Bill Keller: Adding Hillary Clinton As VP Nominee Would ‘Nearly Guarantee Obama Re-election’

On Friday, the Morning Joe crew took a look into their crystal ball (sponsored by Starbucks) and glimpsed ahead into what the future may hold for big-name Democrats. Is current Vice President Joe Biden gearing up to run for another presidential run? Would President Barack Obama do well to tap Secretary of State Hillary Clinton...

New Era: Jill Abramson Begins As New York Times Executive Editor Today

It's a new day at the New York Times, and for the first time ever, there is a woman's name at the top of the masthead. Today marks the beginning of Jill Abramson's reign as executive editor of the Grey Lady. She'll take the helm from Bill Keller, who announced in June that...

Bernie Goldberg Uses Bill Keller’s Religion Column To Support Jeremiah Wright Outrage On O’Reilly

New York Times editor Bill Keller's column on religion didn't go unnoticed by "culture warrior" Bill O'Reilly on his program today, but after a segment decrying its arrogance, O'Reilly came face to face with a guest that "totally agreed" with Keller that religious ignorance should come into play in politics. Somewhat...

I happen to have that research right here, Mr. Keller: The day sociologist Zeynep Tufekci dropped a bundle of knowledge on the New York Times’s Bill Keller (with help from Twitter and a whole lot of scholarship)

Last month, The New York Times' outgoing executive editor Bill Keller trolled all of Twitter (including plenty of journalists at his own paper) by posting a single tweet: "#TwitterMakesYouStupid. Discuss." Today, Reuters's Anthony De Rosa posted an interview with Keller where (among other things), De Rosa asked him about it.

If you're a Sunday New York Times subscriber, you may have seen a letter from Times editors in yesterday's paper detailing changes in the Week in Review section, which is being renamed Sunday Reader. One section jumped out at me: The Times is planning to mingle news and opinion more because they feel it can...

This Week in Review: The Times’ changing of the guard, the news article’s future, and PBS is attacked

Every Friday, Mark Coddington sums up the week's top stories about the future of news. This week: Jill Abramson takes over at The New York Times; a debate over the merits of a news article in an age of tweets; PBS gets hacked and tries to fight back; Jann Wenner chides magazines for their iPad...

Is Twitter writing, or is it speech? Why we need a new paradigm for our social media platforms

The big debates about Twitter's overall efficacy as a medium — the ones launched by, say, Bill Keller and Malcolm Gladwell — tend to devolve into contingents rather than resolve into consensus. Why are heated debates about Twitter's effect on information/politics/us tend to be at once so ubiquitous and so generally unsatisfying? The answer may...

Meet the new boss: Jill Abramson’s NYT ascent and its potential impact on the digital side of the Times

The New York Times will have a new leader in the newsroom. Jill Abramson will replace Bill Keller, who is moving to a writing job at the paper. What will her ascent mean for the digital side of the Times? To the extent that she's carved out an outward-facing identity on the subject, it's been...

Jill Abramson Is The New York Times‘ New Executive Editor

Huge news in the world of print, and kitten videos: Jill Abramson has been named as The New York Times' new executive editor, taking over for Bill Keller, who is stepping down to become a "mere" writer at the paper.
