New Yorker investigative journalist Ronan Farrow spoke out on the inevitable confirmation of Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh. Farrow, whose bombshell report on Harvey Weinstein catapulted the #MeToo movement, broke the story of Kavanaugh’s second accuser Deborah Ramirez, who alleges that Kavanaugh assaulted her during a party in college. As The Hollywood Reporter reports, Farrow hinted at the New Yorker Festival that there may be more Kavanaugh accusers who may come forward “in a different context.” “We are seeing every shred of information spun and weaponized and turned into a political football,” Farrow said. “It is very clear the effect that partisan snipping has had on the potential of additional information coming to light. There are more sources who might come forward in a different context.” “This politicized race to confirm .. has precluded the truth coming to the fore in a way that could help Continue reading "Ronan Farrow Hints at More Kavanaugh Accusers: They ‘Might Come Forward in a Different Context’"

Sen. Blumenthal Says Democrats ‘Had Nothing To Do’ With Kavanaugh Accusers Coming Forward

Asked this afternoon about comments from President Donald Trump that the allegations against Brett Kavanaugh are a “con job” by Democrats, Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-NY) said that Democrats had nothing to do with their coming forward. “Democrats had nothing to do with these women coming forward. They came forward on their own,” said Senator Blumenthal. “Calling it a ‘con job’, blaming it on Democrats, is more disrespect and disregard for women who are survivors of sexual attack, It is an insult to the survivor community to imply that these women Continue reading "Sen. Laura Ingraham Rails Against ‘Ridiculous’ New Yorker Kavanaugh Piece: ‘Can’t Believe’ They Ran it

On Monday night, Laura Ingraham took aim at The New Yorker for running the Ronan Farrow/Jane Mayer report on Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh‘s second accuser. Ingraham began by blasting the “standards” being set for Kavanaugh for accusations made by Dr. Christine Blasey Ford and Deborah Ramirez when he was in high school and college. “We were all in college, we were all in high school… but we all did stupid stuff,” Ingraham told the panel. “I don’t know what happened. I do know Kavanaugh. I’ve known him for a long time. This isn’t the Brett I know. And it’s a long time ago… Is this where we’re going, guys? Are we going back into people’s ‘How many times did you get drunk at a party? Did you go to a keg party? How many girls were there? What did you do?’ And at what Continue reading "Laura Ingraham Rails Against ‘Ridiculous’ New Yorker Kavanaugh Piece: ‘Can’t Believe’ They Ran it"

Ronan Farrow and Jane Mayer Respond to Kavanaugh Denying New Yorker Report in Fox News Interview

Brett Kavanaugh categorically denied on Fox News tonight the new allegation of sexual misconduct in The New Yorker. Deborah Ramirez, as Ronan Farrow and Jane Mayer reported, alleges that Kavanaugh “had exposed himself at a drunken dormitory party, thrust his penis in her face, and caused her to touch it without her consent as she pushed him away.” Kavanaugh said it never happened and if it had, it would’ve been the talk of campus. Anchor Martha MacCallum noted during the interview that Ramirez had been unsure at first before saying she felt “confident enough of her recollections.” After Kavanaugh’s remarks, both Farrow and Mayer tweeted out reactions to his denial by pointing to what they had reported:

Ronan Farrow Jumps the Shark, But It’s Kavanaugh Who’s Chum: Annotating the New Yorker Report

Late yesterday, media darling Ronan Farrow, along with co-writer Jane Mayerpublished an allegation of sexual misconduct against current Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh in the New Yorker. There are so many examples of journalistic malpractice in the piece that I feel compelled to go through at least some of the many lowlights by taking direct quotes from the article and annotating them in the order in which they appeared. “The offices of at least four Democratic senators have received information about the allegation, and at least two have begun investigating it… The Democratic Senate offices reviewing the allegations believe that they merit further investigation.” This is what is called the news “hook.” The basis for why the allegation is newsworthy. The standard here used to be a criminal charge or at least a legitimate lawsuit, but now if unnamed partisan political operatives, with a Continue reading "Ronan Farrow Jumps the Shark, But It’s Kavanaugh Who’s Chum: Annotating the New Yorker Report"

Ronan Farrow Defends Reporting: ‘This Exceeds the Evidentiary Basis That We’ve Used in the Past’

Ronan Farrow defended his latest bombshell report in the New Yorker that revealed a second accuser of Supreme Court justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh. Farrow and Jane Mayer reported on Sunday night claims from Deborah Ramirez, 53, who said that at a dorm room party at Yale University in the 1980s Kavanaugh exposed himself and thrust his penis in her face. The report has come under scrutiny from supporters of Kavanaugh who have pointed out that Ramirez admitted in the story that she had “gaps in her memory” due to drinking, and that all of the people allegedly present at incident denied it took place. The report also noted that Ramirez was initially “reluctant to characterize Kavanaugh’s role in the alleged incident with certainty,” but after “six days of carefully assessing her memories and consulting with her attorney, Ramirez said that she felt confident enough” in her story. Farrow explained when pressed by CNN’s John Continue reading "Ronan Farrow Defends Reporting: ‘This Exceeds the Evidentiary Basis That We’ve Used in the Past’"

Ronan Farrow: New Kavanaugh Accuser Came Forward Because Democrats ‘Came Looking’

Ronan Farrow’s run of bombshell reports continued over the weekend when the New Yorker published an article (co-authored with Jane Mayer) that detailed new allegations of sexual misconduct of embattled Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. These new charges come to light while the Senate Judiciary Committee had been negotiating details surrounding public testimony of Dr. Christine Ford who had been at the center of previous allegations that are threatening to derail the Trump appointee’s confirmation. Republican critics have suggested that the Democrats have done everything they can to delay and stall a vote on Kavanaugh’s nomination, perhaps in hopes that other accusers would step forward. In an appearance on Good Morning America today, Farrow did little to dispel that skeptical claim, saying that the new accusation came to light after Senate Democrats went looking for this claim. A rough transcript of the interview:
STEPHANOPOLOS: “This jumped out at me. You said Continue reading "Ronan Farrow: New Kavanaugh Accuser Came Forward Because Democrats ‘Came Looking’"

The White House sent out a late-night email that focused on certain excerpts from the New Yorker bombshell report of new college-era allegations of sexual misconduct by embattled Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. Amid weekend negotiations for Thursday hearing for Dr. Christine Ford, the New Yorker dropped a new bombshell report that Senate Democrats are investigating a new allegation that dates back to the 1983-84 school year when Kavanaugh was a student at Yale. Stormy Daniels‘ lawyer Michael Avenatti also weighed into the controversy surrounding the accusation made against Kavanaugh by claiming he represents a woman with “credible information regarding Judge Kavanaugh and Mark Judge.” The statement included Ramirez’s own acknowledgments of uncertainty and denials from Continue reading "White House Pushes Back on New Yorker’s Kavanaugh Report: ‘Significant Gaps’ In Accusers’ Memories"

Kavanaugh Faces New Allegation in New Yorker: He ‘Thrust His Penis in Her Face’

On Sunday, the New Yorker dropped a new bombshell report that Senate Democrats are investigating a new allegation of sexual misconduct against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. The second allegation dates back to the 1983-84 school year when Kavanaugh was a student at Yale. According to the New Yorker:
As Senate Republicans press for a swift vote to confirm Brett Kavanaugh, President Trump’s nominee to the Supreme Court, Senate Democrats are investigating a new allegation of sexual misconduct against Kavanaugh. The claim dates to the 1983-84 academic school year, when Kavanaugh was a freshman at Yale University. The offices of at least four Democratic senators have received information about the allegation, and at least two have begun investigating it.
The offices reviewing the allegation say they believe it is credible. “This is another serious, credible, and disturbing allegation against Brett Kavanagh. It should be fully investigated,” Senator Mazie Hirono said. Continue reading "Kavanaugh Faces New Allegation in New Yorker: He ‘Thrust His Penis in Her Face’"

Les Moonves Booted From Hollywood’s Most Powerful List… And Replaced By Ronan Farrow

Ousted CBS chief Les Moonves was scrubbed from the Hollywood Reporter‘s Top 100 Most Powerful list — and replaced by Ronan Farrow, the reporter whose investigation into his alleged sexual misconduct precipitated his downfall. CNN’s Oliver Darcy reported Thursday that Moonves was initially slated to be in the top 10 of the magazine’s list of the most powerful people in entertainment, until the allegations against him — which include sexual assault — were revealed. Matthew Belloni, the Hollywood Reporter‘s editorial director, told CNN that after Moonves’ departure from CBS he met with his editors and they swiftly dumped the once powerful executive from the list. “That one was easy for us,” Belloni told CNN. “He’s out of the business. He’s no longer in his role and this list is all about power and the ability to green light things and influence the culture and he’s no Continue reading "Les Moonves Booted From Hollywood’s Most Powerful List… And Replaced By Ronan Farrow"

Ronan Farrow's Paternity an open question for Woody Allen Soon-Yi Previn, former step-daughter and current wife of 20 years to Woody Allen, sat down for an extensive interview recently with New York Magazine about her husband, their life, the #MeToo movement, and of course, Mia, Ronan, and Dylan Farrow. Ronan Farrow has become the effective lead journalist in the #MeToo movement, a movement to which father Woody Allen is a prominent villain. In addition to the heavy topics involving Soon-Yi’s own relationship, and the allegations of sexual molestation against Woody Allen by adoptive daughter Dylan Farrow, The Wrap points out that the question of Ronan Farrow’s paternity made it into the interview. The rumors are widely known and have persisted for years – New York Magazine‘s Daphne Merkin noted that Farrow has not discouraged them – that Frank Sinatra is actually Ronan’s father. Mia and Sinatra had an affair at the right time, and frankly the Continue reading "Woody Allen ‘Wouldn’t Bet His Life’ On Ronan Farrow Paternity"

Laura Ingraham, Howard Kurtz Criticize Ronan Farrow For Legitimizing Kavanaugh Allegation With TV Appearance

On Friday night, Laura Ingraham and Howard Kurtz took Ronan Farrow to task for his coverage of the misconduct allegation made against Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh. Farrow broke the story of the contents of the letter that was obtained by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) in July from a woman who alleged that Kavanaugh attempted to sexually assault her while drunk at a party in high school, something Kavanaugh has vehemently denied. It wasn’t until this week that Feinstein sent the letter by the accuser, who remains anonymous, to federal investigators. Ingraham noted how Farrow went on TV after he obtained a copy of that letter. “He’s won the Pulitzer Prize. He has a lot of credibility in reporting these issues- obviously Weinstein, what NBC did to stop that story, and other cases like it,” Ingraham said. “But I was kind of surprised he decided to kind of like Continue reading "Laura Ingraham, Howard Kurtz Criticize Ronan Farrow For Legitimizing Kavanaugh Allegation With TV Appearance"

New allegations against 60 Minutes executive producer Jeff Fager, who’s been accused of groping co-workers and fostering a culture of outright sexism at CBS, were revealed in a new report. The scoop was broken Sunday by The New Yorker‘s Ronan Farrow, who reported that in additino to a slew of fresh accusations against the company’s C.E.O. Les Moonves, Fager is also said to have been part of what’s been billed a “boy’s club.” That description came from Sarah Johansen, a producer with whom Farrow spoke. During her time as a CBS intern in the late 2000s, she said Fager touched her butt at a work party. Recalling the incident, Johansen told Farrow “all of a sudden, I felt a hand on my ass. The hand belonged to an arm which belonged to Jeff Fager.” To Johansen, it seemed like “a Continue reading "New Sexual Misconduct Allegations Made Against 60 Minutes Exec Jeff Fager: He Was On ‘A Power Trip’"

As CBS C.E.O. Les Moonves reportedly prepares to exit the company, six additional women have launched a fresh series of allegations against the executive, adding to mounting claims that his pattern of sexual misconduct was swept under the rug for years. The new accounts, broken by The New Yorker‘s Ronan Farrow, include both sexual harassment and assault between the 1980s and the early 2000s. Among the claims are stories “that Moonves forced them to perform oral sex on him, that he exposed himself to them without their consent, and that he used physical violence and intimidation against them,” Farrow writes. One of the women who has stepped forward, longtime TV executive Phyllis Golden-Gottlieb, said she made a criminal complaint to Los Angeles police last year, accusing the C.E.O. “of physically restraining her and forcing her to perform oral sex on him, and of exposing Continue reading "WATCH: Ronan Farrow Reports More Women Accuse Les Moonves of Sex Crimes and Violence"

A former executive who worked at the The Weinstein Company is now coming forward and refuting the memo released by NBC News over its handling of the Harvey Weinstein story. The executive, who has kept her identity anonymous, released a statement on Twitter under the account “Abby Ex” and attached Ronan Farrow and former NBC investigative producer Rich McHugh to her post. She identified herself in the memo as “former Executive A (female)” and believed NBC’s portrayal of her testimony was “misleading and incorrect.” She explained in the statement that she helped arranged meetings with Harvey Weinstein, “meetings, we now know, he used to sexually harass and assault women.” “While I didn’t know exactly what happened in those meetings, I knew how they were arranged and the dubious nature of being held in hotel rooms and

Megyn Kelly aired an extensive report on Tuesday morning questioning her own network’s handling of Ronan Farrow‘s reporting on Harvey Weinstein. NBC News chairman Andy Lack sent a lengthy internal memo to staff defending the network against allegations it “killed” Farrow’s story, which was eventually published in the New Yorker. “We begin with a story that hits close to home today,” Kelly began. The Megyn Kelly Today report detailed the memo, as well as the response from Farrow, who contested many of its points and insisted he was “blocked” from reporting the story. Kelly also reported that Rose McGowan countered NBC News’ claim that she declined to go on the record with her allegations against Weinstein. “This is getting really in the weeds, and it’s getting really uncomfortable,” Kelly said.

The Megyn Kelly Today host noted that NBC News was aware she would be covering the story, saying “to Continue reading "Megyn Kelly Suggests on NBC Show That ‘Outside Investigator’ Probe NBC News Handling of Weinstein Story"

One of Harvey Weinstein‘s victims has come forward in defense of journalist Ronan Farrow, who just accused NBC News of blocking him from further reporting on his story. Emily Nestor, who was on-record for Farrow’s New Yorker exposé, alleged she was harassed by Weinstein while working at The Weinstein Company. And she released a statement Monday night refuting NBC News’s memo that claimed Farrow didn’t have any on-the-record victims at the time.   Nestor began blasting NBC News Chairman Andy Lack‘s statement for excluding her and another accuser Ambra Gutierrez from the list of victims who were publicized in Continue reading "Weinstein Victim Backs Ronan Farrow: I Was Willing To Go On-Record For NBC But They ‘Weren’t Interested’"
