A man who alleged Kevin Spacey sexually assaulted him in a bar when he was 18 texted his girlfriend live updates of the interaction, according to a court filing made public Thursday. The two-time Oscar winner in July 2016 allegedly bought the man drinks after his shift as a bus boy ended at Club Car bar on Nantucket, according to messages obtained by the Boston Globe. “He’s grabbed my dick like eight times,” the accuser texted his girlfriend. The message thread describes the man at first being starstruck to interact with Spacey, then realizing Spacey was hitting on him, then becoming anxious and uncomfortable as Spacey reached down his pants. “like he’s hangin around me in the bar. He got my number and asked me to come out with him,” the accuser wrote. “Sounds like he’s hitting on you….” his girlfriend wrote back. “I think he is” — “He’s

President Donald Trump claimed Friday morning to have decided against striking Iran 10 minutes before Thursday night’s planned attacks because it wasn’t worth it. This raised a lot of questions for Fox News’ Chris Wallace. In addition to questioning the integrity of the president’s claims, he Wallace said that Thursday night’s actions raised the question “Does the president have the stomach to get deeply involved, perhaps, in a confrontation with Iran?” “We know there was a big National Security Council meeting with the president yesterday where they discussed all of this, and usually the Pentagon is very sophisticated in being able to say, ‘look, here are various target packages, here’s what we would hit, here’s what the collateral damage would be,” said Wallace. Wallace added, “Any discussion of what collateral damage in terms of the deaths on the ground would be is discussed at that point before the president Continue reading "Chris Wallace: Does Trump ‘Have the Stomach’ to Confront Iran?"

A top advisor to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani equated U.S. sanctions on Iran to “economic terrorism” and said the nation would respond by “all means necessary.” Advisor Hesameddin Ashena said the crisis between the two nations directly stemmed from President Donald Trump‘s withdrawal from the JCPOA, or the Iran nuclear deal. He also said “this process is reversible. Every tangible constructive step will be met in kind.” In a tweet the hour before, the Iranian official said war and sanctions are “two sides of the same coin.” He said if the president does not want war, Continue reading "Senior Iranian Official Threatens Trump: Iran Will Respond to US ‘Economic Terrorism’ ‘By All Means Necessary’"

Bill Hemmer Praises ‘Careful Language’ of Trump’s Typo-Ridden Tweets on Iran Attack

Friday morning the president unleashed a series of typo-ridden tweets explaining his last-minute reversal of the decision to bomb three different sites in Iran. “What I find interesting about the tweets that we read live 45-50 minutes ago is that they came out in a series. They weren’t scattered, which tells you it was very careful language used in when dealing with matters like these, it’s evident, you find in the wording there,” said Fox News anchor Bill Hemmer. PSA: It’s safe to say that under no circumstances should a Donald Trump tweet be referred to as “very careful language.” Aside from random, mid-sentence capitalization which he seems to have branded for himself, the president wrote ‘I.8 billion dollars’ in the first tweet in the series, probably meaning 1?

Roy Moore, whose 2017 Senate campaign crumbled amidst allegations of sexual assault against minors, has decided to give a Senate run another go.

“Yes, I will run for the United States Senate in 2020,” Moore told reporters Thursday, adding,  “Can I win? Yes, I can. Not only can I, they know I can.”

Those on the left and the right have called out the absurdity of this idea:

This is pure fake news. I can assure everyone that by running, Roy Moore is going against my father and he’s doing a disservice to all conservatives across the country in the process. https://t.co/pjfDKfoIO0

The retired NYPD detective who gave a heartwrenching testimony before Congress last week for the 9/11 Fund appeared on Shepard Smith Reporting Thursday to make one more plea for Congress to renew the bill. Authorities assured Luis Alvarez and many other first responders that the air surrounding the debris of 9/11 while they dug through piles for victims had been safe, but we now know that air was filled with toxic dust. Eighteen years after the attacks and 68 rounds of chemo later, doctors told Alvarez there is nothing else they can do for his stage 4 cancer, and he is now in hospice care. “We did the right thing when we went down there. Now it’s the government’s turn to do the right thing by us,” Alvarez said Thursday on Fox News. The retired detective told Shepard Smith that he was comfortable and at peace, and not in a Continue reading "9/11 First Responder in Hospice Makes Heartwrenching Plea for Funds: Congress, ‘Do the Right Thing’"

Do I want to have people representing me who continue to flood the Middle East with arms?” The Senate has since passed the first of three resolutions packages against Saudi Arms sales with a vote 53-45, but Trump has pledged to veto the legislation. Having two days ago said the first thing he would do as president is raise taxes, Joe Biden told a room full of affluent New York donors Tuesday that he didn’t think it was appropriate to “demonize” the rich. “Remember, I got in trouble with some of the people on my team, on the Democratic side, because I said, you know, what I’ve found is rich people are just as patriotic as poor people. Not a joke. I mean, we may not want to demonize anybody who’s made money,” Biden told approximately 100 wealthy donors, according to Bloomberg. “Nobody has to be punished. No one’s standard of living will change.” “When you have income inequality as large as we have in the United States today, it brews and ferments political discord and basic revolution,” he said. “It allows demagogues to step in” and blame “the other,” he said. “You’re Continue reading "Biden to Mega-Wealthy Donors: ‘I Need You Very Badly’"

Five anchorwomen at NY1, a prominent local news network in New York City, are suing the channel for age and gender discrimination. They allege that as women with tenure, they are being pushed aside for young faces, while men with tenure at the network are celebrated. One of the plaintiffs is Roma Torre, 61, well-known for her morning coverage and one of the channel’s longest-serving anchors. “We feel we are being railroaded out of the place,” Torre told The New York Times. “Men age on TV with a sense of gravitas, and we as women have an expiration date.” Other plaintiffs in the suit filed Wednesday in Manhattan federal court include Vivian Lee, Jeanine Ramirez, Kristen Shaughnessy, and Amanda Farinacci. The anchorwomen said that since Charter Communications took over for Time Warner Cable in 2016, the cable channel has been reducing their air time and anchoring Continue reading "Five Anchorwomen Sue NY1 for Age and Gender Discrimination"

Britain Just Banned Gender Stereotypes from Ads. But What Does That Even Mean?

Apparently the British government has too much time on its hands. They’ve assigned themselves to helping advertisers stick their fingers in the citizen’s wallets by banning stereotypical ads the public already didn’t like. A new ban went into effect in the country Friday to silence all advertisements the Advertising Standards Authority deems to portray a “harmful” gender stereotype thought to “illicit widespread offense.” “Our evidence shows how harmful gender stereotypes in ads can contribute to inequality in society, with costs for all of us,” said Guy Parker, ASA chief executive, in a statement. “Put simply, we found that some portrayals in ads can, over time, play a part in limiting people’s potential.” The ban came in light of outrage over an ad for a weight loss product of a woman in a bikini with the words “Are you beach body ready?”

All but one major cable news network has been denied access to deliver live coverage of South Carolina’s Democratic Convention. MSNBC has been granted exclusive rights to cover the event where 21 Democratic presidential candidates will speak on Saturday. Fox News confirmed to Mediaite that it had been barred from live coverage of the convention, and that the network has lodged a complaint in response. The Washington Examiner reported that CNN and even C-SPAN had also been banned. CNN, per the Examiner, even filed a complaint over the denial. The network did not respond to Mediaite’s request for comment. South Carolina’s convention is crucial for Democratic hopefuls given the state’s early-voting presidential primaries, and the South Carolina Democratic Party’s decision to grant exclusive access to MSNBC has naturally rankled other networks. Conventions are typically open press, allowing any network to broadcast live. “Never has what is an open event Continue reading "Fox News, CNN, and C-SPAN Barred from Covering South Carolina 2020 Convention"

Fox News anchor Bill Hemmer went off on Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Tuesday for saying that the U.S. is running concentration camps at the southern border. AOC took to Instagram live stream Monday to share her thoughts: “The United States is running concentration camps on our southern border. And that is exactly what they are. The fact that concentration camps are now an institutionalized practice in the home of the free is extraordinarily disturbing.” “She used the extermination of six million people,” said Hemmer. “Has she ever been to Yad Vashem in Jerusalem? Or Auschwitz Berkinau in Southern Poland? Or Dachau in Germany? ‘Never again’ is the phrase that Jews all over the world use to make sure that the extermination between 1939 and 1945 never happens again,” Hemmer said, “and she’s using concentration camps to describe what’s happening on the Southern border. Amazon said Monday that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is “just wrong” for accusing the company of paying its employees starvation wages. ABC News’ This Week host Jon Karl reminded AOC that she once said an economic system that has billionaires is immoral, and asked if in a true progressive system Jeff Bezos would remain a billionaire. Ocasio-Cortez said she wasn’t really concerned whether Bezos was a billionaire or not, but whether the average Amazon worker was making a living wage, had guaranteed healthcare, and could send their kids to college tuition-free.

“If that’s the case, and Jeff Bezos is still a billionaire, that’s one thing. But if his being a billionaire is predicated on paying people starvation wages, and stripping them of their ability to access healthcare, also if his ability to be a billionaire is predicated on the fact that his workers take food stamps so I’m paying for him Continue reading "Amazon Fires Back at AOC: She’s ‘Just Wrong’ to Say We Pay ‘Starvation Wages’"

A gunman opened fire Monday morning outside a federal courthouse in Dallas, and the suspect was wounded after exchanging fire with police. After a dramatic chase caught on video, he was taken in custody and transported to a nearby hospital. Police told CNN that no other citizens or officers were wounded. Police also prepared to do a controlled explosion of the suspects car, which they thought contained a suspicious device. Witnesses said they saw a man dressed in tactical gear firing a rifle just outside the building at 8:30 a.m. Another witness said he was walking into the federal courthouse when he heard the gunman fire 10-15 shots. He turned and ran across the street to safety. A staff photographer for the Dallas Morning News caught this stunning photo of the gunman:
