With the eyes of the nation on Florida again, MSNBC’s Ari Melber hosted his show live from Broward County tonight where protesters have gathered. And multiple times over the course of the broadcast a lot of the chanting was very much audible. Melber spoke to protesters himself earlier today and showed some of the footage, including Trump supporters who agreed with the President getting involved on the recount. As Melber spoke with his guests, however, viewers could clearly hear chanting from the protesters nearby, including things like “Stop the steal!” and one very clear chant of “Trump! Trump! Trump!” At one point when Melber spoke to Congressman Ted Deutch and said that Trump is lying about voter fraud and undermining the legitimacy of elections, very audible chants of “fake news” started ringing out. And as if to exemplify how chaotic things were, there was a bit of an Continue reading "WATCH: Protesters Chant ‘Trump!’, ‘Fake News!’ at MSNBC’s Ari Melber During Chaotic Live Show in Broward County"
MSNBC’s Ari Melber tonight criticized the media narrative surrounding the “blue wave,” and even threw a little shade at a cable news competitor. Melber claimed it was a big wave overall, first bringing up comments from James Carville (made on MSNBC) downplaying the idea of a blue wave before showing how large the 2018 wave was when put in historical perspective. “If these facts we have been reporting depart from what you hear elsewhere this week,” Melber said, “that’s because Donald Trump and his allies have been downplaying and lying about the results.” But it wasn’t just Republicans and Fox Newsers downplaying the blue wave, he noted, and that’s when the clip of Tapper came in. On election night at one point, Tapper said, “When you look at what’s going on here tonight, this is not a blue wave. This is not a wave that is knocking out Continue reading "MSNBC’s Ari Melber Hits CNN’s Jake Tapper For Downplaying ‘Blue Wave’"
MSNBC’s Ari Melber reported tonight on some pretty big, if not entirely unexpected, news about plans the Democrats have in the House majority. There have been a ton of reports in the past few weeks about investigations Democrats fully intend to open if they take back the House. And so far, several networks have already reported that’s exactly what’s going to happen. And Melber tonight reported, per “a senior Democratic source on the Ways and Means Committee tonight,” that this committee fully intends to “request President Trump’s tax returns.” The current Democratic ranking member on the House Ways and Means Committee is Rep. Richard Neal (D-MA), and Melber said that he’s serious about this request. “Under federal law, the chair of the Ways and Means Committee has the power to request anyone’s tax returns. They believe that includes, flatly, the President of the United States,” he said. And, Melber Continue reading "MSNBC’s Ari Melber: Democrats Plan to Formally Request Trump’s Tax Returns"
MSNBC host Ari Melber gave Shep Smith a shout-out on his show tonight after the Fox News anchor “grilled” his colleagues — specifically Sean Hannity — for their coverage of the migrant caravan story. “Trump’s closing argument is on defense. In red states, for red states, with talk of immigration orders that he doesn’t have the power to order and ploys like sending troops to the border this week before the midterms for a caravan that is two months away,” Melber said during a segment on Trump’s dwindling clout in the GOP. “A fact check so glaring it even occurred within the confines of Fox News.” A clip of Hannity claiming that “a highly organized, motivated, and undocumented trove of migrants [is] headed straight to the United States as we speak” then played, before Melber showed a segment of Smith essentially fact checking his opinion host colleague. “The migrants, according to Fox Continue reading "Ari Melber on Shepard Smith’s Caravan Fact-Checking: You Have a Problem When Your Message Is ‘Grilled by Your Own Side’"
Vermont Law School associate professor Jennifer Taub spoke with MSNBC’s Ari Melber tonight about the email she recently received from “Surefire Intelligence” regarding Robert Mueller. Surefire Intelligence, you’ve probably heard by now, is at the center of a serious brewing scandal involving a scheme to gin up accusations of sexual harassment against the special counsel. There has also been reporting finding a connection between The email read, in part: “I believe a basic telephone call, for which I would compensate you at whatever rate you see fit (inside reason), would be a good place to start. My organization is conducting an examination of Robert Mueller’s past. Tell me a decent method to contact you by telephone (or Signal, which would be ideal) and a beginning rate to talk with you about all encounters you’ve had with Special Counsel Mueller. We would likewise pay you for any references that you may Continue reading "Law Professor Jennifer Taub Talks ‘Really Creepy’ Email She Got as Part of Alleged Scheme to Smear Mueller"
Noted hip hop fan and MSNBC host Ari Melber invoked a high-profile rap beef to chide Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) for welcoming President Donald Trump for a campaign rally in Texas despite their heated 2016 campaign battle. During Monday night’s edition of The Beat, Melber knocked Cruz for accepting Trump’s support in his midterm fight with Rep. Beto O’Rourke (R-TX). “Critics say tonight’s rally reveals at least two things about Cruz,” Melber said. “Politically, he’s in trouble with a close race with Democrat Beto O’Rourke. And personally, his response to Trump’s attacks is to give in rather than hold his ground. That’s bigger than politics. It goes to your life ethic. “Now some claim there are no rules in these kinds of battles. Other people say there are lines that you cannot cross, that can’t be forgiven — like family. That issue in the Trump-Cruz beef was also the Continue reading "Ari Melber Chides Ted Cruz Ahead of Trump Rally By Invoking Rap Beef: As if Drake and Pusha-T Made an Album"
Georgetown University Law professor Michael Eric Dyson sounded off on Kanye West‘s visit to the Oval Office. Dyson began by reacting to West’s efforts to bring Colin Kaepernick to the White House and sit down with President Donald Trump, saying it “doesn’t make sense.” “This is such a blitzkrieg of blathering ignorance on one level,” Dyson said to MSNBC host Ari Melber, “and I say this as a man who loves Kanye West, who admires his genius, and who considers him a friend. But I beg him, I plead to him- Kanye, cease the interventions through media of trying to engage issues in which you don’t have sophisticated comprehension and knowledge.” Dyson went on to diagnose Kanye West with “PTDS” of his mother’s passing and that “we must intervene on his behalf.” “This is time for us to say, ‘Kanye, we as African American Continue reading "Michael Eric Dyson Calls Kanye West a ‘Blitzkrieg of Blathering Ignorance,’ Says He Gives ‘Cover’ to a ‘White Supremacist’"
