Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie criticized the dysfunction of Presidential Donald Trump’s transition team in the wake of leaked transition documents obtained by Axios. In a new report on Axios on HBO Sunday night, reporter Jonathan Swan asked Christie to read from his political vetting dossier. Christie’s dossier, along with dozens of others, were leaked to Axios and detail what RNC staffers working on Trump’s transition team in 2016 viewed as “red flags” and questions to ask during interviews for jobs in the administration. Swan asked Christie to read off questions from his dossier that were suggested to be asked by Trump if Christie was tapped for an administration role. Both questions concerned his sour relationship with Jared Kushner, whose father Christie prosecuted. Christie, who was head of the Trump transition, was fired from the Trump campaign two days after the election — he claims due to pressure from Continue reading "Chris Christie Faces Questions From His Leaked Trump Vetting Dossier: ‘This is a Monumental Staff Failure’"

Axios’ Jonathan Swan appeared on MSNBC to detail his Sunday report on a large trove of leaked documents detailing the frenzy of Donald Trump’s presidential transition following the 2016 election. Swan spoke with Steve Kornacki, who was filling in for Kasie Hunt on Kasie DC. “The documents we have are the documents that were produced after they fired Chris Christie,” Swan said. “Trump fires — actually [Steve] Bannon fires [Christie] after the election and they toss aside most of his work, start from scratch with the names.” “So there was this frenetic frenzied period where the leadership … President Trump, Reince Priebus, were coming up with names for the top jobs,” he continued. “This was dumped on the back of the Republican National Committee. They had a team of two dozen—almost all of them in their 20s, and they did the best job they could on Continue reading "Jonathan Swan Details Axios Report on Chaos of Trump Presidential Transition"

Chris Christie Blames Sarah Sanders and WH Press Staff for Trump’s D-Day Interview Debacle

Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie refused to criticize President Donald Trump for using a cemetery full of fallen World War II heroes as the backdrop for political attacks, instead blaming Sarah Huckabee Sanders and her press staff for the incident that marred Trump’s trip to the U.K. On Sunday morning’s edition of This Week, host George Stephanopoulos led his panel in a discussion of Trump’s decision to attack political opponents like Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi while sitting in front of the American cemetery in Normandy. Stephanopoulos and others pointed out that prior to the trip, Pelosi was reported to have said that she’d rather see Trump im prison than impeached, but former Obama official Patrick Gaspard pointed out that Pelosi’s purported comment was made in private. “It’s not the same as stating in front of graves of American troops at Normandy and blasting somebody Continue reading "Chris Christie Blames Sarah Sanders and WH Press Staff for Trump’s D-Day Interview Debacle"

Chris Christie: Mueller’s Statement ‘Definitely Contradicts’ What AG Barr Said in His Summary

Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie called into a special ABC News report that followed Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s rather stunning public press appearance, the first and only appearance since he started as Special Counsel just over two years ago. Christie, a former US attorney himself and longtime friend and political ally of President Donald Trump, raised some eyebrows when he noted a clear contradiction between what Special Counsel Mueller said in Thursday’s press conference and what Attorney General William Barr said in the four-page summary released just days after receiving the 400+ page report. Christie agreed with ABC News anchor George Stephanoupolous’ observation that Mueller’s comments have taken away the overall investigation away “from the legal processes and put it right back into the political arena.” Christie — calling in over the phone — added “those comments by Bob Mueller about the other processesobviously impeachment Continue reading "Chris Christie: Mueller’s Statement ‘Definitely Contradicts’ What AG Barr Said in His Summary"

Fox News’ Chris Wallace Was Actually Less Terrible on Abortion Than NBC’s Chuck Todd This Weekend

This weekend, Fox News anchor Chris Wallace and NBC News’ Chuck Todd stepped into the arena of abysmal media coverage on abortion rights, and Wallace was the clear winner simply by being less grossly irresponsible than Todd. The decades-long hot war on women’s reproductive rights has boiled over this year, and particularly over the past several weeks, which have seen draconian and dangerous legislation passed in states like Alabama and Georgia. It is in that context that Wallace and Todd (worst TBS cop show never made) interviewed several leading political figures on the issue this past weekend. Let’s begin with Wallace, who distinguished himself in an interview with Minnesota Senator and Democratic presidential candidate Amy Klobuchar by getting a few facts right, and only making one grossly irresponsible statement. He began by asking Klobuchar what she would do, as president, if the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, which Continue reading "Fox News’ Chris Wallace Was Actually Less Terrible on Abortion Than NBC’s Chuck Todd This Weekend"

Chris Christie Swipes at MSNBC in Testy Russia Debate, Stephanie Ruhle Fires Back: ‘Get Out of Town With That!’

MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle got into a bit of a back-and-forth with Chris Christie at the SALT conference today interviewing both the former New Jersey governor and Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Sessions had a lot to say––on the House showdown with Bill Barr, Christopher Wray disagreeing with the “spying” characterization,” and more––but for parts of the event he sat there while Ruhle and Christie clashed over the Russia probe and the president’s rhetoric. Ruhle brought up Trump decrying the “treasonous hoax” and asked Christie for his response. “The president says lots of things,” Christie said. ” And there are things the president says I wish he wouldn’t say. I told him all along he shouldn’t criticize Bob Mueller. I said ’cause I think he’s going to wind up exonerating you out of most things and you’ve been kicking the crap out of him and you’ll want to say good things Continue reading "Chris Christie Swipes at MSNBC in Testy Russia Debate, Stephanie Ruhle Fires Back: ‘Get Out of Town With That!’"

Chris Christie: White Working-Class Trump Voters Could Hand 2020 Election to Joe Biden

Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie said that Joe Biden has the best chance to President Donald Trump in the field of 20 Democrats running for president in 2020, as Christie argued the former vice president’s appeal to white working-class voters makes him the most electable. “Someone who could give [Trump] a run is Joe Biden,” Christie said while on journalist Tina Brown‘s podcast TBD this week. “I say that is because in essence [the 2016] election was decided by 80,000 voters in Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin, and most of those voters were white working-class voters.” “I think if you look at the 19 candidates on the other side of the aisle the one who can best have an opportunity to appeal to those white working-class voters is Joe Biden,” he added. Christie, who was a GOP candidate in the 2016 election who dropped out and threw his Continue reading "Chris Christie: White Working-Class Trump Voters Could Hand 2020 Election to Joe Biden"

Chris Christie Details How ‘Riffraff’ Derailed Trump’s Transition: It Was a ‘Boatload of Sebastian Gorkas’

A new portion of Chris Christie‘s upcoming memoir is elaborating on his disapproval for the people in President Trump‘s orbit. Axios has a report out with new excerpts from “Let Me Finish,” the autobiography from the former New Jersey governor that’ll hit the shelves later in the month. In it, Christie tears into “future federal felon Michael Flynn,” “greedy and inexperienced Scott Pruitt” and other Trump Administration “riffraff” who’ve saddled the president instead of helping him establish an actual proof of concept for governing the country. From the book, per Axios.
He got the Apprentice show loser Omarosa Manigault in whatever Omarosa’s job purported to be. (I never could figure that one out.) … Too few Kellyanne Conways. A boatload of Sebastian Gorkas. Too few Steven Mnuchins.
The new passages seem to support other previews of Christie’s book, especially the portions where he lets loose Continue reading "Chris Christie Details How ‘Riffraff’ Derailed Trump’s Transition: It Was a ‘Boatload of Sebastian Gorkas’"

Chris Christie Book: Trump Surrounded By ‘Amateurs, Grifters, Weaklings, Convicted and Unconvicted Felons’

Former New Jersey governor Chris Christie is apparently using part of his new memoir to rip into untrustworthy individuals surrounding President Trump within his own administration. Axios has a report on excerpts from Christie’s upcoming autobiography “Let Me Finish,” in which, Christie says Trump is dealing with a “revolving door of deeply flawed individuals — amateurs, grifters, weaklings, convicted and unconvicted felons.” Christie describes these people by saying they were “hustled into jobs they were never suited for,” even as the president “trusts people he shouldn’t, including some of the people who are closest to him.”
“I did everything I could to make sure my friend Donald reached the White House fully prepared to serve. But a handful of selfish individuals sidetracked our very best efforts. They set loose toxic forces that have made Trump’s presidency far less effective than it would otherwise have been. If this tragedy Continue reading "Chris Christie Book: Trump Surrounded By ‘Amateurs, Grifters, Weaklings, Convicted and Unconvicted Felons’"

Chris Christie’s New Political Tell-All About Trump’s Inner Circle is a Jared Kushner Bash-Fest

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who was a Donald Trump campaign surrogate and is currently a Trump-friendly CNN contributor, has fired a shot at the Trump family in his new book — accusing the Donald’s son-in-law Jared Kushner of a “political hit job” against him. Christie’s new book “Let Me Finish: Trump, the Kushners, Bannon, New Jersey, and the Power of In-Your-Face Politics” is set for release on Jan. 29, but The Guardian has an early copy and published the excerpt in question this week. In it, Christie relates the story of his firing as chair of Trump’s transition team, and puts the blame squarely on Kushner, though it was Steve Bannon, a now-fellow firee, who carried it out.
“Steve Bannon … made clear to me that one person and one person only was responsible for the faceless execution that Steve was now attempting to carry out.

Laura Ingraham: Chris Christie Should Replace Jeff Sessions as AG

On Wednesday night, Laura Ingraham made the case that former New Jersey governor Chris Christie to take over the Justice Department amid Attorney General Jeff Sessions‘ forced resignation. Ingraham began by listing all the reasons why she thought Christie would be a great fit as Attorney General. First was that he has an 18-year relationship with President Donald Trump and they “get along” and know each other. Second, he has already “walked through the media fire” and knows what it’s like to be in the spotlight. She acknowledged how he and Trump have a “similar” temperament and style.  She then praised his “tough as nails” reputation as a career prosecutor at the DOJ and dismissed the various controversies Christie has faced over the years like “Bridgegate” and his infamous closing of New Jersey beaches. She also expressed confidence, especially after the GOP picked up three additional seats in the Continue reading "Laura Ingraham: Chris Christie Should Replace Jeff Sessions as AG"

Chris Christie on Menendez Win: People Didn’t Like Him, But They ‘Didn’t Like the President More’

Perhaps no one on 2018 election night coverage knows New Jersey politics and President Donald Trump better than former Jersey governor Chris Christie. And as the result was projected that Sen. Bob Menendez (R-NJ) would retain his seat, the ex-governor put the result squarely on the shoulders of the president. Appearing on ABC’s coverage, Christie said this, when asked about the Menendez victory: “I heard lots of people say they didn’t like Menendez, but they didn’t like the president more.” Menendez survived despite facing federal corruption charges in a case that was dropped this past January after a jury could not reach a verdict in the trial. Christie believes animus towards the president in the Garden State outweighed any negative feelings against the senator. “The Trump headwind in New Jersey is probably as hard as it is any place in the country.” Watch above, via ABC. Chris Christie: Trump’s Administration Has ‘Never Recovered’ From Botched Transition

This post is by Joe DePaolo from Mediaite

Former Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ) believes President Donald Trump‘s administration has never recovered from a bungled transition — a process he was supposed to oversee. In an interview with the Washington Post Magazine, Christie said that he could have prevented “75 percent” of the problems which popped up during the Trump transition. “I think the president’s administration has never recovered, and I don’t think will ever recover, from having wasted that time,” Christie said. The governor — without mentioning names — bashed the president’s inner circle for, in his view, looking out more for themselves than for the administration. “I’ve said over and over that I think he’s been horribly served by the people who are around him.” Christie said. “Now, he takes part of the responsibility for that because he made those choices. I do think that for someone who’s never been in government before, that Continue reading "Chris Christie: Trump’s Administration Has ‘Never Recovered’ From Botched Transition"

Chris Christie Clashes With Sunny Hostin on Kavanaugh: ‘Don’t Interrupt Me, Save That For The View’

Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie clashed with ABC’s Sunny Hostin on Good Morning America today, as he sternly asked her to “save” her interruptions for The View. The two were debating the credibility of Supreme Court justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s accuser Christine Blasey Ford and her sexual assault allegations, “In the end, you have to look at the totality of this guy’s life and circumstances and qualifications and you do have, I think, a burden of proof to defeat a nomination, especially when he’s from the majority party,” Christie argued. “That’s just the political reality of it. You have to sway people who would otherwise philosophically want to vote for him, that this is disqualifying, and I don’t think that yesterday carried that off.” Hostin then noted that “sexual assault should never be a partisan issue.” “It’s an issue of right and wrong and I think what’s Continue reading "Chris Christie Clashes With Sunny Hostin on Kavanaugh: ‘Don’t Interrupt Me, Save That For The View’"

Chris Christie and NYT’s Michelle Goldberg Clash Over Op-Ed: ‘You Have No Respect for the President!’

On ABC’s This Week, the anonymous New York Times op-ed from last week drew sparks between Trump surrogate former governor Chris Christie and NYT columnist Michelle Goldberg. In the clip above, ABC’s Jon Karl and Gov. Christie generally agree that the anonymous author of the op-ed, which alleges resistance against Donald Trump from within his own White House, should be outed by the New York Times if he or she has already issued a denial. “If this person who did it is one of those who has publicly denied it, what does the New York Times do with that information,” said Karl. “To continue to protect somebody who is publicly telling a lie?” “That’s why I say that the denials are important,” agreed Christie. “Because I would assume that the New York Times would be responsible enough that if someone is out there outright lying about their participation Continue reading "Chris Christie and NYT’s Michelle Goldberg Clash Over Op-Ed: ‘You Have No Respect for the President!’"

Christie Swipes at Sessions Over Immigration Crisis: Trump ‘Enormously Ill-Served’ by DOJ

Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie swiped at Attorney General Jeff Sessions this morning over the ongoing immigration crisis. Sessions, of course, has been one of the key figures in the Trump administration’s border crackdown, defending family separation on multiple occasions before saying last week “we never really intended to do that.” Christie, now an ABC News contributor, told George Stephanopoulos on This Week that the President is not being served well by his attorney general:
“The President was enormously ill-served by the Department of Justice. If the attorney general had come in and said to the President, ‘I want you to do a zero-tolerance policy, but let me just tell you: we don’t have enough judges to handle the cases, we don’t have enough prosecutors to bring the cases, and we don’t have enough detention facilities to legally detain the people that we’re gonna show zero tolerance to,’ Continue reading "Christie Swipes at Sessions Over Immigration Crisis: Trump ‘Enormously Ill-Served’ by DOJ"

Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who campaign for Donald Trump and served on his transition team, dismissed the president’s complaints that the FBI should have told him it was investigating his campaign. Appearing on Good Morning America alongside Mediaite founder and ABC chief legal analyst Dan Abrams, Christie was asked about Trump’s recent tweet that the FBI or Justice Department “should have told” him about the investigation: Paul Manafort, who was indicted by Mueller’s probe on a dizzying array of charges for financial crimes, served a campaign chairman for the Continue reading "Chris Christie Rebuts Trump’s Manafort Claim: Not DOJ’s Job to Vet Your Campaign"

Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and Mediaite Founder and ABC Chief Legal Analyst Dan Abrams had an engaging discussion over President Trump and the various stages of investigation on This Week with George Stephanopoulos on Sunday. Among several newsworthy remarks from Christie, one-time key ally of the President, was his assertion that, as a prosecutor, he would not have turned over the information related to the investigation and so-called “spy” to the Trump team, either. Stephanoulos posed the question by referring to the earlier interview with current Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani.
STEPHANOPOULOS: One thing. And Mayor Giuliani didn’t want to go too deep into this. It does appear now that the FBI had, there was no misconduct in the use of this FBI informant.
ABRAMS: Well, look, and also, Giuliani saying we have been — for a year, we haven’t gotten information on this. Why would they Continue reading "Chris Christie: If President Trump Were to Pardon Himself, He’d Be Impeached"

Chris Christie: ‘You Can’t Argue’ That the Mueller Probe ‘Hasn’t Been Effective So Far’

While most of the MAGAverse supports President Trump‘s attacks on the Russia investigation, Chris Christie is reminding people that Robert Mueller‘s probe is not the baseless “witch hunt” critics say it is. As Christie spoke for an event at the University of Chicago, the former New Jersey governor said its hard to call the investigation a waste when over a dozen Russian nationals have been indicted for election interference, and five former Trump aides have pled guilty because of Mueller’s findings.
“I’ve told him many times that there’s no way to make an investigation like Continue reading "Chris Christie: ‘You Can’t Argue’ That the Mueller Probe ‘Hasn’t Been Effective So Far’"
