Newt Gingrich: Trump ‘May Be the Most Effective Uprooter of Liberalism in My Lifetime’

Newt Gingrich just admitted that President Donald Trump has a tendency to muddle the details a bit, telling ABC’s Powerhouse Politics on Wednesday that Trump “often says things you can catch him on.” He also expressed some doubt that POTUS will change any time soon. “They both have a tendency to say general directions that are powerful with details that are dubious,” Gingrich told hosts Jonathan Karl and Rick Klein, comparing his truth-stretching to former Republican Ronald Reagan’s. He added, though, “I’m less sanguine than I was year ago that [Trump] is going to change because he basically emphasizes his strengths and ignores his weaknesses rather than trying to fix [them].” Then later in the interview that hit on space, the future of the GOP and of course the midterms, Gingrich noted that Trump’s “impact in the Republican party is astonishing,” and stressed that Trump was not Continue reading "Newt Gingrich: Trump ‘May Be the Most Effective Uprooter of Liberalism in My Lifetime’"

Following her dramatic ouster from her self-titled ABC sitcom, Roseanne Barr held an emotional interview with Rabbi Shmuley Boteach on her public downfall brought on by a racist tweet about Valerie Jarrett, a former adviser to President Barack Obama. “It’s really hard to say this but, I didn’t mean what they think I meant,” she said of her May tweet calling Jarrett the lovechild of the Muslim Brotherhood and Planet of the Apes. “And that’s what’s so painful. But I have to face that it hurt people. When you hurt people even unwillingly there’s no excuse.” Boteach, who serves as her spiritual adviser, interviewed the actress just one day after she was fired, making the audio public on Soundcloud Sunday. It is also transcribed in a Facebook post. During the more-than-30-minute clip, Barr offered an apology “to anyone who thought, or felt offended and who thought that I Continue reading "Roseanne Gets Emotional in Interview About ABC Cancellation, Racist Valerie Jarrett Tweet"

Following aggressive talks with exec producer Tom Werner, the Disney-owned broadcaster has handed out a 10-episode, straight to series order for Roseanne spinoff The Conners (working title). The new take, which will also be a multicamera comedy and premiere in the fall, will follow the Conner family who, after a sudden turn of events, are forced to face the daily struggles of life in Lanford in a way they never have before. ABC stressed in its announcement Thursday that former star Barr will have no financial or creative involvement in the new series.
This essentially means that everyone else on the show will still have their jobs, something Roseanne Barr herself acknowledges in a statement. “I regret the circumstances,” she Continue reading "Roseanne Minus Roseanne: ABC Picks Up The Conners Spinoff"
