The View‘s Whoopi Goldberg Delivers Impassioned Plea: Left or Right, Child Separation ‘Has to Piss You Off!’

The View continued to slam President Donald Trump on Tuesday, showing clear disapproval for how the White House has tried to justify and explain their division of migrant families at the U.S.-Mexico border. Sara Haines had a hard time taking DHS Chief Kirstjen Nielsen seriously, saying that the Secretary of Homeland Security blundered yesterday’s press briefing just as she other press events. Joy Behar followed up, condemning Trump defenders like Fox News’ Laura Ingraham for dismissing the widespread outrage and saying migrant children are basically placed in “summer camp” after being taken away from their families. “Children want their parents. They want their grandparents there,” Behar said. “I don’t think in summer camp mothers were dragged out screaming ‘I want my child back.’ They were sending them to camp.” Whoopi Goldberg eventually got in on the conversation with an impassioned plea, noting that with so much Continue reading "The View‘s Whoopi Goldberg Delivers Impassioned Plea: Left or Right, Child Separation ‘Has to Piss You Off!’"

The View Laments the State of Discourse in Trump’s America: ‘We’re All Stomping Around’ in the Swamp

The View today started the show with a segment that quickly turned into a meditation on discourse in Trump’s America. They kicked off with the Twitter feud between President Trump and Morning Joe after the President missed the irony of him attacking anyone else for making up crap about a woman’s facelift:

Newt Gingrich on The View: Our Government is Corrupt

It is not, as one might expect, hyperbole or paraphrase that created the above headline. That is, in fact, exactly what former Speaker of the House and Trump advisor Newt Gingrich explicitly stated on The View on Tuesday. Whoopi Goldberg asked point blank “have you taken the idea that our government is corrupt?” Newt matter-of-factly replied simply “yes.”
WHOOPI: I mean, don’t you think that you must go through the process to find out if there is anything, or are you saying you’re assuming that it’s already — have you taken the idea that our government is corrupt?
GINGRICH: Yes.
BEHAR: Really?
WHOOPI: And how long has it been that way, Newt?
GINGRICH: I think you can go back to a number of cases. I think the special counsel in the Bush years that set up Scooter Libby was totally corrupt, totally dishonest. Continue reading "Newt Gingrich on The View: Our Government is Corrupt"

The View on Trump’s Demand For Apology from ABC: He Doesn’t Get ‘Difference Between Criticism and Racism’

The ladies on The View condemned President Donald Trump today — as he continues to make himself the center or the commotion regarding ABC’s cancellation of Roseanne. Even though the president has yet to say anything about Barr’s racist comments about Valerie Jarrett, he’s still demanding apologies from ABC over the network’s critical coverage of his administration. “He doesn’t seem to know the difference between criticism and racism,” Joy Behar said. “People criticize the president. That is the job of the media: to criticize…That’s a job of the president to accept the criticism like a man.” The panel went on to discuss how the current development fits with Trump’s pattern of crying “fake news” over news reports he doesn’t like, not because they aren’t actually true. Sunny Hostin declared that Trump shouldn’t receive apologies from anyone until he can prove he actually deserves them.
“If he is looking Continue reading "The View on Trump’s Demand For Apology from ABC: He Doesn’t Get ‘Difference Between Criticism and Racism’"

WATCH: Whoopi Goldberg Issues Stunning Condemnation of Roseanne For Photoshopped Image

Last night, Roseanne went back to Twitter and continued to… be herself. That included retweeting a photoshopped image of Whoopi Goldberg. On The View, Whoopi responded. “So this is what I’m going to say, Roseanne,” she said, addressing the camera directly. “Just because you were caught with your pants down, don’t try to drag other people down with you.” The screenshot below shows the difference between the original photo and the one that Roseanne retweeted last night. In the photoshopped image (right), the blurred out portion was a graphic depiction of President Trump shooting himself in the head. The View Destroys Trump For ‘Tone-Deaf’ Memorial Day Tweet: ‘Your Fricking Communications Team’ Should Stop You

President Donald Trump‘s Memorial Day tweet was roundly panned on Twitter Monday, and also by the ladies of The View Tuesday. Whoopi Goldberg began the skewering session by noting that many, including veterans, said the message was “tone-deaf,” to which Joy Behar replied: “Duh.” “First of all, Obama pulled the U.S. out of the great recession and the economy has been steadily improving since. So he can’t really take credit for anything that he’s done,” Behar continued. “I think the greatest point is that we should be talking about our fallen Continue reading "The View Destroys Trump For ‘Tone-Deaf’ Memorial Day Tweet: ‘Your Fricking Communications Team’ Should Stop You"

Meghan McCain Battles View Co-Hosts on Texas Shooting: ‘We’re Always Talking About Gun Control’

The View spoke about the school shooting in Texas Friday, trying desperately to identify a cause for the senseless violence. “After Friday’s high school shooting in Texas, more American students have died from gun violence in 2018 than U.S. soldiers in combat,” Whoopi Goldberg began. “Part of the question has become, how can you take action when no one agrees what the actual problem is?” “Anyone who thinks that armed guards are the answer, they were there at the school, but it still took a half hour to catch this kid,” she added. Joy Behar cited writer Malcolm Gladwell on the subject, saying that Gladwell believes every successive incident makes them feel easier to commit to potential perpetrators, and that “the strictest gun control in the world” would likely solve the issue. To this, Meghan McCain curtly asked: “Is he a gun owner, though?” “We’re always talking Continue reading "Meghan McCain Battles View Co-Hosts on Texas Shooting: ‘We’re Always Talking About Gun Control’"
