CNN’s Camerota Spars With Ronna McDaniel Over RNC’s Sex Scandals: What Does This Say About ‘Culture’?

In recent months, the Republican National Committee’s former Finance Chair Steve Wynn and top deputy Elliott Broidy, have both been involved in sexual misconduct scandals. Another top deputy, Trump lawyer Michael Cohen, has been involved as a fixer of sorts in several scandals. This begs the question which was asked Monday on New Day by Alisyn Camerota., who first listed off the RNC’s growing collection of scandals. “What does this all say about the culture at the RNC?” RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel tried to downplay the scandals — after stumbling over her response — by minimizing Wynn and Broidy’s roles. “Elliot and Steve resigned,” McDaniel said. “Obviously, the charges were troubling. We have hundreds of fundraisers.” Camerota pursued her line of questioning, as the interview grew tense. “In this Me Too moment what does it say that your finance committee is embroiled in this?” Continue reading "CNN’s Camerota Spars With Ronna McDaniel Over RNC’s Sex Scandals: What Does This Say About ‘Culture’?"

RNC Spokeswoman Writes CNN Opinion Piece Defending Jared Kushner from ‘Character Assassination’

The RNC is now going out of its way to defend… Jared Kushner. Yes, with all the scrutiny surrounding Kushner recently on his security clearance and business ties, a spokeswoman for the Republican National Committee has an op-ed out coming to the defense of the President’s senior advisor/son-in-law. The op-ed from Kayleigh McEnany says that far from being part of the swamp, Kushner is actually helping President Trump drain it:
As Kushner continues to make government accountable to the people, the Washington swamp — including the media and DC bureaucracy — has retaliated with a Kushner takedown effort, hiding or downplaying his accomplishments while engaging in character assassination. With little fanfare, Jared Kushner is quietly tackling Washington’s slow, outdated modus operandi while simultaneously engaging in high-level diplomacy that promotes America’s interests on the world stage.
She cites examples of what Kushner’s done over the past few days before saying the Continue reading "RNC Spokeswoman Writes CNN Opinion Piece Defending Jared Kushner from ‘Character Assassination’"

The RNC’s Refusal To Give Up Steve Wynn’s Contributions is Laughable

The #MeToo movement may have started in Hollywood, but it has spread rapidly throughout the country. More recently, it rocked Las Vegas when accusations of sexual harassment and assault were reported against Wynn Resorts CEO Steve Wynn. There are obvious comparisons that can be made between Wynn and Harvey Weinstein. Both were influential figures in the respective industries, both had their misdeeds purposefully buried by friendly media, and both were prominent contributors to political parties — with Weinstein being a heavy donor to Democrats, and Wynn contributing thousands of dollars to the RNC. Wynn also served as the RNC finance chair, a position from which he has stepped down. To their credit, Democrats rightfully donated much of the money Weinstein had given them to charity and some Republicans have already done the same with Wynn. However, the RNC has taken a firm position on the Wynn money — one Continue reading "The RNC’s Refusal To Give Up Steve Wynn’s Contributions is Laughable"

RNC Chair Deflects on Whether GOP Will Give Back Wynn Donations: ‘Should Be Allowed Due Process’

Republican National Committee chairwoman Ronna McDaniel gave a non-answer today when asked whether she would give back the money her organization received from Steve Wynn. The Las Vegas hotel and casino mogul resigned as the RNC’s finance chair this past weekend after reports came out about his alleged history of repeated sexual misconduct over the years. Fox News’s Sandra Smith asked McDaniel for her response to this, noting that Republican figures like Sean Spicer have said that Wyn’s contributions to the RNC should be donated. “The allegations in the Wall Street Journal were deeply troubling,” McDaniel said, “but Steve has denied these allegations, unlike Harvey Weinstein and Al Franken and others…There is an investigation that will take place. He should be allowed due process and if he is found of any wrongdoing, we will absolutely return 100% of that money. But we’ll let due process take place.” So we Continue reading "RNC Chair Deflects on Whether GOP Will Give Back Wynn Donations: ‘Should Be Allowed Due Process’"

RNC Chair Defends Trump Asking FBI Director About Election: ‘I Ask People Who They Vote For Sometimes’

RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel defended President Donald Trump on CNN’s New Day over a recent report that he asked deputy FBI director Andrew McCabe who he voted for in the 2016 election during a White House meeting. Trump quizzed McCabe, who was at the time acting FBI director, after he had fired former director James Comey according  to the Washington Post. McCabe, who did not vote in the 2016 election, reportedly found the question on his political allegiances “disturbing.” For the Republican National Committee chair, however, Trump was simply exchanging pleasantries. “I know this is a big story,” McDaniel conceded, Continue reading "RNC Chair Defends Trump Asking FBI Director About Election: ‘I Ask People Who They Vote For Sometimes’"

RNC Chair McDaniel: ‘Voters Want to See Candidates Embrace This President’

RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel is siding with President Trump over how Republican candidates should be “embracing” the President. Last night, after Ed Gillespie lost in Virginia, Trump tweeted this: On Fox News this morning, McDaniel said Virginia’s “getting bluer and bluer” anyway, but went on to make this observation:
“Voters want to see candidates embrace this President, and you saw in Virginia––Ralph Northam said, ‘I’m going to work with the President.’ They want to see things get done, they want to see people work together across party lines.”
Bill Hemmer asked if Gillespie should have embraced Trump more. “The greatest Continue reading "RNC Chair McDaniel: ‘Voters Want to See Candidates Embrace This President’"
