Trump Trashes NFL Players For Anthem Protests: Most Are ‘Unable to Define’ What They Are Protesting

President Donald Trump weighed in on NFL protests as a number of players knelt, raised their fists or stayed in the dressing room during the national anthem as the league’s pre-season gets underway. “The NFL players are at it again,” Trump tweeted, “taking a knee when they should be standing proudly for the National Anthem.” “Numerous players, from different teams, wanted to show their ‘outrage’ at something that most of them are unable to define,” he continued. “They make a fortune doing what they love……” The president finished his thought a Continue reading "Trump Trashes NFL Players For Anthem Protests: Most Are ‘Unable to Define’ What They Are Protesting"

Eagles’ Malcolm Jenkins Holds Up Signs in Stunning Press Conference: ‘YOU AREN’T LISTENING’

Philadelphia Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins had a message for President Donald Trump and others just one day after Trump’s decision to disinvite them from a White House celebration on June 5 to mark their Super Bowl win. And he never uttered a single word. In a stunningly silent press conference, Jenkins held up a sign reading “More than 60% of people in prison are people of color” during a locker room meeting with the press. Then, as reporters asked him questions, to which he did not respond, he held up a second sign saying, “Nearly 200,000 juveniles enter the adult criminal system each year, most for non-violent crimes.” With mics pushed in and questions continuing one reporter asked if Jenkins was “just gonna use these posters.” Jenkins did not respond, instead holding up a sign reading, “you aren’t listening.” Jenkins was not done yet. As reporters continued Continue reading "Eagles’ Malcolm Jenkins Holds Up Signs in Stunning Press Conference: ‘YOU AREN’T LISTENING’"

Eagles’ Malcolm Jenkins: Going to White House for Photo Op ‘Not Worth My Time’

Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins told CNN’s Van Jones he’s not exactly too eager to go to the White House. “I think everybody has their own opinion when it comes to this presidency,” he said. “I’m not very excited about getting my picture taken with him. You know, it’s just not worth my time. I’d rather spend my time working with whoever on these issues that we’ve been fighting for.” Jones brought up his criminal justice reform advocacy and directly asked him if he would meet with President Trump if invited to talk about this issue. Jenkins said if that were the case, he’d consider it. You can watch the clip above, via CNN. [image via screengrab] — — Follow Josh Feldman on Twitter: @feldmaniac

Philadelphia Eagles’ Malcolm Jenkins: I ‘Do Not Anticipate Attending’ White House Celebration

A prominent member of the newly crowned Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles says he plans to skip a potential White House ceremony honoring the team. Appearing on New Day mere hours after his team’s stunning victory over the New England Patriots, star Eagles defensive back Malcolm Jenkins told anchor John Berman that he’s a likely White House no-show. “I personally do not anticipate attending that,” Jenkins said. In addition to being one of the better players on an elite Eagles defense (albeit one which played a subpar game on Sunday night), Jenkins has gained notoriety as a leader among NFL players in the push for social justice reform. After engaging in demonstrations during the National Anthem for much of the NFL season, Jenkins ceased his protests late in the year after the league announced donations of nearly $100 million to support social justice causes. Berman asked Jenkins what message he’d Continue reading "Philadelphia Eagles’ Malcolm Jenkins: I ‘Do Not Anticipate Attending’ White House Celebration"
