Powerful Ad Uses Trump’s Own Words To Show How Essential Planned Parenthood Is

“Millions and millions of women ― cervical cancer, breast cancer ― are helped with Planned Parenthood.”
These words were spoken by none other than President Donald Trump during his 2016 presidential campaign, specifically during the February 2016 primary debate
The footage is used in a commercial produced by Cancer Survivors Network for Planned Parenthood to show that Trump has expressed pro-Planned Parenthood views before, and to remind him to “Stand With Survivors.” The timely ad was released last week, on the heels of the GOP’s proposed health care plan, which would defund Planned Parenthood and leave 24 millions Americans without health care coverage.
The commercial features a breast cancer survivor, Jaime, who talks about her experience with Planned Parenthood and how the health care organization saved her life.
“One day, I found a lump on my right breast,” she says. “So I called Planned Parenthood, and Continue reading "Powerful Ad Uses Trump’s Own Words To Show How Essential Planned Parenthood Is"

Emily Ratajkowski: Slut-Shaming Melania Trump Isn’t OK, Regardless Of Your Politics

Emily Ratajkowski has no time for slut-shaming.
The actress and model tweeted on Monday night that a New York Times reporter called Melania Trump “a hooker,” and she was having none of it.
“Whatever your politics, it’s crucial to call it out for what it is: slut-shaming,” Ratajkowski said.

Ratajkowski, who was an outspoken Bernie Sanders supporter during the Democratic primaries, has written extensively about double standards and slut-shaming. In February 2016, she wrote an essay Continue reading "Emily Ratajkowski: Slut-Shaming Melania Trump Isn’t OK, Regardless Of Your Politics"

Time’s Powerful New Cover Reminds The World The Resistance To Trump Has Arrived

Time Magazine has used its February 8 cover to drive home the significance of the Women’s March on Washington. The cover, complete with the headline “The Resistance Rises,” features a striking image of the now-infamous pink “pussy hat.

The cover is a strong comment on powerful resistance that has formed in response to President Donald Trump, with a specific focus on the influence the Women’s March ― which close to 3 million people are estimated to have attended worldwide ― has had on public consciousness.
“There is no precedent in U.S. history for the show of collective outrage that answered Trump’s Inauguration,” wrote Time’s Karl Vick in the magazine’s cover Continue reading "Time’s Powerful New Cover Reminds The World The Resistance To Trump Has Arrived"

Gretchen Carlson’s Fight Against Sexual Harassment Is Just Beginning

On Tuesday evening, Gretchen Carlson announced that she will be starting a foundation for women and girls.
The announcement, part of her Facebook Live Q&A with Good Housekeeping’s Jane Francisco, comes just months after her controversial lawsuit against former employer Fox News. In July, Carlson accused then-Fox News CEO Roger Ailes of sexual harassment. He stepped down a few weeks later, with other high-profile women in media such as Megyn Kelly, Andrea Tantaros and Shelley Ross also coming forward about the harassment they were subjected to by Ailes.
Now that the Ailes lawsuit and Carlson’s relationship with Fox News are both over, Carlson is devoting her career to the issue of workplace sexual harassment.
Prior to her very public experience of taking on her powerful employer, Carlson had no idea that so many women also shared her experience .

“Every woman has a story,” she told Francisco on Tuesday. Continue reading "Gretchen Carlson’s Fight Against Sexual Harassment Is Just Beginning"

Gretchen Carlson Isn’t Done Fighting Against Sexual Harassment

Just because Gretchen Carlson settled her lawsuit against former Fox News CEO Roger Ailes does not mean she’s done fighting against the larger issue of workplace sexual harassment.
Carlson recently sat down with TIME Magazine to discuss her post-Fox future. Since the summer, she has become one of the most famous faces of workplace harassment. In July, Carlson filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Ailes. He denied the charges, and the two eventually settled amidst a slew of other women coming forward with similar allegations against him. Ailes stepped down from Fox News with a 60 million dollar paycheck, and Carlson was awarded 20 million in the settlement.
Carlson has become something of a symbol of strength for women who are in a similar situation. She told TIME that publicly sharing her experience has opened the floodgates for other women to share theirs.
“I think this is happening Continue reading "Gretchen Carlson Isn’t Done Fighting Against Sexual Harassment"

Watch Trump Say ‘True’ When Called A Sexual Predator In 2006

Even Donald Trump seems to be aware that Donald Trump is a predator.
A recently resurfaced clip from an appearance Trump, his daughter Ivanka and son Donald Jr. made on The Howard Stern show in 2006 shows Trump laughing off ― and even agreeing with ― the idea that he’s a sexual predator.
“Donald. Seriously, you know about sexual predators and all that,” Stern says in the clip, resurfaced by Twitter user Jonah Goodman. Co-host Robin Quivers laughs along with Stern, and interjects to say, “You are one!”
The Donald’s response? Shrugging, laughing, and saying, “It’s true.”

The clip was first tweeted out on October 13, less than a week after the now-infamous hot mic footage made headlines, and in the midst of eight women coming Continue reading "Watch Trump Say ‘True’ When Called A Sexual Predator In 2006"

Sexual Assault Hotline Traffic Spiked During The Debate

Donald Trump’s abusive behavior is news to no one ― his gaslighting techniques and creepy, leering body language fit the bill for textbook abuser.
But in the wake of his “grab ‘em by the pussy” comments that were released on Friday of last week, his inability to understand those comments aren’t simply “locker room talk,” and his parading of alleged sexual assault survivors at the second debate brought Trump to a whole new level of ugliness ― and it’s having a serious effect on the mental health and well-being on sexual assault survivors who are tuning into the debates.
According to RAINN, the sexual assault survivor nonprofit that administers the National Sexual Assault Hotline, there was a 33 percent increase in online hotline traffic over the weekend ― particularly on Sunday night, the evening of the presidential debate. “There were times when there were 20-30 Continue reading "Sexual Assault Hotline Traffic Spiked During The Debate"
