carter page A new report out tonight reveals that Carter Page, a former foreign policy adviser on the Trump campaign, had met with a Russian spy in 2013. Victor Podobnyy was charged back in 2015, according to BuzzFeed, “alongside two others for acting as unregistered agents of a foreign government.” BuzzFeed obtained the court filing that shows Podobnyy had talked about “trying to recruit someone identified as ‘Male-1.'” They confirmed that this individual was, in fact, Carter Page:
Page confirmed to BuzzFeed News on Monday that he is “Male-1” in the court filing, and said he had been in contact with Podobnyy, who was working at the time at Moscow’s UN office in New York City under diplomatic cover, although he was really an SVR agent. Pressed on details of his contact with Podobnyy, Page said their interactions did not include anything sensitive. According to the complaint, Page Continue reading "Former Trump Campaign Adviser Carter Page Met With Russian Spy Back in 2013"

Sunday night saw the women of the South Carolina Gamecocks take home their first ever national championship after defeating the No. 2 Mississippi State Bulldogs, 67–55, in Dallas. The win comes on the heels of Mississippi State breaking rival UConn’s 111-game winning streak in the semifinals Friday night, though they couldn’t quite muster the same magic against the No. 1 seed on Sunday evening. The win is a landmark victor for South Carolina as this marks the women’s first ever national title, having only made their first March Madness appearance two years earlier. Aja Wilson proved the star of the game Sunday night, scoring 23 points with 10 rebounds and four blocks in the win. Shockingly enough, South Carolina didn’t sink on three point and seemed to avoid outside shots. They attacked the basket, instead, and shot 17–22 from the free-throw line. The victory came only one day after the Gamecocks men’s Continue reading "South Carolina Women Triumph Over Mississippi State, Claim First National Title"

Twitter Has Finally Dumped the Egg as its Default Profile Photo

Twitter 'What's Happening?' (Shutterstock) An iconic image is vanishing from the internet. On Twitter, communications from users with eggs as their profile images usually brought a sense of dread. As the default avatar, it often signaled disposable accounts used by trolls. Some users, however, liked how it looked, but they got lumped in with trolls even if they meant well. The egg became infamous, especially as the platform’s problems with enforcing its harassment policies grew, and just cast a negative light on Twitter in general. So the egg is gone, according to a new Twitter blog post. Officially, three reasons were given:
  • “highlight […] the diversity and expressiveness” of users and “help prompt more self-expression.”
  • A realization that the default image needs to more obviously be a placeholder.
  • This one here should be quoted in its entirety: “We’ve noticed patterns of behavior with accounts that are created only to harass others – often Continue reading "Twitter Has Finally Dumped the Egg as its Default Profile Photo"

Fox-News-008-650x390 Amid the reporting from The New York Times today about settlements paid to multiple women who alleged sexual harassment from Bill O’Reilly, a follow-up report in the Wall Street Journal says that O’Reilly’s Fox News contract was recently renewed. O’Reilly today released the following statement:
Just like other prominent and controversial people, I’m vulnerable to lawsuits from individuals who want me to pay them to avoid negative publicity. In my more than 20 years at Fox News Channel, no one has ever filed a complaint about me with the Human Resources Department, even on the anonymous hotline. But most importantly, I’m a father who cares deeply for my children and who would do anything to avoid hurting them in any way. And so I have put to rest any controversies to spare my children. The worst part of my job is being a target for those who would Continue reading "Amid News of Harassment Settlements, Report Says O’Reilly’s Contract Was Recently Renewed at Fox"

Why In the World Would Democrats Want President Trump Removed From Office?

trump2-1 While liberals are busy reacting like a school girl at a boy band concert over the apparent “Mike Flynn May Have Flipped on Trump” story, let’s stay for a moment in the semi-rational world of things we actually know, as opposed to things that some are desperately hoping will come to be. If liberals had the discipline to stay in the realm of reality, they might actually see that Donald Trump somehow being forced from office — while a fun fantasy — may actually be the worst thing that could possibly happen for them. Of all of my many objections to the Trump candidacy, the one which I felt most strongly about was that, in the long term, a Trump presidency would be worse for conservatism and the country than even a Hillary Clinton presidency would likely have been. I also felt that we conservatives would pay FAR too high Continue reading "Why In the World Would Democrats Want President Trump Removed From Office?"

‘I Cast Detect Lie on Climate Scientists’: Twitter Trolls GOP with Dungeons and Dragons-Themed Hashtag

You may have noticed a weird hashtag trending on Twitter over the last few days, and if you aren’t of the — how to put this delicately — old-school nerd variety you may not totally understand the joke. Someone took to the microblogging platform a few days ago with the particular inspired idea of casting the GOP in a game of Dungeons and Dragons. D&D, as it’s lovingly abbreviated, is a decades old role-playing game where someone acting as the Dungeon Master narrates the player’s journey of might and magic (and whimsy and wonder), guiding them through various battles, obstacles, and adventures. Play is advanced by rolling specific multi-sided dice to determine if your chosen action hits, misses, or kills you instantly (among the many possible outcomes). Basically, think of your favorite RPG video game — D&D is it’s great-grandfather. Taking all of this into consideration, #GOPdnd was born. And Continue reading "‘I Cast Detect Lie on Climate Scientists’: Twitter Trolls GOP with Dungeons and Dragons-Themed Hashtag"

CNN’s Angela Rye: Obama ‘Had To Be The Next Best Thing To Jesus’

CNN commentator Angela Rye likened former President Barack Obama to the Christian God on Monday’s Anderson Cooper 360. The liberal pundit blasted President Donald Trump for repeatedly serving as a distraction to issues that, in her view, are more important: “We’re talking about Donald Trump, once again, throwing a story line instead of talking about missing D.C. girls; instead of us talking about a white supremacist that killed a black man, and had plans to kill more black people just because of who they were; instead of talking about the healthcare debacle.” Rye then asserted that “the bigger issue that I have…is that if this would have been under the Obama administration, there would be no end to this. Barack Obama had to be the next best thing to Jesus; and here we are, just two months in and some change, there is Continue reading "CNN’s Angela Rye: Obama ‘Had To Be The Next Best Thing To Jesus’"

Bill O’Reilly Can’t Take Maxine Waters Seriously Because of Her ‘James Brown Wig’

Bill O’Reilly is unimpressed by Democratic Congresswoman Maxine Waters. Watching footage of an impassioned anti-Donald Trump speech from Waters on Fox & Friends, O’Reilly sneered at the minor Democratic icon, suggesting he couldn’t take her seriously because of her hair. “I didn’t hear a word she said,” quipped O’Reilly. “I was looking at the James Brown Wig.” O’Reilly couldn’t even hide his amusement while Waters was talking, at various points mouthing mocking comments as the congresswoman spoke about “fighting for America.” His hair remark caused a small kerfuffle on set. “I have to defend her on that,” said co-host Ainsley Earhardt. “You can’t go after a woman. Plus, I think she’s very attractive.” O’Reilly quickly pivoted to a compliment — and a plug. “She’s a sincere individual, whatever she says she believes. I love you Maxine,” said the Fox host. A tense encounter in the postgame handshake line led to a heated altercation, including a bit of shoving, between the softball coach for Florida and a player for Auburn. In the handshake line, Haley Fagan for Auburn did not put up her hand to high-five Florida coach Tim Walton. Walton, as a result, appeared to tap Fagan on the shoulder as she passed. Fagan responded by turning around and shoving Walton in the back. Walton then turned around to face Fagan, and the two got in each other’s faces. Fagan then began shouting at the Florida side, and was eventually restrained and pulled away by teammates. It turns out Fagan and Walton have a history of sorts. ESPN reports that Fagan’s older sisters, Sami and Kasey, played for Walton in 2012 and were both suspended by him. Both left the team as a result of Continue reading "WATCH: Auburn Softball Player Gets Into Heated Altercation With Opposing Coach"
