Fox News has once again won the cable news race for the month, easily outranking rivals CNN and MSNBC. The cable news network is celebrating 197 consecutive months at #1 in cable news, most prominently led by Sean Hannity. The 9 p.m. host had the most-watched show in cable news for May 2018, with 3.3 million viewers. Hannity comfortably beat out a rival who has nipped at his heels in recent months: Rachel Maddow, whose 9 p.m. show came in second overall with 2.6 million viewers. Hannity scored 650K viewers in the 25-54 demo, compared to 531K for Maddow. Fox News programs make up 8 out of the top 10 highest-rated cable news programs (in addition to Maddow at #2, Lawrence O’Donnell is at #5 between Tucker Carlson and Bret Baier). After a very long night, NBC News is calling the PA-18 special election, declaring Democrat Conor Lamb the “apparent winner” over Republican Rick Saccone. That’s according to an NBC News projection that a worn-out but nonetheless cheery Steve Kornacki appeared on Morning Joe to report — watch above. Per NBC, the Democrat was leading by 641 votes with 99 percent of the votes counted, in a district President Donald Trump won by double-digits in 2016. Lamb declared victory in the race on Wednesday morning, but Saccone has yet to concede:
CNN’s town hall with Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school students, teachers, and parents will be airing tonight at 9 pm ET. Survivors will be in attendance along with lawmakers like Senator Marco Rubio. NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch is also set to participate. The two-hour forum, titled “Stand Up: The Students of Stoneman Douglas Demand Action,” will be moderated by CNN anchor Jake Tapper. CNN will be live-streaming the town hall online. Police are storming a Florida high school after a gunman opened fire, leaving one dead and dozens more injured, according to officials. WSVN has a live stream of the Broward Sheriff’s response to the shooting. The shooting happened around 2:30 p.m. at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland. The school is now on lockdown as police respond to the incident. Police has asked students and teachers to remain barricaded inside the school until officers can reach them. Fox News reported that the shooter is wearing a maroon hoodie and black pants, and is currently in the west side of the school. Watch live above, via WSVN.
