morningjoe from Martin Cizmar on Vimeo. The season finale of Saturday Night Live took on MSNBC’s Morning Joe with a hilarious parody that featured Tina Fey as Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya. The sketch started with a moaning and gasping Kate McKinnon‘s Mika Brzezinki and Alex Moffat‘s Joe Scarborough talking to Meghan McCain, played by Aidy Bryant. SNL Scarborough then says, “President Trump says he knew nothing about the meeting. Here to explain is the Russian lawyer who was there, Natalia Veselnitskaya.” Fey then enters to explain why there was no collusion. “No, Joe. They say this meeting is illegal, but is so ridiculous. It makes me laugh hysterically. Heh-heh,” replied Fey’s Veselnitskaya with a comic Russian accent. Watch above, via NBC. [image via screengrab]
“I think it’s a fair time to start asking this question,” said Joe Scarborough Thursday morning on MSNBC. “What did Mike Pence know and when did he know it?” Mike Pence is often spared of the venom spewed by the Morning Joe crew in the direction of President Donald Trump and many others in his administration. But Scarborough and company turned their ire upon the vice president following his comments to NBC’s Andrea Mitchell — in which he called for a hasty end to special counsel Robert Mueller‘s probe. “In the interest of the country, I think it’s time to wrap it up, and I would very respectfully encourage the special counsel and his team to bring their work to completion,” Pence said. To Scarborough, that plea from the veep was a red flag. “Mike Pence has been claiming that he was just out in the dark,” the Continue reading "Morning Joe Laces Into Pence For His Call to End Mueller Probe: ‘Playing the Role of Spiro Agnew…’"
MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski made clear her opposition to President Donald Trump’s withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal on Morning Joe Wednesday, questioning the president’s sanity and suggesting the decision had political motives. Trump announced on Tuesday that he would be withdrawing the US from the Obama-era agreement to limit Iran’s nuclear ambitions. In the deal’s place, Trump said the US would impose the “highest level” of sanctions on the country. The decision came in spite of pleas from America’s allies in Europe, notably France, Germany and the UK, to remain in the deal and work to improve it. “This does draw us more into the Middle East,” Brzezinski said. “Our allies are upset, for sure, at a time when I think the president’s sanity is being questioned globally.” “It was a campaign promise, it does appeal possibly to his base,” Brzezinski added. “But the totality of this president’s behavior Continue reading "MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski Suggests Trump Pulled Out of Iran Deal to ‘Deflect’ From Scandals"
Rudy Giuliani‘s stunning media blitz continued over the weekend — as the former New York City Mayor sat down for wild interviews with Jeanine Pirro and George Stephanopoulos, among others. Giuliani, for his part, thinks it’s all going well for him on TV. But one prominent critic begs to differ. Monday on Morning Joe, host Joe Scarborough absolutely shredded Giuliani for making freewheeling comments from which the White House has already tried to distance itself. Particularly, Scarborough took issue with Giuliani’s talk about the potential release of three North Korean prisoners. “Not only did he unravel more playing stand-in Secretary of State, spitting on prepared remarks,” Scarborough said. “It seemed completely out of control.” Scarborough noted that instead of stand-in Secretary of State, there was a time where Giuliani was being considered for the actual job. “We have to remember this is a man that the Continue reading "Morning Joe Breaks Down ‘Train Wreck’ Giuliani’s Media Blitz: ‘He Would Fall Asleep’ in Meetings"
As Morning Joe reviewed the latest White House press briefing, they wondered if there’s any point to having them anymore if Sarah Huckabee Sanders is just going to use them to spread disinformation and not answer questions. Sanders was under enormous pressure on Thursday to explain contradictions that have come to light thanks to Rudy Giuliani‘s remarks in the media regarding President Donald Trump’s knowledge of a hush money payment to Stormy Daniels. Since the current news cycle is gravitating around the White House’s credibility crisis, the Morning Joe panel expressed concern over how it’ll be hard to believe anything Trump says if he ever has to address the nation in an actual crisis. “Have we ever actually gotten the White House’s take on any legitimate questions out of those press briefings,” Brzezinski asked. “Have we ever gotten any truth out of them? Have they come to the point Continue reading "Morning Joe Rips Sarah Sanders: ‘If You’re Just Going to Lie, Why Bother’ Holding Press Briefings?"
A Morning Joe segment derailed on Wednesday after co-host Mika Brzezinski suggested that the alleged raid on Donald Trump’s doctor was intended to cover up evidence of a sexually transmitted disease. MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle appeared on Morning Joe to discuss her report that White House Chief of Staff John Kelly repeatedly called Trump an “idiot” in private conversations, and made an analogy about those who choose to work for the president: “It’s truly like every time I’ve ever dated an awful jerk out there and then thought, you know what? I’m going to be the girl to change him,” Ruhle said. “And every person that touches President Trump thinks that: I’m going to be the girl that turns this guy around.” “And nobody can, because this is who he is.” The MSNBC host added, “we know from Kellyanne Conway, unless you show true worship of the grand master Continue reading "Morning Joe Derails After Mika Brzezinski Suggests Raid on Trump’s Doctor Was to Cover Up an STD"
Joe Scarborough mocked President Donald Trump for tweeting the phrase “mission accomplished” after the US strikes in Syria, as George W. Bush infamously printed the same words on a banner he used while giving a speech in 2003 on the for from accomplished Iraq War. “Could not have had a better result,” tweeted Trump on Saturday. “Mission Accomplished!” While Scarborough passionately supported the Iraq War himself — which ultimately lasted until 2011, eight years after Bush’s “mission accomplished” moment — he still tore into the president for using the war terminology of his Republican predecessor. “Why didn’t he channel Nixon and say I am not a crook?” joked the Morning Joe host — referencing Richard Nixon’s famous defense he used before the Watergate scandal broke open. “There are phrases you just don’t use. Mission accomplished would be one. Especially on the most complicated theater on the planet. We have such Continue reading "Scarborough Mocks Trump’s ‘Mission Accomplished’ Tweet: Should’ve Also Said ‘I Am Not A Crook’"
