Jimmy Kimmel delivered a brutal set mocking Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) over the congressman’s defamation lawsuit against McClatchy, calling Nunes a “sensitive little snowflake” who is “basically the toilet paper stuck to Trump’s shoe.” Nunes is suing the publisher over a story that ran in The Fresno Bee that connected Nunes to a yacht party at which there were allegedly cocaine and prostitutes present. On Tuesday night’s edition of Jimmy Kimmel Live, Kimmel introduced the story by noting that Nunes has “thinner skin than Donald Trump,” and that Nunes is “basically the toilet paper stuck to Trump’s shoe,” which is a thing that happened in front of the entire world. “And in a delightful twist, as he was filing this lawsuit, as he announced it to separate himself from the cocaine and prostitutes, the hashtag #yachtcocaineprostitutes became the number one trending thing on Twitter,” Kimmel noted, then Continue reading "Jimmy Kimmel Demolishes Devin Nunes: ‘The Toilet Paper Stuck to Trump’s Shoe’"

McClatchy responded to Rep. Devin Nunes‘ (D-CA) $150 million defamation lawsuit against the media company by calling it a “baseless attack on local journalism.” Nunes’ suit, which was filed in Charlottesville, Virginia court, claims the lawmaker suffered “character assassination” after McClatchy ran a story last year connecting him to a yacht used for prostitution. The McClatchy report in question ran in The Fresno Bee, a California newspaper — which the outlet described as Nunes’ “hometown news source” in their lawsuit response. “The lawsuit represents a baseless attack on local journalism and a free press,” McClatchy wrote in a statement. “At a time when local journalism is facing more pressing and urgent challenges, the lawsuit is an unproductive distraction and a misuse of the judicial system.” The response continued:
“He filed his lawsuit in the state of Virginia, California law applies to this case and Continue reading "McClatchy Calls Devin Nunes Defamation Suit a ‘Baseless Attack on Local Journalism and a Free Press’"

CNN Legal Analyst: ‘Frivolous’ Devin Nunes Lawsuits ‘Will Not End Well’ For Him

Former federal prosecutor and CNN legal analyst Renato Mariotti bashed Fox News along with Devin Nunes (R-CA) on Tuesday by warning that the congressman’s legal battles against his critics won’t lead to anything good. Mariotti took notice of Nunes when USA Today justice editor Brad Heath reported on Twitter that Fox News deleted a copy of the complaint they included in their report on Nunes’ $150 million lawsuit against McClatchy. Nunes has drawn significant attention lately with his lawsuit against Twitter, and now he claims that the Fresno Bee — a newspaper serving his district which is owned by McClatchy — defamed him by publishing false or misleading stories about him.

Congressman Devin Nunes is filing another lawsuit. Following the lawsuit he filed last month against Twitter, Liz Mair, “Devin Nunes’ Mom,” and “Devin Nunes’ Cow,” the California Republican has announced he’s filing a $150 million lawsuit against McClatchy. Why? Well, per Fox News:
[Nunes is] alleging that one of the news agency’s reporters conspired with a political operative to derail Nunes’ oversight work into the Hillary Clinton campaign and Russian election interference… Nunes again named Mair as a co-defendant, charging this time that she conspired with McClatchy reporter MacKenzie Mays to spread a variety of untruthful and misleading smears — including that Nunes “was involved with cocaine and underage prostitutes” — online and in print.
Nunes’ complaint apparently features a Fresno Bee (owned by McClatchy) article by Mays from last year headlined “A yacht, cocaine, prostitutes: Winery partly owned by Nunes sued after fundraiser event.” A McClatchy Continue reading "After Suing Twitter, Devin Nunes Announces $150 Million Lawsuit Against McClatchy"

Devin Nunes Says He’s Ready to Make Eight Criminal Referrals to DOJ for Lying, Leaking, and Conspiracy

Devin Nunes announced on Fox News on Sunday that he planned to send eight criminal referrals — five of them for lying to Congress — to Attorney General William Barr as soon as this week. Nunes did not disclose the name of the persons he says lied to Congress and are leakers. “So we’ve been working on this for two and a half years compiling information, right, as we continue this investigation,” Nunes said on Fox’s Sunday Morning Futures. “We’re prepared this week to notify the attorney general that we’re prepared to send those referrals over,” Nunes also said. “First of all, all of these are classified or sensitive. … Five of them are what I would call straight up referrals — so just referrals that name someone and name the specific crimes.” He added: “Those crimes are lying to Congress, misleading Congress, leaking classified information. So five of Continue reading "Devin Nunes Says He’s Ready to Make Eight Criminal Referrals to DOJ for Lying, Leaking, and Conspiracy"

Rep. Nunes On Russia Probe: ‘Biggest Culprit’ Has Been Media’s Nonstop Reporting on This Phony Issue

Speaking on Fox Business with Maria Bartiromo, Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) heavily criticized the Department of Justice and the FBI for their role in the Russia investigation. But he said the “biggest culprit” has been the mainstream media’s “nonstop reporting on this phony issue.” Nunes said the FBI and DOJ are running amok and wasting taxpayers money. “That anyone over FBI or  DOJ would think it is okay, to run one informant, 20 informants, whatever number into a political campaign, under a counterintelligence investigation is out of their mind,” he said. “And it’s DOJ run amok. Anyone who thinks they can pay they can take U.S. taxpayer dollars, and pay people, in the campaign, in order to get information that is DOJ and FBI run amok.” Saying Congress and the American people should not tolerate this type of behavior, he then turned his attention to the Continue reading "Rep. Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) appeared on Fox Business Thursday morning and revealed to host Maria Bartiromo plans to submit criminal referrals to the Justice Department for what he sees as false claims that led to the Special Counsel investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian election interference. After congratulating each other for what they see as being on the right side of the “Russia-gate” story, Nunes shared his “major concern” that “the FBI-DOJ falsely claimed this investigation did not begin until late July. We now know for certain that is not true.” He then announced that “we are prepared now to at least submit our first criminal referral we think will grab everybody that we need to grab to make sure that there is a proper investigation” or “at least our referral over to DOJ.” He then hedged by admitting that Congress “can’t force them Continue reading "Devin Nunes: We Are Ready to Submit First Criminal Referral for ‘Falsely Claimed’ Russia Investigation"

Devin Nunes Tells Fox & Friends ‘We Can Just Burn’ Mueller Report: ‘I Don’t Really Care’ What it Says

Among the now many thousands of responses, replies, hot takes, and reactions to the Mueller report that have accumulated since it was delivered and before it was actually read by anyone, this from Rep. Devin Nunes may be the the most uniquely extreme. Burn it, he told Fox & Friends on Sunday. Scrap the whole thing. Before he got to burning the report, though, he first said he doesn’t care about it, and neither should anyone else. “I don’t really care what the Mueller report says, the Mueller special counsel should have never been appointed,” said Nunes. “And I say that and we can take any part of this investigation and we can show you how fraudulent it is.” He focused on his issues with the investigation itself, bringing up Andrew McCabe and saying the entire idea of collusion was “a myth” and “a lie.” Co-host Katie Pavlich Continue reading "Devin Nunes Tells Fox & Friends ‘We Can Just Burn’ Mueller Report: ‘I Don’t Really Care’ What it Says"

President Donald Trump, on Thursday, called for House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) to receive the Medal of Honor. During a sprawling rant in a phone interview with Fox & Friends, the president lauded the California Congressman for his efforts investigating former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, former FBI Special Agent Peter Strzok, and former FBI lawyer Lisa Page. “People like Devin Nunes, he should get — if this all turns out like everyone thinks it will, Devin Nunes should get the Medal of Honor,” Trump said. “He is really — what he’s gone through, and his bravery. He should get a very important medal.” Trump later clarified his comments, saying he’d call for Nunes to be given the Medal of Freedom instead — as it is an honor reserved for civilians. Devin Nunes Reportedly Went to London to Dig Up Dirt on Trump Dossier Author Christopher Steele

Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA), the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, took a trip to London earlier this month. His reported aim? Digging up dirt on Christopher Steele, the former British intelligence author who wrote the dossier probing President Donald Trump‘s connection to Russia. According to the Atlantic, Nunes flew to the U.K. in search of information of Steele’s service record, and to examine Steele’s ties to U.S. Justice Department official Bruce Ohr — who’s drawn Trump’s ire of late for his contact with Steele. To that end, Nunes — per the Atlantic‘s report — sought meetings with the heads of MI5, MI6, and the Government Communications Headquarters. But he came up mostly empty. The Atlantic reports, through an unnamed source, that British officials were hesitant to meet with Nunes — believing that he was “trying to stir up a controversy.” Ohr is set Continue reading "Devin Nunes Reportedly Went to London to Dig Up Dirt on Trump Dossier Author Christopher Steele"

Joe Scarborough Tears Devin Nunes, House Freedom Caucus: They’re Protecting Putin, Covering Up Russia’s Crimes

Joe Scarborough blasted Devin Nunes on Thursday over the congressman’s newly-revealed statements about doing everything he can to protect President Trump from the ongoing investigations into Russia. The conversations on Morning Joe revolved around the tapes Rachel Maddow obtained last night with audio of Nunes telling fellow Republicans “we’re the only ones” who can save Trump from Robert Mueller. As Kasie Hunt noted how the tape raises questions about whether the GOP as a whole will protect Trump “at all costs,” Scarborough compared the House Intelligence Committee chairman and members of the House Freedom Caucus to the “useful idiots” who would apologize for America during the Cold War.
“We Republicans excoriated them, called them useful idiots for always apologizing for the Russians and always being part of the blame America first crowd. Well, when you look at what leaders of the Freedom Caucus are doing, when you look at what Continue reading "Joe Scarborough Tears Devin Nunes, House Freedom Caucus: They’re Protecting Putin, Covering Up Russia’s Crimes"

On Wednesday, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow released audio of Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) speaking at a Republican fundraiser in what he believed was outside the earshot of the public and the press. The fundraiser was for House Republican Conference Chairwoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers who just narrowly won her primary bid. During the talk with his fellow Republicans, Nunes said this: “So therein lies, so it’s like your classic catch-22 situation, where we were at a — this puts us in such a tough spot. If Sessions won’t un-recuse and Mueller won’t clear the president, we’re the only ones — which is really the danger. GOP Rep. Devin Nunes in Leaked Audio Says Trump Tweets Make Him ‘Cringe’

Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) said at a private fundraiser that President Donald Trump‘s tweets sometimes make him cringe, the audio of which was obtained by MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow. Nunes, Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee and a staunch Trump supporter (or stooge, depending on which team you bat for), made the comments at a fundraiser last week for Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA). While speaking about Special Counsel Robert Mueller‘s probe at the dinner, Nunes said, “they know it’s ridiculous to go after the President for obstruction of justice.” He then referenced reports that Mueller’s team is looking at Trump’s tweets for possible obstruction. “But if they tell a lie often enough and they put it out there and they say, ‘Oh, we’re looking at the tweets,’ and you know you’ve got a mixed bag on the tweets, right?” Nunes said. “Like sometimes you love the Continue reading "GOP Rep. Devin Nunes Gifted With Bright, Yellow Sneakers to Help Him Run Away from Tough Questions

Congressman Devin Nunes (R-CA) just got some sweet new kicks in case he ever feels like running away from reporters who might ask him difficult questions. For the last few months, Nunes has been mocked and ridiculed by the Swamp Accountability Project, an organization devoted to challenging Donald Trump and other “ethically-challenged politicians” who embody the swamp that the president promised to drain. Republican consultant Liz Mair is a spokeswoman for the group, and she recently pulled a prank on Nunes for ducking questions about the House Intelligence Committee’s Russia investigation by leaving in the middle of a Rules Committee hearing. Mair filmed a video of herself delivering some brand new sneakers to Nunes’ office so he can flee from tough situations in style and comfort. “He hasn’t been very courageous about taking questions, answering questions,” Mair said. “So we feel these are appropriate for Devin Nunes, and they’ll Continue reading "Devin Nunes Gifted With Bright, Yellow Sneakers to Help Him Run Away from Tough Questions"

Devin Nunes Responds to Trey Gowdy Dismissing ‘SpyGate’ and Defending the FBI

Congressman Devin Nunes appeared on Fox News this morning to speak with Maria Bartiromo, and right off the bat she asked him about comments from his colleague Trey Gowdy. Gowdy went on Fox last week and not only dismissed President Trump‘s “SpyGate” claim, but he defended the FBI’s actions and said based on everything he knows they acted appropriately and in a way Trump himself would have wanted. Nunes was not overly critical of Gowdy this morning, but he emphasized a few times this is what Gowdy “believes” based on what he’s seen. “Mr. Gowdy loves the FBI and the Department of Justice,” Nunes told Bartiromo. “I think all Americans want a good Department of Justice and FBI doing their job. And if they’re targeting Russians or Chinese or what have you, that’s what we expect them to do. However, the challenge we have in this is that Continue reading "Devin Nunes Responds to Trey Gowdy Dismissing ‘SpyGate’ and Defending the FBI"

Chuck Schumer: House Republicans Secretly Tell Me Devin Nunes is ‘Off the Deep End’

Taking the Senate floor in a fiery speech Tuesday morning, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said members of Rep. Devin Nunes‘s (R-CA) own party “think he’s off the deep end.” The remark came during a statement about President Donald Trump‘s Sunday demand that the Department of Justice launch an investigation into whether a spy infiltrated his election campaign, a move which would counter Special Counsel Robert Mueller‘s Russia probe. Schumer said Trump’s request broke “longstanding and critical norms against political interference in law enforcement matters.” On Monday, the president met with FBI Director Christopher Wray and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, reaching an agreement with Rosenstein for the counter-investigation to be launched.  Flabbergasted by the meeting, Schumer called it “amazing.” “The president and his staff should not be involved in reviewing or dissemination of sensitive investigatory information involving any open investigation, let Continue reading "Chuck Schumer: House Republicans Secretly Tell Me Devin Nunes is ‘Off the Deep End’"

Trump Calls on Justice Department to Release Mueller Probe Documents: ‘Drain the Swamp!’

This post is by Aidan McLaughlin from Mediaite

President Donald Trump took to Twitter on Saturday to tout his latest theory that the “FBI or DOJ was infiltrating” his campaign during the 2016 election in order to sabotage it and allow for a Hillary Clinton victory. This latest theory is based on a New York Times report that revealed the FBI launched an incredibly secretive investigation into the Trump campaign in 2016 and used an informant to glean info from four campaign affiliates: Michael Flynn, Paul Manafort, Carter Page, and George Papadopoulos. That report was seized on by the Russia investigation’s chief critics in the media who argued it was evidence the FBI spied on the Trump campaign with the malicious intent of setting then-candidate Trump up and bringing him down (they clearly did not do a very good job of it, but that’s apparently beside the point). Trump himself has enjoyed this narrative, tweeting about it often, Continue reading "Trump Calls on Justice Department to Release Mueller Probe Documents: ‘Drain the Swamp!’"

Officials Reportedly Warned White House Turning Over Info Requested by Nunes Could Endanger an Intel Source

Congressman Devin Nunes has been very vocal decrying the DOJ for not handing over documents, and a new report says there’s a reason the DOJ has not handed them over yet. Per The Washington Post
Last Wednesday, senior FBI and national intelligence officials relayed an urgent message to the White House: Information being sought by House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes could endanger a top-secret intelligence source… For the intelligence agencies, Nunes’s request threatened to cross a red line of compromising sources and methods of U.S. intelligence-gathering, according to people familiar with their views. Intelligence officials fear that providing even a redacted version of the information Nunes seeks could expose that person and damage relationships with other countries that serve as U.S. intelligence partners.
There are several important points of note here, including the revelation that info from that source “had been provided to the Mueller investigation.” Continue reading "Officials Reportedly Warned White House Turning Over Info Requested by Nunes Could Endanger an Intel Source"
