Morning Joe laughed at Donald Trump‘s expense on Monday as the president claims to be the hardest-working leader America has ever seen. Over the weekend, Axios published a new set of Trump’s White House schedules, the contents of which support previous indications that the president gets to spend large portions of his day in unstructured “executive time.” As Morning Joe addressed the news and the White House’s attempts to defend itself, the panel started smirking while Mika Brzezinski called it “playtime” for Trump. Here’s what Joe Scarborough had to say:
“What an absolute joke. We’ve seen one person after another saying he often just hunkers down upstairs in the personal quarters, he spends of majority of his time watching table news, tweeting, yelling, staring at TV sets like an old man in a retirement home instead of a President of the United States who is supposed to be Continue reading "Morning Joe Goes Off on ‘Laziest President’ Ever: Trump’s ‘Like an Old Man in a Retirement Home’"

Morning Joe Asks Howard Schultz How Much a Box of Cheerios Costs. He Does Not Know.

Former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz was asked a question on MSNBC Wednesday that may shed some light on how well he connects with the little things Americans tend to notice in their everyday lives. The billionaire was on Morning Joe to continue his media tour and further elaborate on his proposed plan to run for president in 2020 as a “centrist independent.” As Schutlz described himself as someone who understands the American people, Mika Brzezinski surprised Schultz with what should not be a tough question: “How much does an 18 ounce box of Cheerios costs?” Schultz was stumped on that one, telling the MSNBC hosts he had no idea while Brzezinski laughed as she filled him in. WaPo Reporter Dishes on Why Joe and Mika Aren’t Hosting Morning Joe ‘Together’

Washington Post reporter Paul Fahri might have just solved the mystery of why it seems Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski have rarely co-hosted from the set of Morning Joe recently. Regular viewers of the show might have noticed that it has been a while since Scarborough and Brzezinski conducted the show from their New York City studio, nor have they even been on camera together. As Fahri points out, the show has been using clever broadcasting tactics to distract viewers from where the hosts are, if not at 30 Rock.

Joe Scarborough Calls Orange County a ‘Sea of Blue’: ‘Congrats Republicans, You just Lost Reagan Country’

MSNBC host Joe Scarborough sarcastically congratulated Republicans on turning Orange County, California, which he referred to as “Reagan country,” into a “sea of blue” after its congressional districts all went for Democrats in the 2018 midterms. “You look out at Orange county, my gosh, as Tom Nichols said, ‘Congratulations, Republicans, you just lost Reagan county,'” the Morning Joe host said today. “It looks like it’s going to be a complete wipeout.” “Look at how red Orange counties was just two with years ago.” Now, Mika, it is a sea of blue,” he added. “A huge, huge crushing defeat for Trump Republicanism. We’ll see if they try to change their tact over the next couple of years, if they want to start winning elections again, and any swing districts.” Democrats who captured seats in Orange County include Mike Levin, who won retiring Rep. Darrell Issa’s (R-CA) district, Katie Porter, who Continue reading "Joe Scarborough Calls Orange County a ‘Sea of Blue’: ‘Congrats Republicans, You just Lost Reagan Country’"

Morning Joe Reveals Trump Once Admitted He Plays Race Card: ‘I Know It’s Bad But It Works’

Morning Joe took a critical view of some of the GOP campaign strategies on Monday, the day before the 2018 midterm elections, and took a harsh view of what they called blatant racist tactics by Republican candidates in a number of local races. They then revealed a remarkable admission President Donald Trump made to them in a private conversation. The particular conversation excerpted here opened with a conversation surrounding the heated gubernatorial race in Georgia that sees Democratic candidate Stacey Abrams running neck and neck with Secretary of State Brian Kemp in a traditionally red state. Kemp’s office recently alleged that there was a Democratic attempt to “hack” state voting polls (without citing evidence), and many political experts are alleging unfair voter suppression, particularly of African-American voters in Georgia. NBC News National Political Reporter Heidi Przybyla noted a disturbing trend of polls tightening in many races after what she saw Continue reading "Morning Joe Reveals Trump Once Admitted He Plays Race Card: ‘I Know It’s Bad But It Works’"

Howard Dean Says Pittsburgh Shootings Have ‘Energized’ Democrats for Midterms: ‘I’m Pretty Optimistic’

On MSNBC this morning, former chairman of the DNC Howard Dean was on Morning Joe to talk about the upcoming midterm elections and said that the horrific anti-Semitic slayings in Pittsburgh have “energized” Democrats for the vote. Host Mika Brzezinski introduced the one-time governor and asked him “how are the Democrats doing” in the upcoming midterms with less than week until the vote. “Well, it’s very interesting,” said Dean. “this is almost an impossible election to predict, because all the races, there’s 80 races or whatever they are that are swing races, an awful lot of them are are three-point rates either way, so it’s really hard–” Brzezinski asked him if he was surprised by that, and he said he was not. “The Democrats are basically trying to basically run against a president who has a very powerful message of hate, basically, which can be effective at times like this Continue reading "Howard Dean Says Pittsburgh Shootings Have ‘Energized’ Democrats for Midterms: ‘I’m Pretty Optimistic’"

Scarborough: Trump’s Message to White Nationalists? Synagogue Massacre ‘Doesn’t Bug’ Him That Much

President Donald Trump’s behavior in the immediate reaction to the deadly shooting at the Pittsburgh Tree of Life Synagogue that left 11 people dead drew the ire of Morning Joe’s panel, who were deeply critical of the Commander in Cheif’s comments in light of this horrible hate crime. On the day that 11 worshipers lost their lives at the hands of an unhinged anti-Semite who appeared to be reacting to false reports that George Soros’ had underwritten the “caravan” of migrants that has been in the news of late, Trump chose not to cancel a political rally, and instead did some things that critics saw as uniquely unpresidential. Morning Joe’s producers opted to open their show this morning with a montage of past and current presidents making comforting statements. Viewers saw clips of Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama each rising to the challenge of Continue reading "Scarborough: Trump’s Message to White Nationalists? Synagogue Massacre ‘Doesn’t Bug’ Him That Much"

Mika Brzezinski Warns Dems Not to ‘Get Into the Gutter’: Trump Wants a Brawl…He ‘Thrives on Chaos’

On Thursday, Mika Brzezinski cautioned Democrats not to lower themselves and give President Trump what he wants ahead of the midterm elections. There were multiple moments of Morning Joe today when Brzezinski argued that Trump bears responsibility for the climate that led to the ongoing campaign of suspicious packages being sent out around the country. As Brzezinski spoke to New York City mayor Bill de Blasio about this, she once again remarked that Trump’s rhetoric made it “inevitable” that top Democrats and the media would be targeted. At one point, Brzezinski acknowledged her own “highly reactive” commentary and warned that Democrats mustn’t drop civility in political discourse since Trump would be the one who benefits if they “get into the gutter” with him.
“We know what Trump wants before the mid-terms is a brawl, a battle of conspiracy theories, unhinged accusations and violent rude behavior. Democrats don’t do it. Pull Continue reading "Mika Brzezinski Warns Dems Not to ‘Get Into the Gutter’: Trump Wants a Brawl…He ‘Thrives on Chaos’"

Mika Brzezinski Calls Out Republicans: After Bomb Scare, It’s No Longer OK To Defend Trump

Mika Brzezinski has a message for Republicans in office: It is no longer okay for you defend President Donald Trump. Morning Joe opened today’s show in a much more serious tone than normal, which is understandable given yesterday’s spate of explosive devices sent to Democratic former officials and CNN. President Trump twice condemned the failed attack in prepared remarks but drew criticism from the Morning Joe panel for not canceling the political rally he attended last night in Wisconsin. Brzezinski made clear that she did not hold Trump specifically responsible for the attacks, but indirectly painted him with a guilty brush, saying that it was a “reflection of his rhetoric.” She then addressed to Republican officials who have been remarkably quiet on Trump’s non-traditional bellicosity. “And note to Republicans, this is something you can’t let go by anymore. You can’t. Our country is at risk. We have been attacked. It’s no Continue reading "Mika Brzezinski Calls Out Republicans: After Bomb Scare, It’s No Longer OK To Defend Trump"

On Thursday night, MSNBC hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough weighed in on the ongoing controversy surrounding the reported death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Brzezinski began by telling Stephen Colbert that Donald Trump has gotten “really good at being a really bad president” during the past two news cycles, citing his handling of the contentious confirmation battle of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh and now he’s making us “look like a joke around the world” with his handling of Saudi Arabia. “Every time he opens his mouth, we go down a peg internationally,” Brzezinski said. “We’re gonna pay for that for years to come.” The Late Show host then pressed the Morning Joe co-host on how “we’ll pay for it” since the rapid news cycle often makes major news stories ancient history. “Because this president has been calling the press the ‘enemy of the people’ and I can tell Continue reading "Mika Brzezinski Blames Khashoggi’s Death on Trump For Calling Press ‘The Enemy’: We Wont Let This Go"

Joe Scarborough Predicts Trump Won’t Seek Reelection in 2020: ‘He Didn’t Want To Be Elected President’

On Thursday night, MSNBC hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski appeared on The Late Show and gave their thoughts on 2020. Stephen Colbert began by asking them who they thought are “reasonable” Democratic hopefuls that they think are running. “It looks like that Joe Biden is running. I think John Kerry is gonna run,” Brzezinski responded. “I love Kamala Harris.” Colbert then pivoted to the GOP side and asked the Morning Joe co-hosts if they think anyone will challenge President Donald Trump in the primaries. Scarborough believed so… but not for the reason you think. “I don’t think they will have to step up to challenge Donald Trump because I don’t think Donald Trump is going to run for reelection,” Scarborough told Colbert. “He didn’t want to be elected president, he didn’t think he was going to be elected. He didn’t even think he was going to get the Continue reading "Joe Scarborough Predicts Trump Won’t Seek Reelection in 2020: ‘He Didn’t Want To Be Elected President’"

Morning Joe Slams Trump’s 60 Minutes Hit: Came Off as ‘Big Baby’; ‘Ill-Equipped and Unfit to Lead’

Morning Joe opened their show this morning with a collectively stunned reaction from President Donald Trump’s wide-ranging and free-form 60 Minutes interview with Lesley Stahl. In the view of hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, the Commander in Chief came off as a “big baby” and appeared ill-equipped and unfit to lead the country.” Frequent contributor John Heilemann chimed in with an “emperor’s got no clothes” reference but it was panelist John Podhoretz who finally arrived at providing analysis of Trump’s particular rhetoric on display. “It was Trump coming fully out and saying I am running — I wouldn’t say immoral, but ‘beyond moral’ presidency,” said the consistently besweatered contributor. Later in a 20-minute segment (of which only four minutes are excerpted here), Scarborough ridiculed Trump’s response to Stahl’s questioning about dealing with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, saying”how could conservatives not be shocked and offended by what Continue reading "Morning Joe Slams Trump’s 60 Minutes Hit: Came Off as ‘Big Baby’; ‘Ill-Equipped and Unfit to Lead’"

Morning Joe Shreds Kavanaugh For His Defense of ‘Sharp’ Hearing: He ‘Cried Like a Baby’

The cast of Morning Joe was not buying Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh‘s op-ed in the Wall Street Journal defending his temperament at his Senate Judiciary Hearing and reassuring that he will be an impartial judge. “I do not decide cases based on personal or policy preferences,” Kavanaugh wrote. “I was very emotional last Thursday, more so than I have ever been. I might have been too emotional at times. I know that my tone was sharp, and I said a few things I should not have said. I hope everyone can understand that I was there as a son, husband and dad.” Morning Joe aired some clips of Kavanaugh’s raging opening statement before the committee as a reminder of how the judge behaved. “It doesn’t matter where you stand,” Joe Scarborough said. “It’s so problematic, to think about somebody like that sitting on the Supreme Court, where Continue reading "Morning Joe Shreds Kavanaugh For His Defense of ‘Sharp’ Hearing: He ‘Cried Like a Baby’"

Mika Brzezinski Challenges Kellyanne Conway to Reveal Details of ‘Very Convenient’ Sexual Assault Story

Mika Brzezinski challenged Kellyanne Conway to speak out about her own sexual assault, after the White House aide said Christine Blasey Ford, the accuser of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, has been treated “like a Fabergé egg” since coming forward. Conway first said on CNN’s State of the Union on Sunday that she was a victim of assault. She had alluded to her assault on MSNBC in 2016, shortly after the release of the Access Hollywood tape in which Trump boasted of committing sexual assault. She has declined to reveal details about what happened. On Morning Joe Thursday, Brzezinski said that she was “really struck” by Conway’s latest comments that Ford has “been treated like a Fabergé egg.” “I find that fascinating actually, because Kellyanne Conway went on a Sunday show and in the middle of making her point she announced she’s a victim of sexual assault,” Continue reading "Mika Brzezinski Challenges Kellyanne Conway to Reveal Details of ‘Very Convenient’ Sexual Assault Story"

Mika Brzezinski: Sarah Huckabee Sanders ‘Made Rotten to the Core’ by Trump Presidency

The White House held a Press Briefing yesterday and judging by how it was received, we can now see the reasons why they are now roughly held only once a month. Yesterday’s contentious question and answer led by Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was largely focused on was described as derogatory or mocking comments made by President Donald Trump towards the testimony made by Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. While Trump’s ridiculing of the memory of the alleged sexual assault victim drew bipartisan rebuke, Sanders found herself in the no-win situation of having to defend her boss’s mocking tone. But Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski had no room for understanding Sanders’ plight and laced into what she saw as her “flabbergasting” defense. She first described the Commander in Chief’s speech as “this misogynist knowingly mocking her on stage” before blasting Sanders:
I don’t understand Sarah Huckabee Sanders. I don’t get it. Some would say Continue reading "Mika Brzezinski: Sarah Huckabee Sanders ‘Made Rotten to the Core’ by Trump Presidency"

Mika on Trump’s Low Poll Numbers: ‘Potpourri of Issues Where This President is Repugnant’

Morning Joe ran through the numbers on Thursday and found that they’re not very good for President Trump. The show examined the new CNN/SSRS poll which found that 61% of Americans support Robert Mueller‘s ongoing investigation, 72% think Trump should testify under oath, and almost half of the country thinks the president ought to be impeached. Joe Scarborough acknowledged that these numbers might not change the behavior of congressional Republicans since so many are “scared of their own shadow,” though he found it remarkable that Trump managed to find new ways to make himself unpopular. “I would have never guessed, but the child separation followed by Helsinki and followed actually by the ugliness surrounding John McCain‘s funeral,” Scarborough said. “It’s had a devastating impact on the numbers.” Mika Brzezinski also got in on the conversation, saying “there’s a potpourri of issues where this president is repugnant.” Continue reading "Mika on Trump’s Low Poll Numbers: ‘Potpourri of Issues Where This President is Repugnant’"

SPOTTED: Mika Brzezinski Spends Entire Flight Watching Fox News

It appears a certain MSNBC host is keeping an eye on the competition… A tipster told Mediaite that Mika Brzezinski watched rival network Fox News for an entire flight Wednesday morning. The MSNBC host and fiancé Joe Scarborough boarded JetBlue flight B6 62 from West Palm Beach, Florida bound for Laguardia Airport in New York at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday morning, after filming Morning Joe. The couple sat in seats 10E and 10F, per our tipster, and Joe spent most of the flight on his phone. Mika, meanwhile, turned the backseat television to Fox News — a network that is frequently the object of her scorn — and kept it on for the entire flight. The flight landed at 12:46 p.m., per trackers. That means Mika had the opportunity to catch the bottom two hours of America’s Newsroom with Bill Hemmer and Sandra Smith, as well as Continue reading "SPOTTED: Mika Brzezinski Spends Entire Flight Watching Fox News"

Scarborough: Is There Concern for Trump’s Mental Well Being? Woodward: ‘I am Not a Psychiatrist’

The transformation of cable news programming into 100% Bob Woodward coverage continues unabated. And while there is little new information to be revealed about the author and his new book Fear,  we are now focusing on the questions cable news hosts are asking of the Pulitzer Prize-winning author. Take for example today’s episode of Morning Joe.  Context: Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski have, over the past 20 months or so, quite vocally speculated about the mental health of President Donald Trump. They’ve claimed he is “not well,” noted “slurred words” and have called him “unstable” or “unfit” for office numerous times. So it seems relatively newsworthy when early in an interview, Scarborough went there, asking Woodward if any staffers expressed “concern about Donald Trump’s well being, mentally.” A fair question to be sure, though critics are just as certain to see someone looking to confirm his own bias? Scarborough: Trump and Supporters ‘Embarrassing Themselves’ Over Op-Ed, ‘This is Not Treason’

On MSNBC’s Morning Joe on Monday, the hosts and guests naturally talked abut the anonymous New York Times op-ed published last week after an enraged President Trump called it “treason”, which came up a lot on the Sunday news shows. Host Joe Scarborough had some choice advice on the topic. Like many other journalists and pundits, Scarborough and his co-hosts, notably Mika Brzezinski, offered little respect or admiration for the anonymous author choosing to remain nameless. But the notion it constituted treason or “sedition” is another level, as Brzezinski pointed out. “There’s a lot of questions as to whether or not not following the system in reaction to the president is the right way to go,” said Brzezinski. “I think it’s a very slippery slope and extremely dangerous.” “But the investigation into “who done it”? That seems also to be a slippery slope as well, calling it treason. Continue reading "Scarborough: Trump and Supporters ‘Embarrassing Themselves’ Over Op-Ed, ‘This is Not Treason’"
