Some of the most notable reactions to the infamous Helsinki summit came from Fox News and Fox Business hosts who tore into President Donald Trump over his shocking public statements about Russian hacking in front of Vladimir Putin. One such reaction came from Fox Business’ Trish Regan. Regan got fired up after Trump’s comments at the time, saying he should have defended the U.S. and even going so far as to suggest what the President did was “unpatriotic.” So when Regan spoke with Trump for her big interview tonight––her second night in primetime––she brought up Helsinki, acknowledged her criticisms, and asked Trump about his meeting with Putin. “I wondered why you weren’t tougher on Putin,” she said. “But you’ve said you had a great meeting. You met with him one on one. What happened?” Trump said being tough could’ve been easy for him and said that their Continue reading "Fox Business’ Trish Regan Presses Trump on Helsinki After Past Criticism: ‘I Wondered Why You Weren’t Tougher’"

Joy Behar Smacks Trump For Calling NYT Op-Ed ‘Treason’: ‘He Committed Treason’ at Putin Summit!

Donald Trump accused The New York Times of “treason” for publishing the anonymous op-ed condemning him from within his own government, but Joy Behar says the real “treason” was Trump’s submissiveness to Vladimir Putin at their summit in Helsinki. The ladies on The View were fired up as they talked about the ongoing intrigue over who might have been responsible for the op-ed. The conversation ended up gravitating around Melania Trump‘s denouncement of the piece, and whether it really matters if the writer ever gets revealed. “I actually think it’s going to come back to bite this person,” said Abby Huntsman. “It’s made it difficult for people that are serving in the administration, that are the ‘adults,’ but now, they’re going to think twice every time they do push back because they’re trying to figure out who this person is.” Whoopi Goldberg said Trump has created a fearful Continue reading "Joy Behar Smacks Trump For Calling NYT Op-Ed ‘Treason’: ‘He Committed Treason’ at Putin Summit!"

This morning, National Security Advisor John Bolton met with his Russian counterpart Nikolai Patrushev, and among many important pieces of information released to the press, there were two particularly revealing moments. Bolton held his presser separately from Patrushev because, he told reporters, because of a disagreement over what to talk about. “We might have had a joint statement,” he said. “But I felt it was important to mention election meddling, which was raised a number of times during these consultations today which lasted a little bit over five hours, but we weren’t able to reach agreement on that so we decided to go ahead and we’ll each speak individually.” That is not to say the issue of election meddling being brought up during their discussion became the sticking point, but rather that they couldn’t agree on whether to bring up election meddling during a press statement. Bolton wanted Continue reading "John Bolton Says Russia Refused Joint Statement Over Disagreements on Election Meddling"

As the White House offers to roll out the welcome mat for President Vladimir Putin, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) admitted President Donald Trump‘s friendly behavior toward the Russian leader is troubling. But it took a good deal of grilling by CNN’s Jake Tapper to get there. “[Putin] is not interested in better relations with the United States,” Rubio told Tapper in a State of the Union interview Sunday. ” I think walked away from that a long time ago. He’s interested in gaining advantage at our expense and to his benefit. As as long as we go in with a very clear understanding, we can engage him all we want but not under any illusions.” Tapper said that Rubio has “suggested” that Putin has been responsible for war crimes. Rubio corrected “suggested” saying “no I know he has been, I know he has.” “This is Continue reading "Jake Tapper Battles Marco Rubio on Trump’s Russia Flubs: ‘Don’t You Think You’re Being Remarkably Forgiving’"

Former Secretary of State John Kerry lambasted President Donald Trump‘s Helsinki, Finland press conference with Russian President Valdimir Putin, calling it a dangerous show of subservience on the international stage. “I found it shocking,” he told CBS’ Margaret Brennan on Face the Nation during a Thursday interview. “I found it to be one of the most disgraceful,  remarkable moments of kowtowing to a foreign leader by an American president that anyone has ever witnessed.” Kerry’s criticism comes just three days after Trump’s summit with Putin, for which he has been bashed by numerous lawmakers on both sides of the aisle and even his friends Continue reading "John Kerry Shocked Over Trump’s Helsinki Remarks: ‘I Don’t Buy His Walk Back for One Second’"

Trump Reportedly Told Putin He Would Consider Proposal to Hold Referendum on Crimea

During a private conference Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin told diplomats that he proposed holding a referendum in Ukraine to President Donald Trump, Bloomberg reported. The referendum would determine the fate of Crimea, the peninsula forcibly annexed by Russia in 2014. The scoop came from two insider sources who attended the speech where Putin revealed the potential plan. According to Putin, Trump asked the Russian leader to keep the proposal private so that he could consider it. The referendum would reportedly entail voting in the country’s separatist territories to allow residents to choose the status on their respective regions. The bulk of what the two presidents discussed in Helsinki, Finland this week remains a mystery, while on Twitter, Trump has hailed it as “a great success” during which he and Putin “got along well,” despite a number of U.S. lawmakers and the intelligence community expressing grave concerns and Continue reading "Trump Reportedly Told Putin He Would Consider Proposal to Hold Referendum on Crimea"

Trump Stated 8 Complete Falsehoods in Tucker Carlson Interview. The Fox Host Corrected Him 0 Times.

President Donald Trump – surprise, surprise – didn’t totally tell the truth in his interview with Fox News’ Tucker Carlson. Nestled between a plethora of half-truths and fudges on the economy, immigration, and the DNC, Trump told a bunch of out-and-out lies, which Carlson – despite his frequent insistence that the media fails to report facts and that governmental institutions cannot be trusted – did not check. Here are the absolute lies our Commander-in-Chief told with Tucker Tuesday: 1. “In World War II, Russia lost 50 million people.” In an attempt to explain his kowtowing to Putin, Trump informed Carlson that Russia fought with the US in World War II. In doing so, he proclaimed that Russia “lost 50 million people.” Not even close. Russia did suffer heavy, heavy casualties in WWII, but they didn’t lose nearly 50 million people. The actual number’s about 20 million people. 2. Continue reading "Trump Stated 8 Complete Falsehoods in Tucker Carlson Interview. The Fox Host Corrected Him 0 Times."

Nicolle Wallace: Trump is Weaving a ‘Web of Lies’ With Attempt at Russia Clean-Up

There was no way MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace was letting President Donald Trump get away with his flimsy explanation for his mind-boggling performance in Helsinki Monday. “The president engaged in feeble cleanup this afternoon,” she began in a segment Tuesday, playing a clip of President Trump saying that he meant to say that he sees no reason that it “wouldn’t” be Russia who meddled in the 2016 elections. “You know how you know that’s a lie?” Wallace asked. “You know how long it takes when you’re president to get a clip of your press conference? About 60 seconds.” “We just learned though that stunning attempt at cleanup, most of it read from prepared remarks, followed an unscheduled meeting this morning of Trump’s top national security advisers concerning Russia and all the fallout from Helsinki,” she continued. Wallace then introduced her panel for the segment and turned to one of Continue reading "Nicolle Wallace: Trump is Weaving a ‘Web of Lies’ With Attempt at Russia Clean-Up"

Trump Adds Notes in Margins of Written Statement on Russian Meddling: ‘THERE WAS NO COLUSION’

President Donald Trump couldn’t help but adding one of his favorite phrases to staff-prepared remarks today. When trying to convince the world that he actually meant to say he saw no reason it “wouldn’t” be Russia who interfered in the 2016 elections rather than “would,” the notes written in the margins of his prepared remarks – in all caps and in big, black Sharpie – read “THERE WAS NO COLUSION.” Now, given how many times the president has seen and spat the word “collusion,” you’d think he’d know how to Continue reading "Trump Adds Notes in Margins of Written Statement on Russian Meddling: ‘THERE WAS NO COLUSION’"

Fox’s Bret Baier Holds Up Newspapers From Pro-Trump Sources Ripping Presser: ‘Big Bear Hug to Wicked BFF Vlad’

Fox News’ Bret Baier was not willing to be generous to President Donald Trump after the summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin. “It was a big deal and I don’t think it’s going to go away for a couple days,” Baier said to Dana Perino of the president’s almost universally appalling showing in Helsinki. “There will be people out there who say, of course Ben Sasse is ripping on the president’s press conference. But it’s not just Ben Sasse or Lindsey Graham or Bob Corker or Jeff Flake, traditional voices that maybe raise concerns about something the president said.” “When Newt Gingrich, former House Speaker, says, ‘he must clarify his statements, it’s the most serious mistake of his presidency, and it must be corrected immediately,’ you have a problem and a cleanup on aisle five that may need to be made today,” he added. “Just to give Continue reading "Fox’s Bret Baier Holds Up Newspapers From Pro-Trump Sources Ripping Presser: ‘Big Bear Hug to Wicked BFF Vlad’"

Media Twitter Eviscerates Trump’s ‘Sad’ Try at Damage Control: ‘He Literally Said the Exact Opposite’

As President Donald Trump engaged in damage control after publicly doubting U.S. intelligence, reporters were amazed by his excuse that he simply forgot the “not” when he said that he didn’t see why Russia would have meddled in the 2016 election. Now, he says he meant to say “wouldn’t,” making a double negative. However, that explanation was met with collective shock and even laughter from the media, who took to Twitter to condemn the president’s backpedaling, some finding it downright bizarre. Rand Paul Offers Defense of Trump Presser Blaming ‘Partisan Investigation’ Fatigue, Trump Thanks Him Bigly

Perhaps the only guy in the free world who supported President Donald Trump‘s performance in Helsinki Monday got a shout-out from the man himself the very next day. Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) insisted on CBS This Morning on Tuesday that President Trump’s attempt at diplomacy with Russian President Vladimir Putin was a good one, despite reporters’ pointed questions trying to steer him in a different direction. “The bipartisan consensus said you shouldn’t meet with Putin. They also said you shouldn’t meet with Kim [Jong Un]. This is an extraordinary thing about President Trump that should be lauded and not belittled, is that he is willing to meet with adversaries to try to prevent us from having World War III,” Paul maintained. This staunch support in the face of – erm, facts – was noticed and applauded by Trump:

At the start of the new session, Trump can be heard saying his meeting with Putin, who met earlier today in Helsinki, Finland for a discussion between just the two of them, was “good.” “I think it’s a good start,” Trump said to a reporter who asked how their over two hours long talk went. “A very good start for everybody.” The presidents were not alone during the working lunch however, as Trump can be spotted with Secertary of State Mike Pompeo, Chief of Staff John Kelly, National Security Advisor John Bolton, and the US Ambassador to Russia Jon Huntsman, while Putin and

Trump Winks At Putin At Beginning of Presser, Freaking Out the Western World

President Donald Trump winked at Russian President Vladimir Putin at the beginning of a presser that was characterized by “awkward body language” and tame, short answers. Trump’s friendly gesture was the wink heard round the world and supported a tweet the president sent out earlier which indicated that the cause of U.S.-Russian tensions was not Russia, but the United States and, particularly, the Mueller probe. More discomfiting still, Russia’s foreign ministry agreed with Trump’s assessment, tweeting out as much Monday. People reacted harshly to Trump’s little wink at Putin and his overall demeanor with the Russian president:

Ahead of his summit in Helsinki, Finland, President Donald Trump blasted Peter Strzok‘s testimony Saturday, calling Special Counsel Robert Mueller‘s investigation a distraction from his upcoming meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. “I think we’re greatly hampered by this whole witch hunt that’s going on in the United States, the Russian witch hunt, the rigged situation,” Trump told CBS’ Jeff Glor at from his Turnberry, Scotland golf resort. “I watched some of the testimony, even though I’m in Europe, of Strzok, and I thought it was a disgrace to our country. Trump continued railing against the former FBI agent who’s anti-Trump text messages led to his firing from Mueller’s team, adding that Strzok wanted “to do things against me before I was even–I guess before I was even the candidate.” The president also remarked on Strzok’s explanation of his text to former FBI lawyer Lisa Page, Continue reading "Ahead of Putin Summit, Trump Says ‘We’re Greatly Hampered by This Whole Witch Hunt’"

Fox News’ Sean Hannity and Tucker Carlson will be the first to interview President Donald Trump following his Finland summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday. Both interviews are set to occur in Helsinki, the capital city where Trump’s meeting will take place. During his visit with Putin, Trump is expected to discuss a range of issues, from election meddling to nuclear power and arms control, amid calls for the summit to be cancelled over a series of fresh indictments of a dozen Russian intel officers for hacking into the servers of the Democratic National Committee with the intent of meddling in the 2016 presidential election.
