CNN Recalls Trump ‘Pledge’ from the Campaign Trail After His Comey ’Loyalty Pledge’ Denial

Earlier today, President Trump denied that he asked FBI Director James Comey to pledge his loyalty. CNN tonight played that clip right before showing a clip of Trump asking his supporters at a rally to make a pledge. Back in March 2016, Trump asked for his supporters to raise their hands and pledge that they would vote for him in the primary. Now, asking your own campaign supporters to pledge to vote for you is, well, very different from asking the head of the FBI to pledge his loyalty to you, but Wolf Blitzer said, “He says he would never ask anyone for a pledge, he clearly asked those folks for a pledge.” Brianna Keilar said, more seriously, this does raise the question of whether Trump will be able to recall what he said when presented with an account written by Comey right afterwards. Al Franken Accuses Jeff Sessions of Perjury: ‘I Think He Did Not Answer Truthfully Under Oath’

Back in March, Senator Al Franken (D-MN) said on CNN that “It’s hard to come to any other conclusion that (sic) [Attorney General Jeff Sessions] perjured himself.” Friday on Meet The Press Daily, the Minnesota Senator went even further. “I think he did not answer truthfully under oath,” Franken said. “You think he lied to Congress?” asked host Chuck Todd. “Yeah, I think he did,” Franken replied. Todd also put Franken on the spot about his rumored 2020 Presidential ambitions. Franken said he’s not interested in the job. He also speculated that people have thrown his name in the mix because he and Trump are both considered “entertainers.” Franken objects to being put in the same category with Trump. “He was on a reality show,” said the former Saturday Night Live comedian. He added that he believes Trump has “devalued the presidency.” Watch above, Continue reading "Al Franken Accuses Jeff Sessions of Perjury: ‘I Think He Did Not Answer Truthfully Under Oath’"

‘Retaliation’? Acosta, Blitzer Criticize White House for CNN’s Distant Seating at Presser

Earlier today, CNN’s Jim Acosta made note of just where his network was located during President Trump‘s presser. And he wasn’t happy about it: He appeared with Wolf Blitzer hours later to tell him the same, again saying it could have potentially been “retaliation.” “If it is retaliation,” he said, “that’s Continue reading "‘Retaliation’? Fox’s Bolling on Comey: I’ve Been in White House with Trump, ‘He Doesn’t Make Anyone Nervous!’

Fox News’ Eric Bolling today weighed in on former FBI Director James Comey expressing the concerns he had about his private meetings with President Donald Trump. Kat Timpf asked if he thinks Comey was “lying on purpose about the loyalty.” Bolling said he was “being only political”:
“When he had an opinion about anything in that testimony, it was negative for Trump. Everything that was factual, it was straight down the line.”

And the idea that Comey felt nervous in that one-on-one setting with the President was absurd to Bolling, who said, “I’ve been in the Oval Office with Donald Trump. I’ve been in the White House with Donald Trump. He doesn’t make anyone nervous!” Watch above, via Fox News. [image via screengrab] — — Follow Josh Feldman on Twitter: @feldmaniac

Marsha Blackburn Questions Comey: ‘He Has a Very Interesting Relationship With the Truth’

Republican Representative Marsha Blackburn (TN) questioned the truthfulness of FBI Director James Comey’s testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee. Speaking with Chuck Todd on Meet The Press Daily on Friday, the Tennessee Republican said that she thought Comey was looking to settle some scores during his testimony. “It seemed as if he wanted to throw lots of people under the bus,” Blackburn said. “It seemed as if he did get a little bit emotional. I think he has a very interesting relationship with the truth.” An interesting relationship with the truth. Those words got Todd’s attention. He followed-up by asking if Blackburn believed Comey committed perjury. “That’s not for me to say,” Blackburn said. The Meet The Press Daily host challenged her. “You just said he has a problem with the truth,” Todd said. “I said he has an interesting relationship with the truth,” Blackburn said. “What does that Continue reading "Marsha Blackburn Questions Comey: ‘He Has a Very Interesting Relationship With the Truth’"

Ex-GOP Rep. Calls Out Paul Ryan: You’d Be Looking Into Impeachment if Trump Was a Democrat

paul ryan A former Republican congressman called out Paul Ryan on Twitter after the James Comey hearing yesterday. On Thursday, Ryan defended President Trump on his conversations with Comey, saying, “The president’s new at this. He’s new to government, and so he probably wasn’t steeped in the long-running protocols that establish the relationships between DOJ, FBI and White Houses. He’s just new to this.” At one point, a reporter asked him if he would be already calling for impeachment if Trump was a Democrat. Ryan said, “I don’t think we would, actually.” Former Rep. Bob Inglis (R- GA), who runs the Energy and Enterprise Initiative at George Mason University, took to Twitter to call him out and say that he should put the country first:
