WATCH: Trump Kisses Hope Goodbye as Hicks Departs From White House

Hope is officially gone. Ex-White House Communications Director Hope Hicks spent her second to last day in the West Wing saying goodbye to her colleagues, including President Donald Trump — who presented Hicks in front of waiting cameras for what appeared to be a final photo-op. The pair kissed each other on the cheek, shook hands multiple times, exchanged pleasantries and literally went their separate ways in front of a pool of reporters and photographers capturing the moment. Hicks seemed to say “goodbye” to the president before walking back toward the White House, as Trump walked toward Marine One to depart from for Ohio. Here are few reactions from Twitter:

Hope Hicks’ Replacement Could Reportedly Be Mercy Schlapp or Tony Sayegh, Who Have Been Gutting Each Other

White House Communications Director Hope Hicks is departing the White House today, and according to New York Magazine‘s Olivia Nuzzi, “The race to fill the Hicks void is a clandestine parade of all the worst human impulses.” Nuzzi reports that two early frontrunners for the job are director of strategic communications Mercy Schlapp and Treasury Department spokesperson Tony Sayegh, who were both former Fox News contributors (big surprise), and who have wanted to kill each other over the job (even bigger surprise). Most of the vitriol is reportedly on the Schlapp side: Former White House officials speculate that with the help of her husband, American Conservative Union chairman Matt Schlapp, she has been trying to smear Sayegh, who worked extensively with and is well-liked by Hicks, in conservative media. Not only would Mercy’s rise signal success for her, but it would also prop up her Continue reading "Hope Hicks’ Replacement Could Reportedly Be Mercy Schlapp or Tony Sayegh, Who Have Been Gutting Each Other"

Losing Hope: WH Staffers Reportedly Dreading What Happens in the ‘Post-Hicks Era’

With Hope Hicks leaving the White House, White House staffers are apparently dreading the “post-Hicks era.” A new report from CBS News says Hicks was an invaluable part of the Trump team, and now that she’s gone things may go a little off the rails:
Staffers are approaching the post-Hicks era with trepidation, unsure what to expect in a lawless White House with a president who thrives on chaos and resents authority, process and order. Hicks even used her standing to shield others from the wrath of Mr. Trump’s explosive outbursts. “She’s the glue to the entire place,” a White House source said. “She helps keep the White House from fracturing. I don’t think people realize what’s about to happen once she leaves.”
There is currently an internal White House search for who will be Hicks’ replacement as communications director. Kellyanne Conway will reportedly be serving in an Continue reading "Losing Hope: WH Staffers Reportedly Dreading What Happens in the ‘Post-Hicks Era’"

Olivia Nuzzi Says Lewandowski Contacted Her to Complain About Hope Hicks Profile: ‘Dishonest Person’

Olivia Nuzzi revealed on CNN Monday that Corey Lewandowski was no fan of her sprawling Hope Hicks profile — which suggested a love triangle between Corey, Hope and wife-beating Trump aide Rob Porter was responsible for the latter’s ouster from the White House. A quick recap, for those not caught up on the latest episode of the Real World: White House. Lewandowski, President Donald Trump’s first campaign manager, allegedly had a relationship with Hicks during the 2016 election. It ended, apparently non-amicably. When Hicks followed Trump to the White House, leaving Corey behind, she began dating senior aide Rob Porter. Lewandowski, according to Nuzzi’s profile, sought to take down Hicks’ new paramour, and may have been behind the revelations that Porter abused both of his ex-wives, which led to his ouster from the White House. Appearing on CNN, Nuzzi revealed that Lewandowski reached out to her about her Hicks profile, Continue reading "Olivia Nuzzi Says Lewandowski Contacted Her to Complain About Hope Hicks Profile: ‘Dishonest Person’"

John Kelly Reportedly Didn’t Like Hope Hicks Because ‘He Thinks Women Should Be Subservient to Him’

John Kelly was no friend of Hope Hicks. That according to Olivia Nuzzi — author of this week’s sprawling New York magazine cover story on Hicks, who recently resigned as White House Communications Director. According to the report, the White House Chief of Staff blamed Hicks for enabling what he saw as President Donald Trump‘s worst habits. Nuzzi quoted an unnamed former senior White House official who said the following of the Kelly/Hicks relationship, and Kelly’s views of women overall.
“He was extraordinarily dismissive of her. He would refer to her as ‘the high-schooler.’ He doesn’t like a woman that potentially has some position of power over him. He thinks women should be subservient to him. If you look at his relationship with Ivanka [Trump] or Hope — women who aren’t subservient to him — he has problems with those people.”
Kelly, according to Continue reading "John Kelly Reportedly Didn’t Like Hope Hicks Because ‘He Thinks Women Should Be Subservient to Him’"

Hope Hicks Reportedly Told House Intel Committee Her Email Account Was Hacked

This news seems likely to elicit a chuckle or two in the Hillary Clinton camp. According to NBC News, citing four sources, Hicks — under questioning from Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT) said that she no longer had access to two of her email accounts. Lawrence O’Donnell Tears Hope Hicks Apart: ‘The Most Incompetent WH Comms Director in History’

MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell slammed White House Communications Director Hope Hicks for her handling of the abuse allegations of her boyfriend Rob Porter. O’Donnell began by mocking White House Counsel Kellyanne Conway for insisting that there was nothing to worry about regarding Hicks and her relationship with Porter because Hicks is “so strong.” “Rob Porter’s former girlfriend just wasn’t ‘strong’ enough. That’s why he physically abused her,” O’Donnell reacted. “His two former wives just weren’t ‘strong’ enough. That’s why he physically abused them. That’s why he punched Colbie Holderness and gave her that black eye. Because she wasn’t ‘strong’ enough. That’s the Trump White House position on why no one has to worry about Hope Hicks — because she’s ‘stronger’ than the women Rob Porter victimized.” He insisted that Hicks has always gotten “very special treatment” from President Trump, the Trump family, and from the press. He Continue reading "Lawrence O’Donnell Tears Hope Hicks Apart: ‘The Most Incompetent WH Comms Director in History’"
