North Dakota Republican Congressman Kelly Armstrong attacked New York Senator and Democratic presidential candidate Kirsten Gillibrand for wanting to keep school lunches free of a pesticide that the Obama administration wanted to ban, but which the Trump administration greenlit this week.
Trump’s Environmental Protection Agency announced, this week, that it will not ban the pesticide chlorpyrifos for agricultural use, despite the fact that it is already banned for household use, and has the potential to damage brain development in children — according to studies produced by the EPA.
The potential harm to children was also not enough to keep one Republican congressman from attacking Senator Gillibrand for introducing a bill aimed at keeping children from being exposed to chlorpyrifos in their school lunches.
At a recent congressional hearing onKellyanne Conway’sHatch Act violations, Rep. Armstrong took things to a bizarre place as he was questioning the Office of Continue reading "WATCH: GOP Congressman Attacks Kirsten Gillibrand for Wanting to Keep Poison Out of School Lunches"
Former First Lady Michelle Obama has indirectly weighed in on President Donald Trump‘s attacks on the Democratic “squad.”
Last weekend, Trump said they should go back to the countries they came from (three of them were born here), and this week as Trump tore into Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, people at his rally erupted in chants of “send her back!”
Trump today continued going after Omar and the three other congresswomen for the “horrible” things they’ve said about America.
The former first lady did not directly mention Trump in her tweet today, but her message was clear: “Whether we are born here or seek refuge here, there’s a place for us all. We must remember it’s not my America or your America. It’s our America.”
On the right, and the farther left, it may cause groans to say that there is a standard of objectivity that one should maintain in order to be taken seriously as a member of the press, but it is true. The varied and complicated question of bias is a linked and overlapping issue, but it is not the exact same issue as maintaining an objective distance from the subject of one’s coverage.
If a newspaper is writing an expose on corruption at Grocery Store A, you don’t want them to assign the report whose parents own Grocery Store B. If your news program covers politics, don’t put a reporter on the task of covering their old boss or close frie… okay wait, we’ll have to get back to that one.
The point is that even in a media landscape that has a thin and blurry line between opinion and fact,
Former First Lady Michelle Obama likened America in the Trump era to living with a “divorced dad” in a recent interview.
In speaking with Stephen Colbert in London this week about her book Becoming, Obama had this to say:
“We come from a broken family, we’re a teenager, we’re a little unsettled and having good parents. It’s tough, sometimes you spend the weekend with divorced dad. That feels like it’s fun but then you get sick. That’s what America is going through, we’re kind of living with divorced dad.”
Former President and First Lady Barack and Michelle Obama have been named Most Admired Man and Woman of 2018 according to an annual Gallup Poll.
Former President Obama can now claim 11 straight years at the top of this poll and is now just one first-place finish short of tying Dwight Eisenhower for the most times being Most Admired Man.
President Donald Trump is the second most admired man according to the poll, earning 13% mentions to Former President Obama’s 19%.
This marks the first time in 17 years that a woman other than Hillary Clinton has been named by Americans as the woman they admire most. Ms. Obama more tripled the others, earning 15% of total mentions.
Former Secretary of State Clinton fell to a shared third place, behind Ms. Obama and Oprah Winfrey. First Lady Melania Trump also shares the third place spot with the former political opponent of
Former First LadyMichelle Obama brought down the house on Tuesday night’s edition of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon with a two-word thought about waving goodbye from Air Force One after President Obama turned the government over to Donald Trump.
During the second segment of an interview to promote FFLOTUS’ new book “Becoming,” host Jimmy Fallon asked Mrs. Obama to comment on a photo of the outgoing First Couple boarding Air Force One.
“This is you, this is after the Trump inauguration just waving from Air Force One,” Fallon said, and asked “Can you just walk me through what —
“Bye, Felicia!” Obama interrupted, to uproarious laughter from the crowd, and a doubled-over Fallon.
After a few moments of laughter, Fallon asked “Is that what was going through your mind?”
“A lot was going on that day,” Mrs. Obama answered.
And you could definitely say the days Continue reading "Michelle Obama Floors Jimmy Fallon With 2 Words on Leaving White House to Trump: ‘Bye, Felicia!’"
After ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel jokingly referenced the White House staffer essentially fired by First Lady Melania Trump, his guest, former FLOTUS Michelle Obama, noted that she never had a situation like that.
The host greeted Michelle Obama, who appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night to discuss her new book Becoming, by begging her to go back to the White House with her husband, so as to replace President Donald Trump, who Kimmel has vocally opposed on his show.
“If you wanted to get someone in your husband’s administration fired, how would you do that?” Kimmel asked, later in the segment.
Last week, Deputy National Security Advisor Mira Ricardel was ousted from the administration after the first lady sent out a press released endorsing her firing, which raised questions on how much control she has over the White House’s internal workings

Michelle Obama sat down with late-night host Jimmy Kimmel Thursday night to talk about her post-White House life and her new book.
After talking about how her husband Barack Obama has a messy desk, getting real about paying for food in the White House and how her dogs had appearance schedules too, Mrs. Obama read off prepared cards of things she could not say while First Lady.
“The whole eight years we were in the White House, we used Laura Bush’s Netflix password,” she read, offering to pay the bill.
“I’m not sure which one’s Sasha and which one’s Malia,” she also read, adding her girls would agree.
“I stole the phrase when we go low, they go high from the back of a Snapple cap,” she read with a laugh.
“Clooney is my freebie,” she also read, without comment.
The only one Mrs. Obama actually said was not true Continue reading "Michelle Obama Reads Things She Couldn’t Say as First Lady on Jimmy Kimmel Live!"
Former First Lady Michelle Obama is out promoting a new book and sat with Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts.
Naturally, the conversation turned to last week historic midterm elections, the results of which sent well over 100 female candidates to U.S. Congress, which is more women that will serve in Congress than ever before. But it was when the 2020 presidential race was broached that the conversation got a rise out of the in-studio audience.
Roberts mentioned 2020 presidential aspirations with a comedic and stern glare at Ms. Obama suggesting that the former First Lady might have interest in returning to the White House. Ms. Obama has steadfastly claimed zero interest in running for office, to which she repeated again in a light moment.
Roberts then turned to a recent op-ed published by the Wall Street Journal in which former Hillary Clinton campaign manager Mark Penn baselessly suggested that she may Continue reading "Michelle Obama On Hillary 2020: ‘At This Point, Everybody’s Qualified and Everybody Should Run’"
Stephanie Grisham, press secretary for Melania Trump, had a dispute with CNN reporter Kate Bennett on Monday in terms of whether she was offended by Michelle Obama offering to give her successor advice on how to contend with the stresses of being First Lady.
Obama gave an interview to ABC’s Robin Roberts on Sunday as part of her promotional campaign for her new memoir, Becoming. During this chat, Roberts recalled how Laura Bush promised to make herself available if Obama ever needed any advice during her husband’s presidency, and Obama said that she used a portion of her new book to say that she made the same offer to Mrs. Trump.
The thing is, Obama says Trump has never taken up the offer.
CNN’s Kate Bennett asked the First Lady’s press office about this, and she received a statement from Grisham swatting down Obama’s offer.
Bennett also noted
MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell sat down with Ari Melber on Friday to talk about Michelle Obama‘s revelation that she can never forgive President Donald Trump for his hurtful birtherism claims about her husband that hurt her family.
“She should never forgive him,” O’Donnell said before noting that press should never forgive itself the way it allowed Trump’s lie to go on.
“The second Donald Trump started talking about Barack Obama‘s birth certificate, on my program, I called him a liar and said what he was doing was lying. And that word––that word that I was using, ‘lie’ and ‘liar’––was not acceptable in the American news media.”
He then pointed out that the New York Times and 99 percent of the news media never said he was lying about it.
As a result, he said: “Donald Trump learned the lesson. He could lie. He could get away with it and Continue reading "Lawrence O’Donnell: Media Deserves Blame for Failing to Confront Trump’s ‘Foundational Lie’ of Birtherism"
Fox News’ Ed Henry said Michelle Obama has every right to be angry at Donald Trump for spreading the birther conspiracy about her husband, as the two exchanged barbs on Friday.
Excerpts of Obama’s upcoming memoir were reported on Friday, including ones where she criticizes Trump, saying she won’t forgive him for his years of spreading conspiracy theories to delegitimize her husband’s presidency.
Trump retaliated on Friday in a White House press spray, saying he won’t forgive Barack Obama for “what he did” to the U.S. military.
When asked about this on America’s Newsroom, Henry said he couldn’t begrudge Mrs. Obama for her position, which he likened to Tucker Carlson as the Fox host hits back at those responsible for the threatening protest at his house earlier this week.
President Donald Trump slammed his predecessor, former President Barack Obama, hours after it was reported that the former First Lady Michelle Obama criticized Trump in her upcoming memoir for his years touting the conspiracy that Barack Obama was not born in the U.S.
The Washington Post, on Friday, published an excerpt of Michelle Obama’s soon-to-be-released memoir Becoming. In it, she bashed Trump — saying she’ll never forgive Trump for his birtherism.
The whole thing was crazy and mean-spirited, of course, its underlying bigotry and xenophobia hardly concealed. But it was also dangerous, deliberately meant to stir up the wingnuts and kooks…What if someone with an unstable mind loaded a gun and drove to Washington? What if that person went looking for our girls? Donald Trump, with his loud and reckless innuendos, was putting my family’s safety at risk. And for this I’d never forgive him.
Michelle Obama revealed she suffered a miscarriage 20 years ago, and that both of her daughters with Barack were conceived through in vitro fertilization.
Obama opened up about her troubles with pregnancy in an interview on Good Morning America Friday, where the former first lady was on to speak about her upcoming memoir, Becoming.
“I felt lost and alone, and I felt like I failed,” Obama told ABC anchor Robin Roberts. “Because I didn’t know how common miscarriages were because we don’t talk about them. We sit in our own pain, thinking that somehow we’re broken.”
“That’s one of the reasons why I think it’s important to talk to young mothers about the fact that miscarriages happen,” she added.
Obama said she realized “the biological clock is real” and “egg production is limited,” when she was in her mid-30s, and underwent IVF to conceive her daughters.
Obama’s memoir, to Continue reading "Michelle Obama Reveals She Suffered a Miscarriage 20 Years Ago"
Excerpts from Michelle Obama‘s new book indicate that the former first lady is about to take aim at Donald Trump, especially for his conspiracy-mongering that her husband was an illegitimate president.
Washington Post obtained a first look at Obama’s memoir Becoming, in which, she uses some of the most direct, scathing rebukes of Trump she has ever put forward. One portion shows Obama really digging into Trump for his years of claiming that her husband was not born in America and, therefore, ineligible to be president.
Former First Lady Michelle Obama says in her new book that President Donald Trump is sending a message.
And that message is “I can hurt you and get away with it.”
Mrs. Obama’s words are found in her new book Becoming.
The Associated Press got their hands on an advance copy of the book set to be released on Tuesday.
In it, Mrs. Obama talks about Trump following around Hillary Clinton on the debate stage as well as the Access Hollywood tape as well as Trump’s message.
Obama denounces Trump for bragging in 2005, on the infamous Access Hollywood tape, about sexually assaulting women. She also accuses him of using body language to “stalk” Hillary Clinton, his 2016 opponent, during an election debate. She writes of Trump following Clinton around the stage, standing nearby and “trying to diminish her presence.”
Trump’s message, according to Obama, in Continue reading "Michelle Obama: Trump’s Message is ‘I Can Hurt You and Get Away With It’"
During his rally in Nevada today, former President Barack Obama took a moment to acknowledge an undercurrent of enthusiasm for a potential 2020 challenger to President Donald Trump.
Obama repeatedly emphasized the need for people––especially young people––to get out and vote in the midterms, saying it will be the best chance they have to send a message about the craziness of the last two years.
He said people come up to him asking him “What are we going to do?” and some even ask, “What about Michelle?”
After cheering from the audience, Obama said, “Michelle––she’s not running for President. But she is out there telling you to vote. Because the antidote to government but the powerful few is government by the organized, energized many.”
The former first lady has said in the past she has basically zero interest in running.

The hosts of Fox News’ The Five slammed T.I. today for a video featuring a Melania Trump lookalike stripping in the Oval Office. The First Lady’s spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham tweeted in favor of boycotting T.I. as a result.
Dana Perino in particular said the First Lady did nothing to deserve that and said first ladies in general should just be off limits.
Jesse Watters then asked, “Why doesn’t Michelle Obama speak up?”
Moments later Juan Williams said this in response:
“To your point about Michelle Obama, just this week we had this case where a woman running for the Senate in Minnesota was found do have said Michelle Obama can’t stand up as straight as a chimp. I mean, gosh. You think about that kind of racist language or don’t forget what happened even around here, we’ve called her baby mama. Remember that kind of stuff?”
This week, Hillary Clinton and Eric Holder had advice for Democrats. Tapping into the increasingly visible (and acted upon) primal rage of liberals, Clinton advised being uncivil, saying the time to be civil to Republicans is after destroying them, while Holder, playing off advice from the former First Lady herself, stated: “when they go low, we kick ’em.” But in a live appearance on NBC’s Today on Thursday, Michelle Obama pushed back.
Democrats have long used the phrase “politics of fear” when criticizing Republicans, but that is how Michelle Obama essentially characterized the point of view espoused by Clinton and Holder, not to mention Rep. Maxine Waters, when she said this morning that “fear is not a proper motivator. Continue reading "Michelle Obama Rebukes Hillary Clinton’s Uncivil Advice for Liberals: Fear Is Not a Proper Motivator"
Tomi Lahren showed her age on Wednesday when — during a segment expressing outrage at the treatment of Melania Trump — she tried to make the case that Fox News never criticized former first lady, Michelle Obama.
Lahren was on Fox & Friends today to respond to this horrible, evil, nasty tweet from CNN contributor Ana Navarro.
On vacay & I swore I’d stay off political twitter.
But damn, girlfriend’s lack of self-awareness & any sense of shame for her husband’s use of the Presidency to bully others, is hard to ignore.
Only plausible explanation here is, Melania suffered oxygen deprivation to the brain. https://t.co/o93MONfeUl
