Scarborough Compares Trump’s Wall Deal to The Simpsons: He Said ‘We’ll Take It’ to an Offer of Zero

Joe Scarborough mocked President Donald Trump on Wednesday by saying negotiations for southern border wall funding have reached The Simpsons levels of absurdity. Morning Joe used portions of their show to talk about the possibility that Trump could sign the new bipartisan spending bill being floated through Congress, even though it provides only a fraction of the wall funding he demanded. This prompted Scarborough to marvel that Trump might end up taking even less border security money than he would’ve gotten if he just took the deal he rejected before the recent government shutdown.
“This reminds me of Homer Simpson and Lionel Hutz negotiating with Montgomery Burns where he says ‘I have another offer for you’ and hands him a slip of paper that says zero, and they go, ‘we’ll take it!’ And then, of course, Mr. Burns says, release the hounds.”
It seems the Morning Joe crew Continue reading "Scarborough Compares Trump’s Wall Deal to The Simpsons: He Said ‘We’ll Take It’ to an Offer of Zero"

Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld Mocks Scarborough for Trump Criticism: ‘You Helped Elect Him’

On Fox News’ The Five today, Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld swiped at MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough for criticizing President Donald Trump when he “helped elect him.” The hosts took up the issue of Trump’s “executive time” after yet another leak of the president’s private schedules. This morning Trump defended himself on Twitter: The Five showed Scarborough’s reaction to the tweet, expressing bewilderment at just how much time the President of the United States spends watching TV and tweeting, “staring at TV sets like an old man that is in a retirement home instead of a President of the United States.” Gutfeld added, “And you helped elect him.” Scarborough has been very critical of Trump during his presidency (and Trump has bashed him and Morning Joe co-host Mika Continue reading "Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld Mocks Scarborough for Trump Criticism: ‘You Helped Elect Him’"

Morning Joe Goes Off on ‘Laziest President’ Ever: Trump’s ‘Like an Old Man in a Retirement Home’

Morning Joe laughed at Donald Trump‘s expense on Monday as the president claims to be the hardest-working leader America has ever seen. Over the weekend, Axios published a new set of Trump’s White House schedules, the contents of which support previous indications that the president gets to spend large portions of his day in unstructured “executive time.” As Morning Joe addressed the news and the White House’s attempts to defend itself, the panel started smirking while Mika Brzezinski called it “playtime” for Trump. Here’s what Joe Scarborough had to say:
“What an absolute joke. We’ve seen one person after another saying he often just hunkers down upstairs in the personal quarters, he spends of majority of his time watching table news, tweeting, yelling, staring at TV sets like an old man in a retirement home instead of a President of the United States who is supposed to be Continue reading "Morning Joe Goes Off on ‘Laziest President’ Ever: Trump’s ‘Like an Old Man in a Retirement Home’"

Watch Morning Joe Laugh At Trump’s Claim That Republicans Never Unfairly Investigated Obama

President Donald Trump‘s early morning tweets about his predecessor, former President Barack Obama, sent MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough in a fit of laughter Thursday morning. The President complained about the “Unlimited Presidential Harassment” Democratic Congressman Adam Schiff and his colleagues were giving him, adding Obama never had to go through what he is going through. “Never happened before!” he tweeted at around 6:30 a.m. Thursday. “… The Dems and their committees are going ‘nuts.’ The Republicans never did this to President Obama, there would be no time left to run government.”

Scarborough: Republicans ‘Forfeit The Right’ to Lecture Democrats on Racism by Supporting Trump

Joe Scarborough says Republicans have no room to talk down to Democrats over Ralph Northam, not after all racist controversies they’ve tolerated from President Trump. On Monday, Morning Joe discussed whether the Virginia governor will resign over his botched attempts to handle the firestorm from his resurfaced KKK/blackface photo. As Scarborough noted the open questions of Northam’s judgment, he brought up a column Tom Nichols wrote for Washington Post that marvels at conservatives calling out Northam after giving Trump “a free pass.” The MSNBC host called it a prime example of “hypocrisy” among Trump supporters.
“Their hypocrisy on the issue of race after we go from the Muslim ban to the Hispanic doctor, to the Gold Star mother to Charlottesville, through all of the things Donald Trump has done. Seriously? These Trump Republicans seriously are going to lecture anybody on being insensitive on the issue of race?”

Scarborough: Congressional GOP ‘Have to Be Furious’ With Trump’s Shifting Wall Position

Morning Joe co-host Joe Scarborough may no longer call himself a member of the Republican party, but he can claim to be a former Republican Congressman. So while his typical anti-Trump harangues aren’t terribly newsworthy, his insights into the Capitol Hill sausage factory drama such as the ongoing border security/border wall negotiations come with experience that no other cable news anchors can offer. While only two weeks are left in the three weeks for Congress and the White House to agree on a border security bill to avoid another government shutdown, President Donald Trump has begun to signal a different position. On Twitter, during a White House press spray and during an Oval Office interview with NY Times reporters, the commander in chief has suggested that he has low expectations for a congressional compromise to deliver the wall funding he has insisted he needs, and instead appears to be moving towards Continue reading "Scarborough: Congressional GOP ‘Have to Be Furious’ With Trump’s Shifting Wall Position"

Morning Joe discussed President Donald Trump‘s conversation tactics with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday, and a Republican panelist suggested Trump doesn’t trust his own staff. “Why is it that the translator’s never from the American side,” asked host Joe Scarborough, regarding the president’s meetings with Putin. “Why is it that if there’s to be one translator, always a translator for Vladimir Putin but never a translator for the American side?” Republican strategist Susan Del Percio responded she didn’t think Trump trusted his personnel to accurately and honestly translate his words from English to Russian. “President Trump does not trust the Intel community, he does not trust his own staff,” said Del Percio. “I mean, this goes back to Jared Kushner wanting to back channel with the Russians right after the election. This is something he’s always wanted to have, as an open line of communication.” Continue reading "GOP Strategist Explains Trump’s ‘Disturbing’ Private Meetings With Putin: He ‘Does Not Trust His Own Staff’"

WaPo Reporter Dishes on Why Joe and Mika Aren’t Hosting Morning Joe ‘Together’

Washington Post reporter Paul Fahri might have just solved the mystery of why it seems Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski have rarely co-hosted from the set of Morning Joe recently. Regular viewers of the show might have noticed that it has been a while since Scarborough and Brzezinski conducted the show from their New York City studio, nor have they even been on camera together. As Fahri points out, the show has been using clever broadcasting tactics to distract viewers from where the hosts are, if not at 30 Rock.

Morning Joe Rips Mike Pence Over ‘Bush League,’ Poorly-Timed Declaration ISIS is ‘Defeated’

On Thursday, Morning Joe dragged Vice President Mike Pence for proclaiming the defeat of ISIS just after American servicemen died from an attack the terror group has taken credit for. Four Americans died yesterday in the U.S.-patrolled city of Manbij, Syria when an attacker blew up his suicide vest. Even though Pence eventually offered sympathies over those who died from the attack, his first course of action after it happened was to give a speech that lavished praise on President Trump‘s leadership while saying “The caliphate has crumbled and ISIS has been defeated!” Joe Scarborough ripped Pence for his “bush league” remarks while noting that several Republicans have already expressed concern that Trump emboldened ISIS by announcing the imminent withdrawal of troops from Syria. Mike Barnicle agreed as he denounced Trump’s “foreign policy by impulse.” “It has not been defeated,” Barnicle said. “It’s thriving to Continue reading "Morning Joe Rips Mike Pence Over ‘Bush League,’ Poorly-Timed Declaration ISIS is ‘Defeated’"

Joe Scarborough: Rudy Giuliani Just Told America That Trump’s Campaign Colluded With Russia

Morning Show host Joe Scarborough believes that the Russian Collusion jig is up. Based on the jaw-dropping interview Rudy Giuliani gave to CNN’s Chris Cuomo Wednesday night, in which the personal attorney to President Donald Trump proclaimed, among other things, that “he never said there was no collusion between the campaign and Russia.” Narrator: He had. Giuliani’s comment runs counter to both his and President Trump’s previous statements, raising the nation’s eyebrows about the very noteworthy position shift. Or as Scarborough claimed, “Rudy Giuliani just told America and the world that Donald Trump’s campaign colluded with Russia full stop.” Watch the clip above via MSNBC.

Joe Scarborough: Investigation of Jeff Bezos Was ‘Directed Hit Job’ by Pro-Trump National Enquirer

Joe Scarborough thinks National Enquirer committed a pro-Trump “hit job” against Jeff Bezos in light of how the tabloid is taking credit for the Amazon CEO’s divorce. Mediaite previously reported on how the Enquirer published several explicit text messages from Bezos’ extramarital affair as he prepares to finalize his divorce with his wife of 25 years. Last night, the Enquirer drew attention over a statement they released saying they followed Bezos for months to document his liaison. As Morning Joe talked about the news that Michael Cohen will publicly testify before Congress, Scarborough noted that Cohen and the Enquirer were both pivotal to President Donald Trump‘s illegal hush money schemes from 2016. Since Enquirer publisher David Pecker has already admitted to Robert Mueller that the tabloid allowed itself to be used as Trump’s attack vehicle, Scarborough wondered if their coverage of Bezos was an extension of that, given Continue reading "Joe Scarborough: Investigation of Jeff Bezos Was ‘Directed Hit Job’ by Pro-Trump National Enquirer"

Joe Scarborough: Lindsey Graham and Mitch McConnell are Co-Conspirators in Trump ‘Horror Show’

In the plainest of terms, Joe Scarborough believes that the Trump administration is a “horror show” and believes that establishment Republicans in Congress like Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham, and Kevin McCarthy are “co-conspirators.” In a Friday morning harangue that shifted his typical animus focused on President Donald Trump, Scarborough opened Morning Joe by going off on GOP congress who, in his esteem, are “complicit by their action or, more importantly, by their silence.” “The party of Lincoln and the party of Reagan, they’re suffering through a massive moral collapse,” he said, adding “It is sad and it is dangerous for this country and I believe it is the beginning of the end of my old party.” Senator Graham caught the largest serving of Scarborough bile due to his complete transformation from a presidential candidate who warned the nation about Trump to one of his leading apologists/toadies. The context of Continue reading "Joe Scarborough: Lindsey Graham and Mitch McConnell are Co-Conspirators in Trump ‘Horror Show’"

Scarborough Calls for 25th Amendment: Trump’s Presser Show’s He’s ‘Obviously’ Not Fit for Office

The way Joe Scarborough sees it, President Donald Trump‘s rambling 90-minute press conference is all the proof the country should need to invoke the 25th Amendment. The conversation started for Morning Joe on Thursday with a discussion on Mitt Romney‘s criticisms of Trump and what the GOP really thinks about the president’s character. Scarborough eventually connected this to Trump’s press conference by saying that “if we had a cabinet that was filled with people with more character,” or if “we had a House and a Senate that took their job seriously,” they would’ve already taken action to remove Trump from office. “There would be people going up to the White House this morning saying, ‘Mr. President, questions abound whether you were fit for this office,” Scarborough said. “If this continues, we are going to ask your Cabinet to take a vote on whether you were fit for Continue reading "Scarborough Calls for 25th Amendment: Trump’s Presser Show’s He’s ‘Obviously’ Not Fit for Office"

MSNBC’s Kasie Hunt Quotes Yoda in Morning Joe Segment About Anger (and Twitter)

Who knew that NBC News Capitol Hill correspondent Kasie Hunt could quote Star Wars at the drop of a hat? But she apparently can, and did in a pre-recorded segment for Morning Joe to kick off the new year. Hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski were introducing a segment on anger in America, and it was Scarborough who first referenced Yoda. After two clips, one of former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley in her famous denunciation of anger politics, and one of then-candidate Donald Trump extolling the virtues of anger, Brzezinksi said that “anger has always been part of American politics.” Joe asked if that was what Yoda said to Luke, and Kasie Hunt was on it in less than 12 parsecs. “Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate,” she said, to the amused but impressed reactions of her colleagues. And even though the quote (“Fear is the Continue reading "MSNBC’s Kasie Hunt Quotes Yoda in Morning Joe Segment About Anger (and Twitter)"

On Wednesday, Morning Joe co-host Joe Scarborough responded to the recent death of 8-year-old Felipe Alonzo-Gomez, who migrated from Guatemala and died after being taken to taken to the hospital two times by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. “You know, as we approach 2019, those of us who remain eternally optimistic about this great republic of ours have reason to be concerned. Little children continue to die in the custody of the U.S. Government,”  Scarborough said. “And remember, friends, that’s our government. That’s your government and my government that’s allowing little children to die while they’re being incarcerated because of a policy that’s supposed to discourage people from coming,” he continued. “And thousands of children still remain incarcerated and still this holiday season, this Christmas season, they’re still operated from their parents.” On the day after Christmas, Scarborough then asked what Jesus would do during this situation:
“What would Jesus do? Well, that’s where Jesus would that would be. If you read the new testament, if you Continue reading "Joe Scarborough Invokes Jesus, Says the US Government Allows Immigrant Child to Die"

Scarborough Blasts Trump’s Troop Visit in Scathing Monologue: He ‘Used a Captive Audience’ to Push ‘Unpopular Agenda’

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough started his Thursday with a monologue that tore into Donald Trump for politicizing his trip to see U.S. troops stationed abroad. While political observers are happy to see the president finally go visit military operatives working in combat zones, critics are not happy with how Trump used troops to score political points and take overt shots against his enemies. Scarborough joined the chorus of critics by saying “the troops were clearly glad to see him, I think every American should be grateful for that, but we should be concerned that Trump once again used a captive audience of American heros to push his unpopular domestic agenda.” Scoroborough went on by slamming Trump for repeating a “lie” about the military’s pay raise in front of troops who will immediately realize “it’s not even close to being true.” He also lambasted the president for saying Americans Continue reading "Scarborough Blasts Trump’s Troop Visit in Scathing Monologue: He ‘Used a Captive Audience’ to Push ‘Unpopular Agenda’"

Joe Scarborough’s Scathing Rebuke: ‘Donald Trump is On Track to Be the Worst President of All Time’

Joe Scarborough opened the Boxing Day episode of Morning Joe with one of his signature long-form monologues that assessed the current chaos surrounding the presidency of Donald Trump. The ten-minute essay systematically and dispassionately outlined what Scarborough sees as recent administrative, economic, legal and foreign policy issues that have embroiled the White House in the last two weeks of a troubled 2018. A self-satisfied Scarborough claimed to “take no pleasure” in outlining the embattled White House but asked viewers to adjudge Trump’s accomplishments by his own campaign rhetoric. “I don’t judge the president by my standards, You don’t have to judge him by your standards,” adding “This morning, just judge him by his own standards.” Scarborough eventually reminded viewers of how he left the Republican Party “less over Donald Trump than I did over the fact that almost every elected official in the GOP has bowed and scraped to Continue reading "Joe Scarborough’s Scathing Rebuke: ‘Donald Trump is On Track to Be the Worst President of All Time’"

Morning Joe assessed the state of the Trump administration on Christmas Eve and came to a dire outlook for the New Year, with Joe Scarborough declaring the president “rogue.” Scarborough said he was “grateful” for American institutions holding strong in the Trump era, before asking Washington Post columnist Gene Robinson: “What do we do, Gene, when it does appear that this Administration is terminal?” “This Administration will not survive,” Scarborough continued. “What do our leaders in Washington do? What do editorial page editors do, what do people in news programs, presidents of networks do? What does everybody do working together to make sure that this Administration that is terminal does not behave in a way that creates not only a governing crisis but a pandemic, not only across this country, but across the world?” “Those institutions are really going to have their work cut out for Continue reading "Scarborough Warns of ‘Rogue’ President: ‘This Administration is Terminal’ and ‘Will Not Survive’"

Joe Scarborough: Syria/Mattis Issue Has Trump Apologists ‘Crossing the Rubicon’ and Saying ‘Enough’

Joe Scarborough described what seems to be a significant shift in support enjoyed by President Donald Trump as a result of his sudden withdrawal of 2,000 U.S. troops from Syria, unfounded claims that “ISIS is defeated,” and the resulting resignation by Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis. The Morning Show host did not demur on a Monday morning harangue that even cited Fox News’ Brit Hume, who tweeted over the weekend the following: Scarborough added, “it does seem that for many Trump supporters, and I will say also some Trump apologists, this was Trump crossing Continue reading "Joe Scarborough: Syria/Mattis Issue Has Trump Apologists ‘Crossing the Rubicon’ and Saying ‘Enough’"
