Campaign reporters from NBC, CNN, CBS were heavily criticized on Saturday after they posted tweets about presidential candidate and Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) trying on and buying an “amazing rainbow coat.” Judging from the tweets, it appeared the reporters had actively participated in Harris’ shopping, raising questions on if they could fairly cover the candidate. “We kind of forced @kamalaharris to try on this awesome oversized rainbow sequin jacket … She snapped it up. @alivitali perfectly named it as “the Mardi Gras Jacket,” CNN reporter Maeve Reston tweeted.
“When the campaign trail takes you to a boutique, and @MaeveReston spots a great sequined jacket for @KamalaHarris to try on,” Continue reading "Campaign Reporters Criticized for ‘Going Shopping’ with Kamala Harris to Put ‘Out Glowing Tweets’"

“They’ve been calling it ‘Reefergate,’ syndicated radio host Charlamagne Tha God told Ari Melber on MSNBC Thursday night. The host was referencing the fallout from an interview he and his Breakfast Show colleagues conducted with Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA). A number of outlets, notably Fox News, have devoted time to the question of whether the senator was lying about when she smoked marijuana. Harris told the Breakfast Club that she smoked pot during her college days. Later, she was asked by one co-host about her favorite music, and by another about her favorite music to listen to while smoking. Harris replied that she enjoyed Snoop Dogg and Tupac Shakur — both of whom debuted after Harris was in college. But the senator appeared to be responding to the question of her favorite music overall, not her favorite music to smoke by. That was the contention of Breakfast Club co-host DJ Continue reading "Breakfast Club Radio Hosts Bury Fox News Over Kamala Harris ‘Reefergate’: They’re ‘Absolutely, Positively Lying’"

California Senator and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris is crushing her competition online, according to new reporting from Axios. Harris officially kicked off her bid for the Democratic nomination a few weeks ago, drawing a huge crowd to a rally in Oakland. And according to research published by Axios Thursday, she’s drawing even larger throngs online. In the past three months, articles about Harris have clocked 16.5 million interactions from influential Twitter and Facebook accounts, over 2 million more than her next competitor, Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren. Harris’ dominance extends to Google, Instagram, and Twitter. Per Axios:
On Google, Harris was searched twice as often as Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders, who were next closest, Continue reading "Kamala Harris Reportedly Winning the Social Media Primary By a Lot"

Should Democratic Presidential Candidates Allow Themselves to Be Interviewed on Fox News?

Minnesota Senator and Democratic presidential candidate Amy Klobuchar appeared to urge her fellow candidates to venture into the “uncomfortable” space that is Fox News, but is that a good move for Democrats looking to secure votes from a base that’s not particularly fond of the network? On Tuesday night, Klobuchar concluded her interview with Bret Baier by volunteering that “One of the reasons I came on this show is that I believe candidates for office, whether Democrat or Republican, have to go not just where it’s comfortable, but where it’s uncomfortable. And I love you. Fox may not always be comfortable for Democrats but I want to make that point.” That’s a bold suggestion to make in an election season with an ever-growing Democratic field of candidates who will be competing for votes from a base that had no love for Fox News, to begin with, and increasingly views Continue reading "Should Democratic Presidential Candidates Allow Themselves to Be Interviewed on Fox News?"

Did Kamala Harris Lie About Listening to Snoop Dogg and Tupac While Smoking Weed?

A fresh scandal has emerged among the Democrats running for president: Sen. Kamala Harris of California, so the scandal goes, lied about what music she listened to when she smoked weed in college. Before you dismiss this as a silly issue, I can assure you it’s consequential. The scandal — first covered by the likes of Breitbart and Gateway Pundit — has bubbled up into mainstream media, garnering coverage on FoxNews.com, the Daily Mail, Page Six, and countless blogs on the left and right. It was discussed on The View on Tuesday and was the topic of two Fox & Friends segments on Wednesday. Harris’s comments were made in an interview on The Breakfast Club, the New York-based syndicated morning radio show of choice to hear rappers get ruthlessly trolled by Charlamagne Tha God. She appeared to say she listened to Snoop Dogg and Tupac when she smoked Continue reading "Did Kamala Harris Lie About Listening to Snoop Dogg and Tupac While Smoking Weed?"

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) said, on Monday, that she has tried marijuana. Appearing on The Breakfast Club syndicated radio show, the California senator was asked by host Charlamagne Tha God to clarify her stance on legalizing the drug. “They say you oppose legalizing weed,” Charlamagne said. “That’s not true,” Harris said. “And look, I joke about it, half-joke about it. Half my family’s from Jamaica. Are you kidding me?” Charlamagne then asked Harris if she’s tried it. “I have. And I inhaled,” she said — an apparent reference to former President Bill Clinton‘s famous admission in 1992. Harris went on to say that she smoked a joint “a long time ago.” “I think that it gives a lot of people joy,” the senator said. “And we need more joy. As Virginia Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax (D) is reeling from an allegation of sexual misconduct, 2020 presidential candidate and Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) said Thursday that she believes his accuser is credible and there should be an investigation. “I think there should be an investigation to determine what happened,”she told reporters. “Certainly her letter reads — it’s quite detailed — and suggests that there’s credibility there. But there needs to be an investigation to determine what exactly happened.” She did not go as far as calling for Fairfax to step down, saying “the most important thing that needs to happen is that the people of Virginia need to make that decision. That’s where I am on it.” In a letter, Dr. Vanessa Tyson, a college professor, told her side of the story on what happened on the 2004 incident in question.

Kamala Harris‘s spokeswoman fired back at Donald Trump Jr. on Saturday after the president’s son mocked the senator’s previous support for Virginia Governor Ralph Northam. Harris, who recently announced her 2020 presidential run, called on Northam to resign Friday after a racist photo was unearthed from his 1984 yearbook. After she called on the fellow Democrat to resign, Don Jr. unearthed his own photo: a screenshot of an awkward tweet from Harris praising Northam back in 2017 for standing up to bigotry (Don Jr.’s screenshot cropped out the date): Lily Adams, the communications director for Harris, responded to Don Jr. in a tweet noting that his father, President Donald Trump, said that there were “very fine people” on both sides of the deadly 2017 white Continue reading "Kamala Harris Spox Fires Back at Don Jr. for Northam Jab: ‘Your Dad Said Nazis Were Very Fine People’"

Former Starbuck CEO Howard Schultz is walking back his criticisms of Democrats somewhat by axing a column from his Twitter account that contained insulting language towards his possible rivals for the 2020 race. Ever since he kicked off his media tour to promote his potential third-party presidential run, Schultz has been documenting the public reactions by posting columns and articles about his chances on his Twitter timeline. One of them was a PJ Media piece called “Howard Schultz Could Actually Win the Presidency,” and as the headline suggests, it says Schultz could be much more than a spoiler for Democrats in the 2020 race. The article advances Schultz’s argument that he could win the presidency if he makes a successful appeal to those who don’t care for President Trump or for the hard-left candidates crowding the 2020 field. However, it also contains some disparaging comments about Senators Kamala Continue reading "Howard Schultz Deletes Tweet Praising Column That Called Kamala Harris ‘Shrill,’ Elizabeth Warren ‘Fauxcahontas’"

Kamala Harris’ Gun Control Argument: Make Congress Look at Sandy Hook Autopsy Photos

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) and now 2020 presidential candidate made her case for stricter gun laws during her CNN townhall on Monday. Saying there’s no reason why a “civil society” has things like “assault weapons” and no universal background checks, it has directly affected members of Congress, such as former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ). “She was acting in her official capacity, not on vacation you would think even out of self-interest [Congress] would have acted. They failed to act,” Harris said. “Twenty 6 and 7-year-old babies were massacred in Connecticut. They failed to act.” “Here’s what I think. I think that somebody should have required — and this is going to sound very harsh — I think somebody should have required all those members of Congress to go in a room, in a locked room, no press, nobody else, and look at the autopsy photographs of those babies. Former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz is out promoting a new book and talking about a presumptive run for President as an Independent candidate. During a Tuesday morning appearance on CBS Morning, Schultz was asked about a potential political foe Kamala Harris and did not demur in his reply. Host Norah O’Donnell challenged previous comments that Schultz made on 60 Minutes in which Schultz ostensibly compared Democrat’s proposal for universal health care to a border wall. Schultz recalled a clip previously aired of Senator Harris supporting Medicare for all by saying “she wants to abolish the insurance industry.” “That’s not correct. That’s not American,” Schultz claimed, adding “What’s next? What industry are we going to abolish next? The coffee industry?” He then pivoted to a follow-up criticism of the GOP, adding “the Republicans want to get rid of the affordable care act. I don’t agree with that. The affordable care Continue reading "Howard Schultz Rips Kamala Harris for Backing Medicare for All: ‘That’s Not American’"

On Monday, CNN hosted the first town hall of the 2020 race with Sen. Kamala Harris at Drake University. CNN’s Jake Tapper moderated the event and at one point asked Harris about her record as attorney general. “When you were [California’s] attorney general, you opposed legislation that would have required your office to investigate fatal shootings involving police officers. Why did you oppose that bill?” Tapper pressed. Harris responded by defending her record. “So I did not oppose the bill,” she replied.  “I had a process when I was attorney general of not weighing in on bills and initiatives because as attorney general, I had a responsibility for writing the title and summary. So I did not weigh in. But behind the scenes, I’m going to tell you I compare my record to any prosecutor, any elected prosecutor in this country, in terms of the work that I have Continue reading "Kamala Harris Defends Her Record as a Prosecutor in CNN Town Hall"

On Monday, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders held her first briefing in 41 days, but two of the three major cable news networks did not carry the session live. The briefing, initially scheduled at 3 p.m. ET, began shortly after 3:30 with Sanders introducing a trio of opening acts. After remarks and question-and-answer periods from National Security Advisor John Bolton,  Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin, and senior economic adviser Larry Kudlow, Sanders took to the podium to answer questions for the first time since Dec. 18. Fox News and Fox Business Channel carried the briefing, including the warm-up acts, live. But both CNN and MSNBC went with other programming, even after Sanders took the stage. MSNBC stuck with Nicolle Wallace‘s Deadline: White House, which featured panel discussions on the latest developments in the Mueller investigation. On CNN, The Lead with Jake Tapper stuck Continue reading "CNN and MSNBC Snub Sarah Sanders’ First Briefing of 2019"

Bernie: ‘My Opponents’ Want Black, White, Gay, Latino or Women Candidates ‘Regardless of What They Stand For’

Independent Vermont Senator and potential 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders is claiming that many of his Democratic opponents want racially and sexually diverse candidates “regardless of what they stand for.” In a lengthy profile for GQ Magazine, Sanders once again railed against what he calls “identity politics,” telling the magazine that he believes his opponents care only about fielding candidates based on race, gender, or sexuality:
In a Democratic Party that is increasingly deriving its energy—not to mention its votes—from minorities and women, Sanders remains a critic of identity politics and a firm believer that issues of race, while important, are not as salient and determinative as those of class. “There are people who are very big into diversity but whose views end up being not particularly sympathetic to working people, whether they’re white or black or Latino,” he said. “My main belief is that we need to Continue reading "Bernie: ‘My Opponents’ Want Black, White, Gay, Latino or Women Candidates ‘Regardless of What They Stand For’"

Watch Kamala Harris Nodding Her Head Yes While Saying She ‘Might’ Run for President

Despite the word “might” in her response to Late Show host Stephen Colbert on Thursday, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA_ made it more than clear that she does indeed intend to run for President in 2020. In the shared ‘wink-wink’ moment, Colbert asked his guest after the break about why she would write a book before a big election, and could it hint at anything. “Senator, let me ask you this — many people who put out books two years before a presidential election do so to introduce themselves in a broad way to the American people,” he said. “Um — are you going to run for president?” It was the context of the reply that made the sale. Laughing with a sort of ‘you know the answer’ face, Harris nodded several times and finally replied, “I might!” “You might,” said Colbert as Harris’ continued to laugh. “Alright, there Continue reading "Watch Kamala Harris Nodding Her Head Yes While Saying She ‘Might’ Run for President"

Newt Gingrich Predicts Kamala Harris Will Face Off Against Trump in 2020

On Friday night, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich weighed in on potential 2020 candidates. Gingrich began by reacting to speculation that Hillary Clinton isn’t ruling a third run for the presidency, saying it’s a “nightmare” for red state Democrats running for reelection in the upcoming midterms. He acknowledged how his party has occasionally gone through cycles where they’ve been “terminally insane,” but said Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and her DNA test trying to prove her Native American ancestry is “beyond imagining” and said the timing of it was “terrible.” Laura Ingraham then asked “what the heck happened” to the Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) who used to be moderate and work with Republicans. “I thought he was pretty interesting,” Ingraham told the panel. “He was more of a Bill Clinton Democrat and then… he’s different now.” When asked if he thought Booker can united the Democratic Party, Gingrich dismissed Continue reading "Newt Gingrich Predicts Kamala Harris Will Face Off Against Trump in 2020"

Kamala Harris Confronts Kavanaugh on Whether He Would Support FBI Investigation: I’ll ‘Take That as a No’

Faced with a simple yes-no question during his testimony before the Senate on sexual assault allegations leveled against him by his former high school peer, Judge Brett Kavanaugh dodged an answer. Shortly before the conclusion a long day for the Judiciary Committee, which heard from both the SCOTUS nominee and accuser Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) asked Kavanaugh whether he’d request an FBI investigation into the claims to get to the bottom of the issue. “You’ve been asked during the course of this hearing by four different members by my count at least eight times today and also earlier this week on national television whether you would call for the White House to authorize an FBI investigation,” Harris said, adding that Kavanaugh had rejected the idea each time. The senator then vouched for the integrity of the agency, noting it is staffed by “men and Continue reading "Kamala Harris Confronts Kavanaugh on Whether He Would Support FBI Investigation: I’ll ‘Take That as a No’"

Politifact Calls Out Kamala Harris For Deceptively Editing Clip of Brett Kavanaugh Talking Abortion

Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) got called out today after she apparently tried to mislead people on what Brett Kavanaugh said in his confirmation hearings last week. Since Kavanaugh’s appointment to the Supreme Court might have considerable implications for Roe V. Wade, there’s been a great deal of chatter over the question of whether he believes abortion rights are settled law. As you can see above, Harris, on Friday, tweeted a clip of Kavanaugh in which he seemed to suggest that birth control is an “abortion-inducing” apparatus. Kavanaugh Hearing Instantly Melts Down: ‘This is a Charade and a Mockery’

It only took a few seconds before Brett Kavanuagh‘s confirmation hearing for the Supreme Court plunged into total chaos on Tuesday, with lawmakers sparring as loud protestors were booted from the room. As Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) called the hearing to order, he was cut off by Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) who demanded that the hearing be delayed. Harris made this call while citing the Trump Administration’s decision to withhold thousands of documents from Kavanaugh’s time with the George W. Bush administration. Grassley scolded Harris by telling her she was out of order, but she was followed by similar objections from Senators Amy Klobuchar and Richard Blumenthal. The latter said that without a chance to properly review the Kavanaugh document dump, today’s hearing are “a charade and a mockery of our norms” and ought to be adjourned. The proceedings deteriorated even further when protesters repeatedly interrupted Continue reading "Kavanaugh Hearing Instantly Melts Down: ‘This is a Charade and a Mockery’"
