On Sunday, former First Lady Michelle Obama made a surprise appearance at the Grammy Awards, standing on the stage with Lady Gaga, Jada Pinkett Smith, Jennifer Lopez and host Alicia Keys. The audience lost their collective sh*t. “From the Motown records I wore out on the south side,” Obama said, as the audience erupted into thunderous applause. She continued on: “To the Who Run the World songs that fueled me through this last decade, music has always helped me tell my story and I know that’s true for everybody here. Whether we like country or rap or rock, music helps us share ourselves share ourselves: Our dignity and sorrows, our hopes and joys.” She added: “Music shows us that all of it matters, every story within every voice, every note within every song. Is that right, ladies?” Here are some of the reactions from the auditorium.

This year’s Grammy awards were somewhat controversial. When Adele won Album of the Year, her acceptance speech was, in part, about how she thought Beyoncé should have taken home the night’s top honor. Now, Justin Timberlake is weighing in, and he’s got other ideas. He took to Twitter today to say he thinks Frank Ocean should have won for Blonde. Ocean didn’t submit his album for consideration this year and wrote a Tumblr post criticizing the show.

Not everyone agreed with Timberlake. Lots of people were angry…

Adele had a pretty awesome night tonight. She performed twice, and save for one hiccup, she was just as amazing as she’s ever been. She also took home the awards for Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year, among others. During her last acceptance speech, for Album of the Year, she stopped to thank Beyoncé who was nominated in the category. “My artist of my life is Beyoncé,” she said. “And this album for me, the Lemonade album is just so monumental, Beyoncé. It was so monumental and so well thought out and so beautiful and soul-bearing and we all got to see another side of you that you don’t always let us see and we appreciate that… You are our light.” Adele continued, “And the way that you make me and my friends feel, and the Continue reading "‘You Are Our Light’: Adele Praises Beyoncé During Album of the Year Acceptance Speech"

It’s not Metallica’s night, and fans of the band are not happy. Not only did lead singer James Hetfield‘s microphone not work during the first moments of the band’s collaboration with Lady Gaga, but Laverne Cox also didn’t mention them when she introduced the performance. She only mentioned Gaga specifically. Fans of the band are angry, and some are suggesting that someone at the Grammys actually has it out for them:
