President Donald Trump — who takes pains to never show even the slightest bit of self-doubt in public — privately worried whether his campaign was doomed following the release of the Access Hollywood tape. That’s according to former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. Appearing on Fox News over the weekend, the governor claims Trump asked him whether the footage was a death blow to his candidacy. “He said, ‘Is it over?'” Christie said. “I said, ‘No, because you are running against the single worst presidential candidate in my lifetime. So we’ve got time to recover. But we’ve got to do it the right way.'” Christie credits the second presidential debate — which took place two days later — with helping Trump get past the controversy. “He went into that debate Sunday night, and he dealt with the issue, and he really really performed well in that debate,” Christie Continue reading "Chris Christie Reveals Trump Asked Him ‘Is It Over?’ After Access Hollywood Tape Dropped"

Chris Christie: New Subpoenas Of Trump Inaugural Committee ‘Much More Serious Threat to the Administration’ Than Mueller

Former New Jersey governor Chris Christie says the Federal investigation into Donald Trump‘s inaugural committee could be a bigger threat to the president than Robert Mueller. Prosecutors in New York’s Southern District subpoenaed the committee this week as part of an investigation of suspected corruption in terms of how it raised and spent its money. Michael Cohen and Trump Organization Chief Financial Officer Allen Weisselberg are both believed to be cooperating with investigators for this probe. As such, Christie told ABC that the SDNY investigation possibly “presents a much more serious threat to the administration” than the Russia special counsel. In an interview with MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell, Christie reiterated his threat assessment — explaining that the Southern District has a much broader leeway than Mueller for investigating Trump.
“Unlike Bob Mueller who has restrictions placed upon him by the deputy attorney general when he was appointed – that Continue reading "Chris Christie: New Subpoenas Of Trump Inaugural Committee ‘Much More Serious Threat to the Administration’ Than Mueller"

Chris Christie Says He’d Endorse Trump Over Any Potential Primary Challenger

Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie told MSNBC’s Chris Hayes tonight he’d endorse President Donald Trump over any potential GOP primary challengers. Hayes confronted Christie on Trump’s fitness to be president, the people he surrounds himself with, and what that says about him. He brought up the president being at odds with the intel community and said, “That goes to the core essence of the man and his fitness.” Christie defended Trump as someone who still sees himself as a salesman and believes if he gets in the room with Kim Jong Un or Vladimir Putin, “he’s going to be able to convince them what they’re not doing so far.” “He’s wrong and it’s dangerous that he’s wrong,” Hayes responded. Christie said other presidents have tried and failed, “so why not try something different here.” At one point Hayes offered a theory that many people in Continue reading "Chris Christie Says He’d Endorse Trump Over Any Potential Primary Challenger"

Chris Christie Tells Trump to ‘Turn Off the TV’ After Report He’s Been Maxing Out Executive Time

Chris Christie has been all over cable news over the past week promoting his new book reflecting on his (brief) time heading President Donald Trump‘s transition team. But if Christie had it his way, the commander-in-chief himself would not have been watching. Appearing on CNN’s New Day Monday, the former New Jersey governor weighed in on the report that Trump has been maxing out his “executive time” — with that nebulous term, widely thought to be dominated by cable news watching, being applied to as much as 60 percent of his schedule. Christie — who has been all over on CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News — told the president to put down the clicker. “If he’s watching you guys exclusively, that’s too much time,” Christie said. “I mean, I would tell him to turn off the TV and — no offense — but not watch you guys that much. Chris Christie: Access Hollywood Tape One of the Few Times I’ve Ever Seen Trump ‘Genuinely Embarrassed’

No, President Donald Trump is not above being embarrassed. That’s the claim of former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. In an interview slated to air in full Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. ET on SiriusXM’s POTUS channel, Christie says that Trump reacted sheepishly following the release of the infamous Access Hollywood tape. “It was one of the few times in the 17 years I’ve known him that I actually saw the president genuinely embarrassed,” Christie said. “He looked embarrassed. He acted embarrassed.” Christie also ripped former House Speaker Paul Ryan for his response — or lack thereof — during the aftermath of the video’s release.
“You have Paul out there saying all these different things during the campaign. Billy Bush weekend, Paul canceled a rally that candidate Trump was supposed to have. It’s what everybody hates about politics – it’s showboating. I was in there trying to fix Continue reading "Chris Christie: Access Hollywood Tape One of the Few Times I’ve Ever Seen Trump ‘Genuinely Embarrassed’"

Trump Shades Chris Christie, Other Tell-All Authors: ‘I’m in the White House, & They’re Not!’

President Donald Trump appeared to throw shade on Chris Christie Thursday morning, after the former New Jersey governor has appeared on nearly every cable news outlet imaginable to promote his new book Let Me Finish: Trump, the Kushners, Bannon, New Jersey, and the Power of In-Your-Face Politics. Christie, who led Trump’s transition team until he was unceremoniously fired from that position, is promoting a tell-all book that looks back at what he sees as a series of mostly bad decisions made by Jared Kushner, Steve Bannon, and yes, even the president which led to a very rocky first year in the Trump Administration. CNN’s Chris Cuomo dedicated two segments to interviewing Christie, who had previously taped appearances on Fox & Friends, Morning Joe, and The Daily Show. The commander in chief is an avid consumer of cable news programming and appeared to take a shot at Christie’s critiques Continue reading "Trump Shades Chris Christie, Other Tell-All Authors: ‘I’m in the White House, & They’re Not!’"

Chris Christie is Not Ruling Out Running for President Again

During a conversation with Comedy Central’s Trevor Noah, former New Jersey governor and 2016 Republican presidential hopeful Chris Christie did not rule out that he might run for president again, at least some day. When asked directly by Noah if he would consider another bid for the Oval Office, Christie said this: “You never say never.” Noah next asked him if he would consider running against Donald Trump. Christie said he would not. “In 2020? No, in a primary in 2020, probably not,” he said. Then when asked if any Republican could beat Trump in 2020, Christie said no, or at least how it looks “right now.” “Not now,” Christie told Noah, before adding this caveat: “Politics is a dynamic thing and you never know. But based on what you see right now, no.” Christie then stressed that it is hard to beat an incumbent president Continue reading "Chris Christie is Not Ruling Out Running for President Again"

Chris Christie: ‘What the Hell Was Somebody Like Omarosa Ever Doing in the White House?’

Chris Christie is, evidently, not a fan of Omarosa Manigault-Newman‘s. Appearing on Cuomo Prime Time Wednesday night in the latest leg of his whirlwind media tour, the former New Jersey governor cited Omarosa as one of several people in President Donald Trump‘s West Wing who shouldn’t have been there. “I believe in the old adage, garbage in, garbage out,” Christie said. “And in the beginning, [Trump] had a group of people around him like Steve Bannon, like Rick Dearborn, like Omarosa. I mean, what the hell was somebody like Omarosa ever doing in the White House?” “Only the best,” said host Chris Cuomo. Christie went on to say that the reason the president did not have the best people working for him was because of a power play on the part of Jared Kushner and Steve Bannon. “Jared Kushner, Rick Dearborn, and Steve Bannon decided Continue reading "Chris Christie: ‘What the Hell Was Somebody Like Omarosa Ever Doing in the White House?’"

CNN’s David Gregory Knocks Jared Kushner’s ‘Pity Party for His Father’: Chris Christie is Right

Former New Jersey governor and US attorney Chris Christie prosecuted Charles Kushner, Jared Kushner‘s father, and he recently trashed the elder Kushner when talking about his run-ins with the President’s son-in-law. He said, “I mean, if a guy hires a prostitute to seduce his brother-in-law and videotapes it, and then sends the videotape to his sister, to attempt to intimidate her from testifying before a grand jury, do I really need any more justification than that? I mean, it’s one of the most loathsome, disgusting crimes that I prosecuted when I was U.S. attorney!” On CNN this afternoon, Brianna Keilar discussed Christie’s comments and his beef with the younger Kushner while they were both still in Trumpworld. “Look, it’s his father, he loves him, obviously he’s gonna have a reaction to what happened to him. But let’s just put that aside for a second and Continue reading "CNN’s David Gregory Knocks Jared Kushner’s ‘Pity Party for His Father’: Chris Christie is Right"

Chris Christie Smacks Steve Bannon: He Wouldn’t Know the Lord’s Work ‘If it Hit Him Across the Forehead’

Evidently, there’s still no love lost between former New Jersey governor Chris Christie and former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon. Christie is on a media tour to promote his new memoir Let Me Finish, and on Wednesday afternoon, he gave his latest interview to Fox News’ Dana Perino. During this time, Christie was asked about the newsy elements of The Brink, an upcoming documentary on Bannon’s life ever since he departed Breitbart and fell out of President Trump‘s good graces. The flick is drawing headlines ahead of its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, not the least reason being that part where Bannon said he disliked his former job at the White House. “There’s no glamour to the job. I hated every second I was there,” Bannon said. “The West Wing has bad karma to it. They say, ‘Because you were doing bad stuff!’ But Continue reading "Chris Christie Smacks Steve Bannon: He Wouldn’t Know the Lord’s Work ‘If it Hit Him Across the Forehead’"

The View Confronts Christie on Why He Backed Trump: He Trashed You Over Bridgegate, ‘Those Are Shots Fired!’

Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie appeared on The View this morning to talk about his new book, and the hosts pressed him on his decision to end up supporting Donald Trump in the 2016 election. Meghan McCain called that infamous moment when Christie endorsed Trump the beginning of Trump becoming normalized in the GOP race. “You at the time said we are not electing an entertainer-in-chief, and then seemed to have a quick change of heart,” she said. “What made you change that decision?” Christie said Trump was clearly going to be the nominee at that point, so he decided to accept that and “get moving to try to get him to be better than he is.” “How’s that working out?” Joy Behar asked. Christie defended his decision while conceding he has problems with some of what Trump has done in office. Sunny Hostin brought up Continue reading "The View Confronts Christie on Why He Backed Trump: He Trashed You Over Bridgegate, ‘Those Are Shots Fired!’"

Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie got a rather rude reception from Stephen Colbert, who concluded his interview with Christie by asking him “Who likes you?” On Tuesday night’s edition of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Christie sat for a lengthy, tequila-soaked interview in support of his new book. While Colbert threw in the odd shot here and there, he pulled out the big guns at the end of the second segment. “Who is your constituency now? I mean, who is– who is– and I’m going to say this in the nicest possible way…” Colbert began. “You know he’s screwing me now. That’s what’s going to happen,” Christie accurately joked. “Who likes you?” Colbert asked. “You do, Stephen!” Christie replied. Pointing to his tequila shot, Colbert said “More of this and I might.” Colbert then pointed out Christie’s historically low 15% approval rating when Continue reading "Watch: Stephen Colbert Brutally Asks Chris Christie ‘Who Likes You?’"

During an appearance on Stephen Colbert’s show tonight, former New Jersey Governor and presidential candidate Chris Christie said President Donald Trump “blew it” by shutting the government down with no plan to accomplish his goal and reopening it. “Where do you think the wheels came off during the shutdown?” Colbert asked Christie tonight. “The president blew it,” replied Christie, who ran against Trump in the 2016 election but ultimately dropped out and became one of the president’s allies. “When he shut the government down with no plan to reopen it.” The host then quipped about the shutdown and subsequent negative economic impact being “entirely [Trump’s] fault.” Christie went on to tell Colbert about a conversation he had with Trump prior to the shutdown, during which he claims the Continue reading "Chris Christie: ‘The President Blew It’ by Shutting Down Government ‘With No Plan’"

Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has a lot to say about Jared Kushner, but you may not know that Christie actually prosecuted his father, Charles Kushner, when he was a U.S. attorney. On Firing Line, Margaret Hoover asked Christie about tension between him and the younger Kushner while they were both in Trumpworld. Christie ended up going on a tear against Kushner’s father and saying of course he has no regrets about going after him:
“Mr. Kushner pled guilty. He committed the crimes. And so what am I supposed to do as a prosecutor? I Continue reading "Chris Christie Tears Into Jared Kushner’s Father: ‘One of the Most Loathsome, Disgusting Crimes That I Prosecuted…’"

Chris Christie Doesn’t Think Mueller is ‘Almost Done’: ‘I Don’t Think He is Ending on Roger Stone’

Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie visited the set of Fox & Friends Tuesday morning and poured a bit of cold water on the notion that Special Counsel Robert Mueller is close to wrapping up his investigation into alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian interference in the general election. Cohost Brian Kilmeade brought up Monday’s comments made by Matt Whitaker during a Dept of Justice press conference in which the acting attorney general relayed that, in his end, the Mueller probe would be coming to an end. Christie is a former U.S. Attorney, and as such, has more knowledge and experience with the U.S. Justice Department than, say, the current acting attorney general. “Listen, Matt would know better than anybody. Since Matt is supervising it,” Christie opened before lauding the Special Counsel’s professionalism saying “I can just tell you that the thing about this Mueller investigation is Continue reading "Chris Christie Doesn’t Think Mueller is ‘Almost Done’: ‘I Don’t Think He is Ending on Roger Stone’"

Chris Christie: Trump Thought ‘Russia Thing’ Was ‘All Over’ After He Fired Flynn

Former New Jersey governor Chris Christie said in a new book that President Donald Trump — and apparently also Jared Kushner — thought the Russian “thing” would end once Michael Flynn was fired. Christie’s words — as found in his new book Let Me Finishwas reported by the New York Times on Sunday. Christie recalled Trump telling him, “This Russia thing is all over now, because I fired Flynn.” He also claimed he tried to tell Trump otherwise, telling him it was “far from over.” Trump then insisted Flynn was the problem. “Flynn met with the Russians. That was the problem. I fired Flynn. It’s over,” Trump reportedly said. Trump son-in-law Kushner was also in the room in Christie’s account of the conversation. He apparently sided with Trump. “That’s right, firing Flynn ends the whole Russia thing,” Kushner told the president. In December 2017, Trump claimed Continue reading "Chris Christie: Trump Thought ‘Russia Thing’ Was ‘All Over’ After He Fired Flynn"

Chris Christie: ‘A Very Disturbing Day For Some Senior Members of the Trump Campaign’

Chris Christie, former governor of New Jersey and briefly the head of President Donald Trump’s transition team, believes that some “senior members” of the Trump campaign ought to be worried following the Federal indictment of Roger Stone. Appearing on an ABC News special report to break down the morning’s developments, Christie saluted special counsel Robert Mueller‘s work, and thinks — based on the details of the indictment — that Stone is doomed. “When I read this indictment this morning, it once again proved out just how smart and careful Robert Mueller is being,” Christie said. “He has Roger Stone, according to this indictment, dead to rights on the perjury charges.” Christie went on to detail the potential ramifications for Trump campaign officials: “This has got to be a very disturbing day for some senior members of the Trump campaign. Because, for those folks to now be in Continue reading "Chris Christie: ‘A Very Disturbing Day For Some Senior Members of the Trump Campaign’"

A new portion of Chris Christie‘s upcoming memoir is elaborating on his disapproval for the people in President Trump‘s orbit. Axios has a report out with new excerpts from “Let Me Finish,” the autobiography from the former New Jersey governor that’ll hit the shelves later in the month. In it, Christie tears into “future federal felon Michael Flynn,” “greedy and inexperienced Scott Pruitt” and other Trump Administration “riffraff” who’ve saddled the president instead of helping him establish an actual proof of concept for governing the country. From the book, per Axios.
He got the Apprentice show loser Omarosa Manigault in whatever Omarosa’s job purported to be. (I never could figure that one out.) … Too few Kellyanne Conways. A boatload of Sebastian Gorkas. Too few Steven Mnuchins.
The new passages seem to support other previews of Christie’s book, especially the portions where he lets loose Continue reading "Chris Christie Details How ‘Riffraff’ Derailed Trump’s Transition: It Was a ‘Boatload of Sebastian Gorkas’"

Former New Jersey governor Chris Christie is apparently using part of his new memoir to rip into untrustworthy individuals surrounding President Trump within his own administration. Axios has a report on excerpts from Christie’s upcoming autobiography “Let Me Finish,” in which, Christie says Trump is dealing with a “revolving door of deeply flawed individuals — amateurs, grifters, weaklings, convicted and unconvicted felons.” Christie describes these people by saying they were “hustled into jobs they were never suited for,” even as the president “trusts people he shouldn’t, including some of the people who are closest to him.”
“I did everything I could to make sure my friend Donald reached the White House fully prepared to serve. But a handful of selfish individuals sidetracked our very best efforts. They set loose toxic forces that have made Trump’s presidency far less effective than it would otherwise have been. If this tragedy Continue reading "Chris Christie Book: Trump Surrounded By ‘Amateurs, Grifters, Weaklings, Convicted and Unconvicted Felons’"

Chris Christie’s New Political Tell-All About Trump’s Inner Circle is a Jared Kushner Bash-Fest

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who was a Donald Trump campaign surrogate and is currently a Trump-friendly CNN contributor, has fired a shot at the Trump family in his new book — accusing the Donald’s son-in-law Jared Kushner of a “political hit job” against him. Christie’s new book “Let Me Finish: Trump, the Kushners, Bannon, New Jersey, and the Power of In-Your-Face Politics” is set for release on Jan. 29, but The Guardian has an early copy and published the excerpt in question this week. In it, Christie relates the story of his firing as chair of Trump’s transition team, and puts the blame squarely on Kushner, though it was Steve Bannon, a now-fellow firee, who carried it out.
“Steve Bannon … made clear to me that one person and one person only was responsible for the faceless execution that Steve was now attempting to carry out.
President Donald Trump alongside his daughter, Ivanka Trump and her husband, Senior White House Adviser Jared Kushner during a Cabinet Meeting in the Cabinet Room of the White House October 2017
