest Girls in School’

MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle criticized Amazon’s new headquarters decision, asking why the trillion dollar company chose a part of Virginia near Washington, D.C. and New York City when so many other major cities have ample space for such a facility and a higher need for local economic opportunities. “This thing was a beauty pageant. [Amazon] asked 22 states to put their lipstick on, get beautiful, thin it out, and give them mountains of data for each city,” Ruhle said of Amazon’s decision making process. “They didn’t need to do that if they were going to choose the two hottest girls in school.” Ruhle’s guest, Recode co-founder and editor-at-large Kara Swisher, described Virginia and New York’s $2 billion offer to Amazon as a “tax break from a company that’s essentially a trillion dollar company owned by the world’s richest man.” “It’s attracted a lot of negative attention, Continue reading "MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle Hits Amazon: Competition For New HQ Was a ‘Beauty Pageant,’ And They Picked the ‘Hottest Girls in School’"

Former ICE Director Tom Homan Thanks Fox News For Defending Agency Against ‘Abolish ICE’ Movement

Former U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement director and current Fox News contributor Tom Homan thanked the network for their help in supporting the agency amid calls for its removal. “With the help of Fox News, and myself, and the president, we’re all just saying, look, abolishing ICE equals open borders, because, if you get into the country illegally, no one’s going to look to for you to remove you, which is going to be a further enticement,” Homan said while on Fox News today. “Abolishing ICE is enticing people to come, sanctuary cities entices people to come.” The “abolish ICE” movement became widely popular among progressives in the build-up to the 2018 midterm elections, with many Democratic representatives and some senators either signing on to the cause or calling for notable reforms to the agency. ICE as a progressive target reached its highest point when the Trump administration was Continue reading "Former ICE Director Tom Homan Thanks Fox News For Defending Agency Against ‘Abolish ICE’ Movement"
