Following Donald Trump‘s bizarre televised backtracking on Russian meddling Tuesday, CNN’s Chris Cuomo sought out a Republican willing to defend the president. Rep. Chris Collins, of New York, volunteered himself as sacrifice, and faced the wrath of Cuomo’s aggressive questioning. The CNN anchor kicked off the interview by referring to Trump’s defense of Russia and dismissal of his own intelligence community as a “betrayal of our country,” before grilling Collins on the president’s subsequent reversal. The two battled it out over Trump’s confounding statements, with Cuomo playing tapes of the president’s contradictory remarks. Towards the end of the interview, Cuomo took issue with Collins declaring Trump agrees with the US intelligence community on Russian meddling. “If he absolutely agrees with the intelligence community then why did he have to correct it today, and why were we the embarrassment of the international stage?” Cuomo asked. “We all misspeak on Continue reading "Cuomo Pummels GOP Rep. Collins After He Blames to Media For Making Trump Look Bad on World Stage"
Governor John Kasich (R-OH) spoke to CNN’s Chris Cuomo tonight, and shared his takeaway from Donald Trump‘s summit with Vladimir Putin. In short? Kasich is wondering what’s taken so long for people on the right to criticize the president. And he’s wondering why the president’s staff didn’t stop him from making some mistakes. Cuomo began the conversation by noting the outpouring of criticism Trump received from his own party after the summit was over. Kasich agreed that the critiques were “a big deal,” considering it came from the Right. But he asked “where was everybody?” when Trump spent the last few weeks picking fights with America’s allies and blowing up international diplomatic endeavors. “Why didn’t somebody step up and say ‘this is not the way to do things’?” Kasich said. “We need more people to just not say a few things or put out a few tweets, Continue reading "John Kasich Rips Trump Team For Not Stopping POTUS Mistakes on Putin Summit: ‘Where Was His Staff?!’"
CNN’s Chris Cuomo tonight repeatedly tried to get Congressman Steve King (R- IA) to understand why he should delete his tweet retweeting a Nazi sympathizer. King wouldn’t budge. King repeatedly insisted that he was only trying to share a Breitbart article and didn’t know who the person was, but he refused to back down because “I’m not obligated to do a full background check on everybody.” And if he did delete it, King said, the media would “pile on me.” Cuomo bewilderedly emphasized again that he’s giving a hateful person a platform that they don’t deserve. “You’re so caught up in this us vs. them thing… that you don’t want to give ground on even something that you acknowledge is wrong!” Cuomo cried. “How nuts is that?!” King insisted we should just all move on from this “nothing story” about a congressman retweeting a Nazi sympathizer. Of President Donald Trump‘s many media foes, none faces more mindless vitriol than CNN’s Jim Acosta. Whether he’s getting berated at Trump rallies or gleefully mocked in the pages of ostensible news website Daily Caller, Acosta has replaced “Little Katy” Tur as MAGA’s primary target. Fox News’s news website joining in on the shaming, however, is remarkable — and CNN’s Chris Cuomo took notice. “CNN star Jim Acosta shamed at Trump rally as crowd chants, ‘Go home, Jim’,” read a headline on FoxNews.com from Monday night, on a report detailing Acosta’s treatment at Trump’s rally in South Carolina. “Supporters of President Trump angrily heckled CNN White House correspondent Jim Acosta in South Carolina Monday, shouting at him to ‘go home’ and dubbing him ‘fake news Jim,'” Fox News reported. FoxNews.com’s straight reporting on Acosta getting berated at the Trump rally didn’t sit well with primetime host Cuomo, Continue reading "Chris Cuomo Scolds Fox News For ‘BS’ Report on Acosta: When Do They ‘Start Calling Themselves Trump TV?’"
Chris Cuomo and actor Antonio Sabato Jr. had a major collision tonight on CNN over the deteriorating state of civility in American politics. The conversation began with Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) — whom Sabato called “the hustler of hate” for her encouragement of people harassing Trump Administration staff in public. He also said Waters should be arrested for not being doing more to address crime or get involved in ways to help her district. Cuomo challenged Sabato on that point — as the actor grumbled that the CNN anchor was trying to change the subject. Cuomo questioned Sabato about how much he and President Donald Trump can truly accomplish if incivility keeps both political sides from cooperating. And then Cuomo brought up the times when the actor baselessly claimed that former president Barack Obama is Muslim. “How is that helpful?” Cuomo asked. Sabato dismissed the question as irrelevant to Continue reading "Chris Cuomo Battles Antonio Sabato Over Political Civility in Bizarre Interview: How Does it Help When You Call Obama a Muslim?"
CNN’s Chris Cuomo ended the 9 pm hour Friday night by blasting Fox News for “deliberately downplaying” the migrant crisis all week long. Cuomo started with a clip showing President Donald Trump talking about how some of the shelters for kids, “they’re really running them well.” He then followed it up with a series of clips, including one of Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade saying “These aren’t our kids” as evidence — according to Cuomo — that Fox News was serving as Trump’s echo chamber and selling the president’s message. “This wasn’t a one-off. Fox has deliberately downplayed this crisis all week,” Cuomo said before playing more Fox News clips. Cuomo then said this:
“Scary talk, and its designed to push this ‘Us versus them’ political philosophy. Painting migrants as dangerous folk, infesters, killers, gang bangers, and drug pushers… There is no question that some undocumented people come to America Continue reading "Chris Cuomo Calls Out Fox News for ‘Deliberately Downplaying’ Child Migrant Crisis All Week"
CNN’s Chris Cuomo delivered an emotional closing monologue to his news segment Thursday evening, shaming the Trump administration for keeping immigrant children from their families and hidden from the public eye. “They don’t want you to see the reality,” he said, noting that First Lady Melania Trump‘s trip to a child detention center in Texas earlier that day did not include visiting toddlers or iinfants who are more vulnerable than the 12 to 17 year-olds she met. “They don’t want you to see the kids crying, to get a feel for their fear and the worries of those Continue reading "Chris Cuomo Ends Show With Impassioned Monologue on Border Crisis: We Should Be ‘Better Than This’"
