John Kelly Reportedly Has Quit Trying to Control Trump, Even if it Results in POTUS Being Impeached

John Kelly is completely over it. That’s according to a new report out Monday night. In a shocking anecdote from a story published by Politico, the White House chief of ftaff has quit trying to influence President Donald Trump and is allowing the president to indulge his every whim — even if that should result in his getting impeached. From the report:
Kelly’s status in the White House has changed in recent months, and he and the president are now seen as barely tolerating one another. According to four people close to Kelly, the former Marine general has largely yielded his role as the enforcer in the West Wing as his relationship with Trump has soured. While Kelly himself once believed he stood between Trump and chaos, he has told at least one person close to him that he may as well let the president do what he wants, Continue reading "John Kelly Reportedly Has Quit Trying to Control Trump, Even if it Results in POTUS Being Impeached"

Former CIA Head Compares Trump’s Border Separation Policy to Nazi Germany

Former CIA Director Michael Hayden issued a scathing rebuke of President Donald Trump‘s policy of separating migrant children from their families at the southern border on Saturday. Hayden, a CNN contributor who served as CIA director under Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, posted a photo of the infamous Auschwitz concentration camp on Twitter along with the caption, “Other governments have separated mothers and children.” The Trump administration’s policy of separating migrant children from their families was first weighed when John Kelly served as the homeland security secretary in March 2017, and proposed the move in order to deter migrants from attempting to illegally cross the border. The idea has been floated in previous administrations too, but according to the New York Times, “for George W. Bush Continue reading "Former CIA Head Compares Trump’s Border Separation Policy to Nazi Germany"

Trump Reportedly Went Off Over Firing of WH Aide Who Made Nasty Comment About McCain

Of all the people the White House could fire, press aide Kelly Sadler was an obvious choice. But President Donald Trump was not happy about the decision to let her go, according to new reporting in The Wall Street Journal. Sadler caused a furor on both sides of the political aisle when she said in a private White House meeting that Senator John McCain‘s vote on Gina Haspel didn’t matter because “he’s dying anyway.” After Sadler’s comment was made public, Meghan McCain powerfully condemned her on The View, and many came to the McCains’ support on social media. Sadler was left on staff for a month after making the comment; she was quietly dismissed from her position earlier this month. According to officials speaking to WSJ, Trump expressed his displeasure with this choice during an Oval Office meeting and criticized White House communications adviser Mercedes Schlapp Continue reading "Trump Reportedly Went Off Over Firing of WH Aide Who Made Nasty Comment About McCain"

John Kelly Reportedly Told Senators He Feels ‘Horrible’: White House a ‘Miserable Place to Work’

Chief of Staff John Kelly has survived. He joined the Trump administration last summer and cleaned house, purging the White House of staffers that served no purpose aside from fueling infighting (farewell Omarosa, Seb Gorka). Despite initial reports that Kelly would implement a military-style discipline on the White House, before it became apparent he was being neutered by Trump — with a number of reports predicting he would not last long in the job. Now, Kelly is speaking out about how much his job in the West Wing sucks. According to the New York Times, Kelly told a group of visiting senators last week that the White House is a “miserable place to work.” Times reporter Maggie Haberman added in a tweet that Kelly also said when asked by the senators how he was doing, he replied “horrible.” The Times reports that while Trump feels energized ahead Continue reading "John Kelly Reportedly Told Senators He Feels ‘Horrible’: White House a ‘Miserable Place to Work’"

John Kelly Reportedly Confirmed His Personal Email Account Was Hacked

When White House chief of staff John Kelly was the head of the Department of Homeland Security, he sent an email to an unnamed official warning them not to use email because of leaks and the Freedom of Information Act. That June 8, 2017 email, which ironically found its way to Buzzfeed after an FOIA lawsuit, read: “As we discussed in NYC about the toxic atmosphere here in the D.C. cesspool, my folks are nervous about e-mails you send and ask that you no longer include them on any postings…FOIA is real and everyday here in the cesspool, and even federal court action on personal accounts is real.” In the same email, he also admitted in the email that one of his  “own personal accounts” had suffered an email attack, which is why he prefers “phone or face-to-face comms.” Kelly’s personal email hack has long been rumored ever since Continue reading "John Kelly Reportedly Confirmed His Personal Email Account Was Hacked"

Symone Sanders Invokes Slavery While Discussing Trump Illegal Immigration Policy That Separates Families

CNN commentator Symone Sanders compared a recently-implemented Trump administration policy to the worst chapter in America’s history. White House Chief of Staff John Kelly dismissed the notion that the immigration policy that separates the children from migrants who illegally cross the border as “cruel” or “heartless.” To NPR, he said the following:
“I wouldn’t put it quite that way. The children will be taken care of- put into foster care or whatever… But the big point is they elected to come illegally into the United States and this is a technique that no one hopes will be used extensively for very long.”
Sanders didn’t believe such a policy would be a “deterrent” for illegal immigration and dinged the Trump administration for the lack of “training” that was being done, calling the policy “cruel and unusual.” “This is a policy that harkens back to what America did during the Continue reading "Symone Sanders Invokes Slavery While Discussing Trump Illegal Immigration Policy That Separates Families"

Chris Hayes Slams Trump Administration For Separating Immigrant Families: ‘Despicable’

In what MSNBC’s Chris Hayes reported Friday was “what appears to be the first time ever,” parents and children are being separated at the border “systematically” as what White House Chief of Staff John Kelly called a “tough deterrent” to families who enter the United States. Children as young as 18 months are being “ripped out of the arms of their mother,” Hayes reported, adding it was for a very specific reason: “to punish the immigrants,” many of whom he said were “often seeking asylum” Hayes went on to report that Kelly noted the children who were separated would be “taken care of – put into foster care or whatever.” “If Kelly’s words, ‘or whatever,’ about the fate of an 18 month old don’t exactly fill you with confidence that the federal government has the wherewithal, the capacity or the intention to take care of these children, their track Continue reading "Chris Hayes Slams Trump Administration For Separating Immigrant Families: ‘Despicable’"
