The White House this morning released the annual Christmas message from President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.
“Melania and I are truly thrilled to wish every American a very merry Christmas,” the President said. “This wonderful season brings out the best in the American spirit. And we see neighbors helping neighbors and communities lifting up those who need a helping hand.”
The First Lady added, “This Christmas, we salute the brave men and women who serve our nation overseas. We send our love to the military families whose sacrifice helps keep our nation free. We give thanks to the law enforcement officers who protect our communities, and we pray for a future of peace on earth.”

First Lady Melania Trump returned to the White House from Mar-a-Lago on Monday after President Donald Trump lamented he was left alone in the White House for the holiday.
“I am all alone (poor me) in the White House waiting for the Democrats to come back and make a deal on desperately needed Border Security,” Trump wrote during a prolific day of tweeting. “At some point the Democrats not wanting to make a deal will cost our Country more money than the Border Wall we are all talking about. Crazy!”

In a segment that aired on Friday night on The Late Show, Laura Benanti reprised her role as Melania Trump to “Make America Christmas Again.”
The sketch starts with FLOTUS who has been left home alone at the White House to deliver the annual Christmas message. When Trump does not show, she breaks into song.
“It used to be illegal to say Merry Christmas. You’d be punished at the slightest mention. But now you’re free to say Merry Christmas all year unless you’re a migrant child in detention. Boo-hoo,” Benanti as Melania sings, complete with a red, “Make America Xmas Again” hat to emphasize the refrain.
Then, after complaining about how she is bullied and lamenting those who don’t love her “beautiful red trees,” she sprays the trees with a bottle labeled “blood.”

After ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel jokingly referenced the White House staffer essentially fired by First Lady Melania Trump, his guest, former FLOTUS Michelle Obama, noted that she never had a situation like that.
The host greeted Michelle Obama, who appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night to discuss her new book Becoming, by begging her to go back to the White House with her husband, so as to replace President Donald Trump, who Kimmel has vocally opposed on his show.
“If you wanted to get someone in your husband’s administration fired, how would you do that?” Kimmel asked, later in the segment.
Last week, Deputy National Security Advisor Mira Ricardel was ousted from the administration after the first lady sent out a press released endorsing her firing, which raised questions on how much control she has over the White House’s internal workings

Late night host Trevor Noah brought up the White House’s latest staff move during his most recent show.
On Wednesday, the news broke that following First Lady Melania Trump’s statement showing her displeasure at deputy national security adviser Mira Ricardel, Ricardel will be transitioning out of her role.
According to the statement sent out by White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders announcing the move, “Mira Ricardel will continue to support the President as she departs the White House to transition to a new role within the Administration.”
The statement adds: “The President is grateful for Ms. Ricardel’s continued service to the American people and her steadfast pursuit of his national security priorities.”
Speaking of the news on his latest show, Noah had some thoughts about Ricardel leaving as well as Mrs. Trump unexpected move.
“Sweet lord, Melania does not mess around!” he said. “We barely hear Continue reading "Trevor Noah on Mira Ricardel’s Departure: Is the White House ‘Running Out of People We Know to Fire?’"
Mira Ricardel is transitioning out of her role as deputy national security adviser after First Lady Melania Trump took the unusual step of calling for her ouster.
In a statement sent to the press on Tuesday, spokesperson Stephanie Grisham wrote, “It is the position of the Office of the First Lady that [Mira Ricardel] no longer deserves the honor of serving in this White House.”
Ricardel’s “strong personality” reportedly led to reports of tension with Mrs. Trump, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, and chief of staff John Kelly and there was even a report that she had been fired and led off the White House grounds (which was later corrected).
However, the statement by White House press secretary Sarah Sanders makes it clear that while she will be moved to a new role, she will still be part of the Trump administration.
“Mira Ricardel will continue to support the President as she departs the Continue reading "BREAKING: NatSec Adviser Melania Trashed Forced Out of White House Into ‘New Role’ in Trump Admin"
President Donald Trump was caught totally off-guard by First Lady Melania Trump‘s stunning public opposition to deputy National Security Advisor Mira Ricardel.
According to reporting from CNN White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins, the president complained that the whole episode made him look like he was taking orders from his wife.
“Trump was said to be blindsided by the First Lady’s statement Tuesday,” Collins said. “Feeling backed into a corner and complaining he looks like a bossed around husband.”
Ricardel was back at work on Wednesday. National Security Advisor John Bolton, according to CNN, was trying to save his chief deputy’s job — even as he’s on a trip to Singapore.

Congressman Adam Schiff, the incoming chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, reacted on CNN tonight to the “rare” step of First Lady Melania Trump calling for a White House national security official to go.
The First Lady’s office put out a blistering statement today saying that Mira Ricardel, the deputy national security advisor, should no longer be in the White House. There were some conflicting follow-up reports earlier but it looks like Ricardel is on the way out.
Schiff told Erin Burnett it certainly looks like after the firing of Jeff Sessions, more heads are about to roll.
Jake Tapper and his panel tried to make sense of today’s latest round of White House chaos, with the rather stunning statement from First Lady Melania Trump‘s office calling for deputy national security adviser Mira Ricardel to go.
Per some reports, there had been friction between Ricardel and the First Lady’s staff for a while now, particularly concerning her recent trip to Africa.
Tapper said right off the bat, “I’ve never seen anything like this.”
Amanda Carpenter said people should be concerned because “the first lady didn’t have any national security experience,” and someone who isn’t a “former model” should be making national security decisions.
Symone Sanders found it odd that the First Lady, who generally tends not to make that many headlines, would speak out this way on this particular issue. Mary Katharine Ham agreed it’s “very weird” and out of character, not to mention it raises Continue reading "Jake Tapper and Panel Stunned by Melania’s Call for WH Official to Go: ‘Never Seen Anything Like This’"
The Wall Street Journal issued a correction on Tuesday to a report that a top national security staffer was fired and escorted from the White House, after the White House denied it. But it appears the staffer is still getting the axe.
“White House Deputy National Security Adviser Mira Ricardel is expected to be fired,” the correction read.
Earlier Tuesday, First Lady Melania Trumpissued a stunning statement that apparently called for the ouster of Ricardel.
“It is the position of the Office of the First Lady that [Ricardel] no longer deserves the honor of serving in this White House,” Melania Trump’s spokeswomen Stephanie Grisham said when asked about rumors of tensions between John Bolton‘s deputy and the first lady.
Moments later, the Wall Street Journalreported that Ricardel had been fired and escorted from the White House.
“Ricardel was fired after clash with first lady,” an anonymous official
The office of First Lady Melania Trump has officially laid down the gauntlet and called for deputy national security adviser Mira Ricardel to be booted from the White House.
Per multiple reports, there have been suspicions that Ricardel was behind some negative stories about the First Lady and there was an apparent clash between her and Melania Trump’s staff over FLOTUS’ recent trip to Africa.
The statement from her office came after reporting that the President is looking at another big internal shake-up.
As CNN’s Dana Bash put it this afternoon, “It’s a public shaming.”
“I don’t remember First Ladies being this involved publicly ever,” she told Brooke Baldwin. “Nancy Reagan certainly was involved behind the scenes, but to publicly come out in an unsolicited statement and say her husband’s deputy national security adviser… ‘no longer deserves the honor of serving in this White House’ is remarkable. Less than a week after the firing of Jeff Sessions, there’s already new reporting on internal White House strife. And First Lady Melania Trump is publicly calling for the ouster of a top administration aide.
The Wall Street Journalreported earlier today that President Donald Trump is ready for another big shake-up, particularly getting rid of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen. And if she goes, then chief of staff John Kelly may be next out the door.
One slightly less notable news item in the report concerned Mira Ricardel, the White House deputy national security adviser, and how Trump has decided to remove her:
White House chief of staff John Kelly might soon be out of the Trump Administration, multiple reports suggest.
Reports dropped Monday night that President Donald Trumpplans to replace Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen with someone who will execute his policies in better alignment with his agenda. Nielsen is a known political ally of Kelly, and on Tuesday, the Wall Street Journal reported the president is thinking about who he’ll get to replace Kelly if Nielsen’s forced resignation causes him to leave the administration.
“This is how the president works,” an unnamed White House official told the Journal. “He’s doused a bunch of people in gasoline and he’s waiting for someone to light a match.”
In a separate story, NBC reported Kelly has recently clashed with various members of the White House — including, most notably, the First Lady. Hallie Jackson told Andrea Mitchell that Kelly butted heads Continue reading "John Kelly May Soon Be Out at White House After Clashing With Melania Trump"
Stephanie Grisham, press secretary for Melania Trump, had a dispute with CNN reporter Kate Bennett on Monday in terms of whether she was offended by Michelle Obama offering to give her successor advice on how to contend with the stresses of being First Lady.
Obama gave an interview to ABC’s Robin Roberts on Sunday as part of her promotional campaign for her new memoir, Becoming. During this chat, Roberts recalled how Laura Bush promised to make herself available if Obama ever needed any advice during her husband’s presidency, and Obama said that she used a portion of her new book to say that she made the same offer to Mrs. Trump.
The thing is, Obama says Trump has never taken up the offer.
CNN’s Kate Bennett asked the First Lady’s press office about this, and she received a statement from Grisham swatting down Obama’s offer.
Bennett also noted
The hosts of Fox News’ The Five slammed T.I. today for a video featuring a Melania Trump lookalike stripping in the Oval Office. The First Lady’s spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham tweeted in favor of boycotting T.I. as a result.
Dana Perino in particular said the First Lady did nothing to deserve that and said first ladies in general should just be off limits.
Jesse Watters then asked, “Why doesn’t Michelle Obama speak up?”
Moments later Juan Williams said this in response:
“To your point about Michelle Obama, just this week we had this case where a woman running for the Senate in Minnesota was found do have said Michelle Obama can’t stand up as straight as a chimp. I mean, gosh. You think about that kind of racist language or don’t forget what happened even around here, we’ve called her baby mama. Remember that kind of stuff?”
MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace ripped President Donald Trump over his “horseface” tweet attacking Stormy Daniels, but she also said it’s very clearly at odds with what Melania Trump and Ivanka Trump are trying to do.
“It renders the First Lady’s Be Best campaign, an anti-bullying effort, pointless and satirical, and Ivanka Trump’s stated mission of being some sort of ambassador for women a pointless joke,” Wallace said. “How can these women and any woman in the White House pretend that they work for anyone other than a very loud-mouthed and very thin-skinned bully?”
She said it seems like insulting and going after women seems to be a “political strategy” for Trump, bringing up examples ranging from “Miss Piggy” and “Miss Housekeeping” to “Look at that face, would anyone vote for that?”
During the panel discussion, Wallace again brought up the work the First Lady and First Daughter are Continue reading "Nicolle Wallace: How Can Women in Trump WH Pretend They Don’t Work for a ‘Thin-Skinned Bully’?"
During her big ABC News interview last night, First Lady Melania Trump said she was “blindsided” by her husband President Donald Trump‘s policy of family separation at the border.
Trump talked in the interview about her Be Best campaign, bullying, her husband’s infidelities, etc., but Tom Llamas also asked about the President denouncing “chain migration” despite how it helped her own parents.
The First Lady said she agrees with her husband that we need to be “vigilant about who is coming to the country.”
Llamas asked, “But do you think people should be able to bring in their mother and their father?”
“Yes, of course,” Trump responded. “But we need to vet them, we need to know who they are.”
But she does have a serious issue with family separations at the border, telling Llamas she “reacted right away.”
“It was unacceptable for me Continue reading "Melania Trump: I Was ‘Blindsided’ by Family Separations, Zero Tolerance Policy on Immigration"
On Friday night, ABC aired a one-hour extended interview with First Lady Melania Trump.
At one point, talk turned to why she wore the now infamous “I Really Don’t Care, Do U?” jacket to get on the plane to visit with detained immigrant kids.
The First Lady admitted that she was sending a message, but insisted the message was aimed at the media.
“You know, I often asking myself, if I would not wear that jacket, if I will have so much media coverage,” Mrs. Trump began.
She then stressed that the message was not aimed at the detained kids, but the “left-wing media” who criticize her.
“I want to show them that I don’t care,” she continued adding she deliberately wore the jacket on the way back home because of the media brouhaha. “I put it back on because I see how media got obsessed about it,” Continue reading "Melania Trump Says ‘Don’t Care’ Jacket Was Message to ‘Left-Wing Media,’ Not Detained Immigrant Kids"
White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders went after the hosts of The View for “their disgusting attacks” on First Lady Melania Trump.
The co-hosts got heated yesterday over the First Lady’s comments about #MeToo, and today guest host Yvette Nicole BrownaskedTom Llamas––who interviewed Melania––”Is it possible that she’s not concerned with his mistresses because she was one of them?”
Sanders tweeted tonight, “Sad @TheView continues their disgusting attacks on @FLOTUS. The left’s “war on women” they disagree with is a disgrace. @FLOTUS is strong, accomplished, and has a lot more class than the women who bully her.”
